Chapter 184 - Chapter 184: The Night of the Five-Tails (Part 3)

Night fell, the sky deep and vast, a gentle breeze blowing, the bright moon shining. Everything in this scene was enough to lift one's spirits.

On the streets, four Iwagakure (Hidden Stone Village) shinobi were on patrol, led by a Jōnin and accompanied by three Genin.

One of the Genin, a stocky young man, yawned—not out of sleepiness but out of boredom.

When he first heard that their team leader was taking them on a patrol exercise, he had been excited and eager. But after days of the same routine, that initial thrill had worn off.

It was simply too boring—wandering the streets late at night, doing nothing. His restless young heart couldn't stay content.

"Is patrolling always this dull?"

The Jōnin captain chuckled, "What did you expect?"

"So boring…"

"If you feel bored, that means the village is safe."

"Ugh, this is so lame. I wish something would happen in the village so I could show off the jutsu I just learned. Haha…"

With that, the Genin quickened his pace, moving ahead of the group, demonstrating a few exaggerated moves.

The squad's atmosphere was lighthearted. The other team members laughed along, and even the Jōnin captain couldn't suppress his smile.

Boom!

Not far ahead, a massive cloud of white smoke suddenly erupted.

The four were stunned. The Jōnin's heart tightened as he looked forward, his expression growing serious. A giant silhouette slowly emerged as the smoke cleared.

"T-That is…"

The same Genin who had been showing off just moments ago began to tremble, his teeth chattering. His legs wobbled like a newborn fawn.

His reaction was understandable. The creature before them was unimaginably huge—just standing there, it felt like a natural disaster.

Staring at the horse-like creature with five tails, the Jōnin's face turned grim as he muttered two words: "Five-Tails…"

Why was the Five-Tails here? Had the Five-Tails Jinchūriki lost control?

No, if it were a rampage, the Five-Tails wouldn't have reached the village center without any prior signs.

And the massive white smoke just now looked more like the scene of summoning a large creature—almost as if it had been deliberately summoned.

Damn it.

And at such a time when Lord Tsuchikage wasn't around.

The Jōnin captain's eyes were bloodshot as he stared at the Five-Tails.

Screams began to echo from all directions. The air rippled with panic, fear, and terror.

Standing over 60 meters tall, the sudden appearance of the Five-Tails in the village center naturally drew everyone's attention. Although it hadn't moved yet, its presence alone was enough to throw the villagers into chaos.

Iwagakure, surrounded by stone walls and known for its defense, had never anticipated facing such a disaster.

The sudden rampage of the Five-Tails might become the greatest crisis in the village's history.

"You three, evacuate immediately!"

The Jōnin captain's voice was stern and commanding, leaving no room for doubt.

"Understood. Please be careful, Sensei."

This wasn't the time to act tough. A battle of this level was clearly beyond their ability. The Genin followed their teacher's orders, shouting a quick warning before running towards the shelters.

The Jōnin captain closed his eyes, took a deep breath with a sense of resolve, and when he reopened them, his fear was gone. He charged towards the Five-Tails.

Tonight, he wasn't fighting alone. He had comrades willing to risk their lives to protect the village.

"Begin, Five-Tails."

On a cliff where no one noticed, Uchiha Madara issued the command through his powerful ocular ability.

"Roar!"

The Five-Tails let out a deafening roar, its five white tails twisting and writhing.

"We must not let it run!"

An Iwagakure shinobi shouted desperately.

The Five-Tails possessed exceptional mobility among the nine tailed beasts. Coupled with its towering mountain-like physique, if it started running, any building in its path would be reduced to rubble.

Countless Iwagakure shinobi surrounded the beast from all four directions, performing synchronized hand seals, pressing their hands to the ground.

In an instant, enormous earth walls, over a hundred meters tall, rose from the ground, trapping the Five-Tails within.

"Earth Style: Earth Flow Wall!"

A shinobi wiped a drop of cold sweat from his forehead, holding onto a sliver of hope. "Did we succeed?"

Before his voice even faded, a massive shadow leapt high into the sky, clearing the earthen walls with ease. The colossal figure seemed to blot out the moon, casting a heavy, inescapable shadow over them.

"W-What…"

The Five-Tails drove its powerful limbs forward. Its enormous size made the ground tremble as if the earth itself shivered with each step.

"Stop it!"

Iwagakure shinobi summoned more earthen walls, hoping to halt the beast. But the Five-Tails' strength was overwhelming—these thick walls crumbled like dry leaves under its charge.

The Five-Tails plowed forward, leaving behind a trail of shattered buildings and ruined walls.

With a casual swing of its tail, entire houses were smashed to pieces. The resulting wind pressure alone could send people flying.

As it retracted its tail, the ground where it struck had deep fissures and craters. Such was the power of a tailed beast—beyond human imagination, beyond what ordinary shinobi could handle.

With every swing of its tail, a gust of wind howled, and more villagers fell, turning into skeletons.

Flames roared into the sky. The children who had lost their homes and families sat on the ground, their heart-wrenching cries filling the night.

"Damn you, Five-Tails!"

While the Iwagakure (Hidden Stone Village) shinobi watched the rampaging tailed beast with helpless rage, a chilling aura swept over everyone present, making their bones feel frozen.

The Five-Tails raised its chin, and small blue and black chakra orbs merged continuously near its open mouth, expanding rapidly into a massive black chakra sphere.

As the black sphere, known as a Tailed Beast Bomb, stopped growing, everyone held their breath, their spines turning to ice. The Tailed Beast Bomb, a signature move of the tailed beasts, could destroy everything before it with just a single blast.

Just as the Five-Tails prepared to unleash its devastating attack, a black shadow appeared in front of it. With a quick movement, the figure pressed their hands together, and an earth wall rose from the ground beneath the beast's feet. The sudden shift in position caused the beast to lose its aim, and the Tailed Beast Bomb shot off course, skyward.

The massive sphere flew over everyone's heads, landing on a distant mountain. With a thunderous explosion, the night turned to day, the flash of light illuminating everything.

When the light faded, the Iwagakure shinobi realized that the mountain where the bomb had exploded was now gone. Their faces paled as they imagined what could have happened if the bomb had hit the village—unthinkable devastation.

But who had created such a powerful Earth Release (Doton) wall at just the right moment, deflecting the Tailed Beast Bomb and saving them all from catastrophe?

"How disappointing... It seems you've grown too complacent from your peaceful days, letting your guard down... You can't even handle a mere tailed beast."

Following the voice, the shinobi turned to see a tall, broad-shouldered man. He had a square face, high cheekbones, a hooked nose, and piercing, wolf-like eyes. He appeared to be in his fifties, sporting a coarse beard that gave the impression it would take a blowtorch to shave it off.

Upon seeing his face, someone exclaimed in shock, "Lord Akainu! What are you doing here?"

They had thought Akainu was away on a mission.

"We'll discuss that later. First, we need to seal the Five-Tails."

Akainu stood unwavering before the enormous tailed beast, as steady as a rock. His mere presence brought a sense of stability to the panicked Iwagakure shinobi.

Tailed beasts were indeed powerful, but they also had their weaknesses. Their massive size granted immense strength, capable of overwhelming anything in their path. However, this also made them easy targets. If an attack exceeded their physical limits, a tailed beast could be defeated quickly.

And it just so happened that Akainu was an exceptionally skilled offensive shinobi. His jutsu (ninja techniques) were highly aggressive. While he might struggle against the destructive power of Dust Release (Jinton), compared to most other techniques, his attack style could be considered among the strongest.

Akainu clapped his hands together, molten lava erupting from his body as he growled, "Lava Release: Meteor Volcano!"

He possessed the Lava Release kekkei genkai (bloodline limit) and was also the Jinchūriki (host) of the Four-Tails. Due to their shared affinity, his Lava Release techniques were exceptionally potent, their power elevated to an entirely new level.

Molten lava sprayed from Akainu's fists like a torrential downpour, striking the Five-Tails' body. The sheer heat and force caused the beast immense pain.

"Not bad at all," a voice chuckled.

Uchiha Madara watched the chaos unfold, satisfied that his goal of destroying Iwagakure was nearly achieved. He no longer felt the need to control the Five-Tails and released his ocular control, allowing the beast to act on its own while he merely observed.

After a fierce battle, the Five-Tails was heavily wounded. Its white fur was charred black by the lava, and it collapsed, slowly closing its eyes.

Seeing the beast finally subdued, the Iwagakure shinobi knew it wasn't time to relax yet. They remained on high alert until the sealing ninja arrived and successfully sealed the tailed beast into a container. Only then did they breathe a sigh of relief.

"Lord Akainu, it's a good thing you came. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

"What caused the Five-Tails to go on a rampage?" Akainu asked.

His mission had gone smoothly, allowing him to return early to the village. He hadn't expected such chaos upon his arrival.

Unlike the Jinchūriki of the Five-Tails, Akainu had a far better relationship with his tailed beast. His privileged background allowed him more freedom, enabling him to move in and out of the village as needed for high-level missions.

"We're not sure. We might need to find that Jinchūriki to understand what happened."

Akainu nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, in the Daimyo's palace, the Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, received the devastating news. He immediately lost all interest in staying at the palace and rushed back to his village overnight. Upon arrival, he saw the once-peaceful village now in ruins.

Ōnoki's eyes burned with rage. He wanted blood. He quickly found someone to explain what had happened.

An Iwagakure shinobi recounted every detail they had gathered, leaving nothing out.

When Ōnoki finished listening, he latched onto a critical piece of information.

Sharingan?

In this world, only the Uchiha clan possessed the Sharingan.

And that clan resided in Konohagakure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves, within the Land of Fire.

Ōnoki closed his eyes for a moment, memories flooding back to when he and the Second Tsuchikage had gone to negotiate, only to be brutally defeated by that man.

Old and new grudges blended into a single, seething hatred. Ōnoki clenched his teeth. His village had been reduced to this wrecked state—Konoha had to provide a reasonable explanation, or he would formally declare war on them.

With the two monstrous figures no longer in Konoha, Ōnoki was not afraid of challenging them.
