Latif was already crouching with his head in his arms when the gunfire started.
When he lifted his head again, bodies were strewn all around.
A pair of Salomon military boots came into view, and a low, unfamiliar voice asked, "Are you Latif?"
Latif slowly raised his head.
He couldn't make out the face behind the camouflage scarf.
"You are...?"
"Song Heping. Yusuf sent me to find you."
Latif breathed a sigh of relief, his tensed body finally relaxing.
"If you came any later, you wouldn't have found me."
Song Heping looked at the bodies around and his gaze fell on the leader.
The leader who had been arrogant before was now like a trembling little sheep, no longer the fierce beast he once was.
"Klein, I'll leave him to you. Get the information we want as fast as possible."
"OK, leave it to me."
Klein said to Collins, "Buddy, give me a hand, let's drag this guy into the house next door."
