Chapter 15 - DW: The Mechanic Chapter 15

A/N: hello everyone, I am sorry for not uploading in a while I have had very little time to do anything, anyway to things that may make you happy to know this is one of two chapters I have written the other already on patr*eon. This chapter is normal 2k or more the other is shorter since it just the creation of MC TARDIS. Well mostly we have yet to see what it looks like since I mentioned in earlier chapters the process of growing the TARDIS will cause MC to Enter restorative Sleep to avoid regeneration, it's like this because I did not want home to regenerate without having had his own adventures, I always thought it was a shame that nine only got one season, it was not enough time to see what that Doctor was like. Anyway hope you enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I am flying the TARDIS, I can hear the Doctor explaining what's happening, and I have to say he is very bad at it, but hey, it's his companion. As I think this, it dawns on me. I will have to do the same, if I ever take a companion in my TARDIS.

I suppose it's not his fault, and he does get better in the future. Then, in the corner of my eye, I see him begin his regeneration. It does not take long since, unlike ten, he was not holding it back to say goodbye to everyone, that regeneration ended with a bang, you might say.

Against my instincts, I let the break stay on so that Jackie and Mickie know we are coming, as for how I plan to do things with the Christmas invasion. I will help where I can, but unfortunately, once the goes into the regeneration coma, the universal translator for Rose goes away.

I can't act as a substitute for the circuit because a TARDIs uses it psychic link to its captain to do it. this means I will have to be a literal translator when needed. As I finish my thoughts the Doctor finishes his regeneration.

"Hello! Okay. Ooh. New Teeth. That's weird. So, where was I? Oh, that's right. Barcelona!". I have to admit, hearing that speech in person just makes me want to roll my eyes, however, I need to say something: "Careful, Doctor, you're still in your Regeneration. It seems that the damage done by the Heart of the TARDIS was greater than expected. You may need to go into a regeneration coma".

Hearing my words, he looks at me. However, before he can speak, he gets a jolt of pain. Luckily for him, I have been flying the TARDIS all this time, thanks to this, we are almost at our destination.

Not long later, the TARDIS comes to a stop. Before I can speak, the Doctor is out the Door in an over-dramatic way like in the episode, Rose, not too far behind him. As I approach the door, I hear Jackie ask the million-dollar question, "What do you mean that's the Doctor, Doctor Who?".

As I leave the TARDIS, "Nick, who is this?" Hearing my old name, I look at the source to see Jackie looking at me, "It is complicated, but that's the Doctor, the very same one that you tried to get to promise to keep Rose safe" Hearing my response, she looks at the doctor who at this point had collapsed entering a coma.

I walk over to the doctor, grabbing one side, before I look at Mickie "Give us a hand, we need to get him inside" after hearing me Mickie runs to the Doctors other side and grams him, once we both have a secure hold on him, we begin moving in the direction of Jackies apartment.

Once we get into Jackie's apartment, she directs us to a room that's close to the entrance of the apartment. I have to say, putting the Doctor to bed like a child is a funny memory that I will certainly tell his future wife about. It would be hilarious to see her reaction to it.

After getting the Doctor in bed, we all head to the living room. Once there, I begin to talk with Mickie about what had happened while we were away. I also inform him of what happened on our travels, hearing about how everyone except myself ended up in games. I did leave out the fact that we faced the Daleks.

As we are talking, I can hear Rose having a mental breakdown just like in the episode, I sigh, knowing how she views the doctor, before I say anything, Mickie goes towards Rose to comfort her. I follow behind him.

Once we arrive, I can feel the tension in the air. Sighing, I speak, "Jackie, Rose. The Doctor and I are different from you. We change to survive. Me becoming human is one way we change; another is what the Doctor is going through. It's why we choose names; they are our promise to ourselves. I mentioned this earlier to you, Rose, about our names". Rose nods at what I said, seeing she remembers I seak once more. "This is as much as I can say. I know this whole thing is confusing, but it's who we are".

Hearing me, they seem to relax at the last part, however, before they speak, I make a suggestion, "It's Christmas, why not go out, do some shopping, The Doctor will wake up once he is ready, so take this time as a break" after I finish the suggestion Mickie is the first to jump on to it.

It took Mickie almost an hour to convince Rose to go shopping with him, It's a shame that in the end it does not matter; Rose ends up with the Meta Crisis Doctor. As for me, well, I know what's coming, which leaves me with two options: one, stay here and wait for the pilot fish to show up or let things play out.

I would stay in the TARDIS to build something, but at the moment, I do not need to make anything; everything I need for my TARDIS is ready just need to find a dying star. That is only possible after all this is over. The issue is that some of the stuff that happens during these events is not important, except for the Doctor's hand being cut off.

If I intervene, I need to make sure that Rose brings the Doctor into the TARDIS as well as the flask of tea, no pressure. As I finish that, though, there's a ring at the door. Just before Jackie can answer it, I arrive at the door, stopping her.

She looks at me, "Jackie, it's strange for someone to ring at this time, most are either out shopping or busy watching TV, and before you say it could be Rose and Mickie, they would not be back yet, and Rose would have shouted by now".

Hearing my logic, Jackie steps back. I take the Sonic screwdriver that I will have to return to the TARDIS soon, ready to deal with the killer Christmas tree. As I open the door, I point the screwdriver at the tree as it comes into view before activating it, causing the tree to explode just like in the show.

After the tree is destroyed, I move outside the apartment to the railing, looking down to see the pilot fish looking at me. From behind me, I hear Jackie ask what they are, turning to her, I ask her to wait for an explanation till Rose and Mickie are back.

After an hour passes, Rose and Mickie finally come back looking panicked. I just look at them before speaking, "We know they tried to trick Jackie into bringing a Christmas tree into the apartment. They are pilot fish, scavengers that are here, most likely because they detected the energy coming from the Doctor, they are not the issue though".

I take a breath as everyone looks at me, confused" Pilot fish are scavengers, as I have already said, scavengers follow much larger groups to scavenge whatever is left behind. Meaning that something big is coming, and if the pilot fish found us here, then so will the larger group we need to move the Doctor to the TARDIS, it's the safest place" Rose nods at my words as she runs off to the room the doctor is sleeping in while yelling to Jackie to pack everything we will need.

As I watch, I notice the first thing Jackie starts to prepare is the Flask of tea. Once she finishes that, she moves to the cupboards, emptying every tin into a bag like some crazy lunatic, although too be fair to a human it might be but with the Doctor still kicking, I know it will work out fine, well except for Harriet jones giving Torchwood the go ahead to kill the retreating Sycorax.

I head to the Doctor to help move him, at least this time, Rose does not need to yell at Jackie to leave the food since there are three of us moving the Doctor. Surprisingly, it is fairly easy to get the doctor to the TARDIS.

Once inside, we carry him towards the console and lay him down next to it. Afterwards, Jackie arrives and starts offering tea to everyone, it's surprisingly funny, but I still take one and sit back and enjoy it while I wait for things to kick off.

After getting into an argument with Rose, Jackie leaves the TARDIS, stating she was going to make sure they got everything they would need. Mickie, on the other hand, starts messing with the display on the console before Rose walks over and does something on the display.

After a few minutes pass, Rose says she is going to see what's taking Jackie so long. As she opens the door, she is pulled out, not before she gives a small scream, and Mickie, being Mickie, runs after her. Once he is outside the TARDIS, I hear Rose yell at him to close the door, which he does.

Through all this, I am still standing there watching as everything goes on. As I look around, I notice that the flask Mickie was holding originally, after Jackie gave it to him before she left, was now on the floor right next to the Doctor.

I can clearly see the smock rising from below him, using my timelord brain, I know he will wake up in a few seconds, as for if I am worried about Rose and Mickie, not at all, I have already put safeties in place. My little spiders are already attached to both of them, as for the others, not my problem, especially Harriet Jones, although I am not against killing, killing a fallen foe is just wrong, there are exceptions for races like Daleks, but the Sycorax are nothing like the Daleks. If they could be classified as anything, it's more like space gangsters than anything.

As I was thinking, I hear a gasp, so I look at the Doctor, who is now awake and looking at me," Finally awake, sleeping beauty. " he looks at me as if to say Really. I just shrug, "No time to chat, you should go deal with what's out there" he stands up, making his way to the door.

Sighing, I slowly follow behind him to see what follows. As I exit the TARDIS, making sure I close the Door, I watch as the Doctor starts his, well, I can only describe it as a one-sided monologue since the Doctor is not letting the Sycorax leader even speak.

Of course, the whole monologue ends with the doctor challenging the Sycorax leader to single combat, and the leader, being a smug idiot, just accepts, it is impossible to win; the Doctor is still within his regeneration cycle. We are on a ship, how could they not have detected the regeneration energy?

The leader directs everyone to a door that I confirm is the same door that leads to where the duel took place in the episode. Both the doctor and the Sycorax leader are given a sword each. Once everyone is far enough away, the duel begins with everything playing exactly like the episode.

I have to admit that watching the Doctor's hand be cut off is not exactly as shown in the episode because this is real life; seeing it on screen is one thing, but watching it in real life is something else. This can be seen by the reaction of all the humans present; luckily for them, his hand starts to grow back. Seeing this, Rose rushes to one of the guards, grabs the sword at his waist, and throws it to the doctor, who nimbly catches it and continues the duel with the upper hand this time.

Just like the episode, the duel ends with the Doctor's victory; however, just as the Doctor is walking away, the Sycorax leader tries to attack him. The doctor pulls something from the dressing gown that Rose had put on him and throws it at the button next to the door.

The object hits the button, causing the ground beneath the leader to collapse, causing the leader to fall from the ship.

After giving his warning to the rest of the Sycorax, everyone is sent back to the surface via a transmat. Once everyone sees the ship leaving, everyone starts to celebrate, except for me and Harriet, who is pulled to the side by her assistant.

I watch as five green beams collide above us, and a final beam shoots from the centre of the collision heading straight for the Sycorax ship. Moments later, the ship explodes, killing everyone onboard. Looking at the Doctor, I can see he is angry at what has just happened.

He walks towards Harriet and talks to her before he whispers something into Harriet's assistant's ear, with Harriet scrambling to find out what he said, even asking her assistant what he said. Seeing that the doctor is finished, I walk over and we leave the area, heading back to Jackie's apartment.

Of course, we take the TARDIS back since we had no idea where the Sycorax had dropped us off. Once we arrive, the Doctor said he will follow us after he has got something more appropriate. It reminds me I need to pick an outfit for myself once I have time. Currently, I am wearing the same kind of clothes I wore when I was human.

After settling back into Jackie's living room, they begin to discuss something. I take out a mobile phone I had gotten from my old apartment it was one of the old spare I had from when I was human, as it turns out Mickie had not gotten rid off all my old stuff he just boxed it all, anyway I had done what the Doctor did to roses phone.

"Jackie, catch" She barely catches it, looking at me in confusion" It's a phone similar to Roses, you can call anywhere. So long as you have the number, of course," Jackie just looks more confused at what I said until Rose speaks" What he is trying to say is, so long as you have that phone, you can contact me or the Doctor" .

As Rose finishes speaking, the Doctor walks in "So you gave Jackie an upgraded phone?" I just nod before he speaks again," So about that dying star?" I cut him off, "It's Christmas, it can wait till tomorrow, not to mention you just finished regenerating, best give it a day".
