Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Part 2

You know, the essence of the home is connected to the multiverse, at least that is what I was told about it after I received the data about it. That means I could access any world I wanted and it would be super easy. But a good question that needs to be asked is, 'Should I?' That seemed to be my conundrum as I was contemplating visiting another world through the home essence. I mean, who hasn't dreamed of traveling to other planets, not even worlds which was sitting at the top of any nerds wishlist. Of course, as a magician, I was familiar somewhat with other realms, but other worlds were still a bit iffy.

Thinking about it, I decided to try the travel function just to see if it works. Just a quick portal, walk around a little bit, then portal home. But there was a problem, I have no idea of where to go or what to say to get it done. I thought and thought and thought, and I had an idea.

'Randomized portal please' I asked the essence and it responded in kind as a swirling green portal reminiscing Rick and Morty formed from the ground. I was unsure of what was on the other side but steeled my resolve and stuck my head through.

'Hmmm, an alley way' was what came up on the other side as I took a step out of the portal as it closed, sealing of the spatial coordinance. The place was very plain and had all the stereotypical looks associated with alleyways. 'A random direction it is then'.

I picked right and headed on towards the loudest source of noise. As I came out beyond the bend of the concrete brick walls and soothing silence, I emerged onto a street that was somewhat packed with people. Looking around, the place had signs in a language I was somewhat familiar with and thus it pinpointed where I was.

Korea.

A shining beacon on the world for its effects on entertainment and technology. It was a place many nerds wished to go outside of Japan. Korea was also a hotspot for certain disasters back in my old world.

I approached the first person I saw, which happened to be a youngish man with black hair, barely looked like he was living. In fact, If I blew air too hard he might fall over. "Hey there!". It was loud enough for the guy to snap his head in my direction. "Me?" he asked as he pointed to himself. "Of course" I smiled as he hurried over to my side as I noticed something unusual about him. His body was infused with mana, also known as magical power. His body was still naturallly human, but his body seemed like it shifted slightly to accomodate the precious energy, as if it wasn't meant to.

"What's your name?" I asked him as he stammered out his name. "Jinwoo, Sung Jinwoo" he stammered as he refused to look me in the eyes for some reason. "Alright, what year is it by the way?" I stared at him as I asked my question, with him finally facing me looking at me like I grew a second head.

"2016, why?" he looked at me incredulously and I looked away, not out of fear, just the fact I could feel him staring at me like I was stupid. It kind of was a stupid question but it was a necessary one of course.

"Is this Seoul?" I smiled, deflecting from the before situation and seemingly diving into another one. "Yes sir" he smiled as he then asked "Are you lost?" "A little, I was just making sure I made it to the right place" I walked away after our little conversation and began to walk around a little bit as was my goal. What also made me astonished was the amount of mana present in the air, like it was unusually thick for an industrial setting, atleast from what I was familiar with.

'Odd' I gazed around and decided to walk around and see if I could find the source of the unusual thickness for mana in the air. Wandering around in Seoul, I was able to find something that may be the source. It was as if a void of various colors opened up into the world. From the portal like structure, waves of mana were somewhat thick as they leaked into the air. Surrounding it was groups of humans, each emitting a different amount of mana in their bodies.

'Huh' I thought as I scoured the place for any prying eyes and casted a quick yet minor spell. If one wanted to look closely, I would be instantly found out, but its good for cursory glances. I muttered a minor incantation "For the world was pure, yet wool was pulled over their eyes". My body became unnoticeable and my existence was essentially hidden, behind a rug with ratty holes.

I walked briskly towards the portal and I could feel the mana eminating from the thing. I wasn't unusually thick but it was still papable. I decided to press my hand against it and I felt it was permeable, I could step through it. Feeling I would miss the oppurtunity, I quickly headed in and I felt the familiar sensation of the spatial barriers separating realms washing over me.

Incursions.

It wasn't an unfamiliar notion, in fact many problems we faced was sometimes because of the foreign realms breaching into our own. It was intriguing to me and I went further in. I only walked what felt like a couple blocks when I encountered a monster. Based on the green skin and vaguely ugly appearance, I can only assume its a goblin. I decided to test its toughness and I muttered a small incantation. "Warmth of the sun, danger forms from thy grace" a sphere of fire manifests. I could have shortened the incantation, but I decided some assured accuracy was needed for this test.

I sent the fireball forward as the goblin, who only lumbered there unassuming, was renedered aflame. Its screamed echoes through out the place. 'Okay, so very weak got it' I was able to get a read of the power level of this place.

Not only was the mana of these creatures a bit lacking, it seemed their strength was reflecting mana level, atleast surface wise. I delved further in and I encountered more beasts like goblins and even wolf beasts. Using my magic of fire and even some slight wind magic, I was able to quickly take care of them and get the precious stones which apparently were crystalized mana which resided in either the chest or stomach.

The mana itself was of slight density and purity ranges but it was still a good sample for mages like me. Feeling I had enough, and the fact I might cause trouble if I stayed here any longer, I opened a portal back home and I emerged back into the essence space. A place isolated yet connected to time, space, and even reality.

I was on the cool and luscious grass that felt comfortable to sleep on. It's not like there was bugs or nasty worms to crawl on me.

The nice and crisp air was calming. There was just something about nature and the way you could feel, see, touch, and even taste and hear that just made it something just so wonderful. I was then struck by a sudden thought and I decided to test the throne of heroes ability. I was going to summon a caster class.

I quickly activated the ritual and a searing glow was present through out until what was left was a shimmering purple cloak and the slightly pointed ears.
