Chapter 196 - Chapter 198

Fujiwara Chika looked like an exquisite and gorgeous doll. Her features bore a striking resemblance to her half-sister Fujiwara Chinatsu, making her appearance even more breathtaking. She had long, silky black hair cascading past her shoulders, adorned with a dark ribbon tied into a neat bow. Her deep, star-like pupils sparkled against her fair complexion. She wore an elegant black dress with white collar and cuffs, paired with white stockings and simple flat shoes.

This was the style and attire Fujiwara Kirito had designed for his daughter, inspired by the popular anime character Fujiwara Chika from his previous life. However, unlike Chinatsu, who possessed a sharp and somewhat scheming personality, Chika was a pure and innocent girl.

Having grown up in a family filled with love and care, Chika developed into a gentle and kind-hearted young girl, despite being slightly overprotected by Kirito.

"Who is it?" Hearing the door open, Chika instinctively turned her gaze toward the entrance. The moment she saw who it was, her eyes widened, and she let out an excited cry, "Dad—!"

She didn't even take the time to call for her mother, Mikoto, who was still busy in the kitchen, or Izumi, who was taking a bath. Without hesitation, Chika dashed forward and leapt into Kirito's arms, wrapping her small, delicate arms around his neck tightly. She buried her soft face against his shoulder, unwilling to let go.

Kirito could feel his daughter's rapid heartbeat. How could he not feel moved? He gently embraced her, stroking her silky black hair.

Mikoto, who had been preparing dinner, paused as she noticed the heartwarming scene unfolding in the living room. She turned and watched with a loving smile, unable to hide the doting expression that graced her beautiful face.

"Chika, don't cry. Daddy's back!" Kirito comforted her softly as he listened to the system notification in his mind.

"Hmph, Daddy doesn't want Chika anymore! You were gone for so long..." Chika's voice quivered, and she pouted, her teary eyes filled with grievances.

It was understandable—since her birth, Kirito had frequently gone on missions, but he had never been away for more than a month. This time, his journey to the Land of Water had taken over two months due to hunting the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, searching for Tsunade, and attending the Chunin Exams. The prolonged absence had made Chika miss her father terribly.

She had asked her mother Mikoto and her aunt Izumi countless times about Kirito's whereabouts. Though Mikoto and Izumi had received reassurances from Konan that he was safe, the lack of his presence still left Chika feeling uneasy.

Many times, she had wanted to beg her mother or aunt to take her to find him, but remembering her father's teachings, she refrained from causing trouble and instead focused on her studies and training.

"How could that be? How could Daddy ever leave you? It's my fault for worrying you so much," Kirito said, his voice full of guilt. He gently wiped the tears from his daughter's cheeks.

Chika sniffled and looked up at him with teary eyes. "Then promise me, Daddy! You can never leave Chika again! If you must go, then take Chika, Mom, and Aunt Izumi with you!"

Kirito chuckled and ruffled her hair. "I can't promise that, but I can guarantee that I will come back more often."

After a moment, he settled onto the sofa with Chika nestled in his arms. She clung to him tightly, her small hands gripping his robe as though afraid he would disappear again.

Glancing toward the kitchen, Kirito's gaze met Mikoto's. She turned toward him, and the moment their eyes locked, a teasing smirk appeared on Kirito's lips, his eyes glinting with playful intent.

Mikoto understood his silent message immediately. A faint blush spread across her cheeks, and she gave him a half-hearted glare before turning back to her cooking.

Kirito chuckled to himself and then turned his attention back to his daughter. "Chika, Daddy brought you a gift this time."

"Really?" Chika's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Yes. Do you remember the Transformers Daddy told you about? Look—it's finally finished!" Kirito revealed the puppet he had asked Sasori to craft for her.

"Wow! Thank you, Daddy! Chika loves you the most!" Chika giggled happily and leaned forward, planting a small kiss on Kirito's cheek.

Kirito grinned. "This one requires chakra to activate. Since you are still young and can't refine chakra yet, how about practicing how to use chakra with Daddy?"

"No problem! Chika will train really hard!" Chika nodded enthusiastically, embracing the scroll Kirito handed her as if it were a treasure.

She continued to chat excitedly about her training progress while Kirito listened attentively, offering encouragement and praise. Finally, when Kirito suggested that she test her new toy in the empty space of the living room, Chika reluctantly left his embrace, quickly becoming engrossed in playing with the transforming puppet.

Kirito stood up and quietly entered the kitchen, wrapping his arms around Mikoto from behind. His breath was warm against her ear as he whispered, "Mikoto, I missed you."

Mikoto's body trembled slightly at the unexpected embrace. She quickly glanced toward the living room, ensuring Chika was preoccupied and that Izumi was still in the bath. Relieved, she sighed and responded in a soft voice, "You're spoiling Chika too much. She's going to be impossible to handle."

Kirito smirked. "That's fine. I trust you to guide her properly."

Mikoto wiggled in his grasp, feeling the heat from his embrace. "Stop fooling around. I still need to cook."

Kirito chuckled and casually created a shadow clone. "Let the clone handle it."

Without waiting for her protest, he scooped Mikoto up in a princess carry and, in the blink of an eye, disappeared into their room.

Moments later, Izumi emerged from the bathroom, dressed in fresh clothes, drying her damp hair with a towel. She glanced around the living room, noticing only Chika playing happily and the shadow clone cooking in the kitchen.

"Where's Kirito and Mikoto?" she asked.

The shadow clone silently pointed toward Mikoto's room. Before Izumi could react, the muffled sound of soft murmurs and laughter drifted from the closed door.

Izumi's face turned beet red, and she stomped her foot in frustration. Puffing out her cheeks, she muttered, "That idiot... still as shameless as ever."

Meanwhile, in the room, Kirito smirked as he heard the familiar system prompt:

[Ding! Mission completed.]
