Summary:
Racing to stop the clock
Chapter Text
Pearl frantically paced back and forth across the living room as she waited for Garnet to return on the warp pad. It had been weeks since they lost sight of Moldavite, and they weren't any closer to finding out where she was. Such an unsteady fusion roaming around freely could be doing who knows how much irreversible harm to the planet's ecosystem and societal structure!
"Well, we can mark out Antarctica, Greenland, the North Pole, and the South Pole." Lapis spoke, doodling on a map they kept in the living room. "Amethyst checked the desert the lion was found at …"
"Nothing but sand, sand, and more sand." The purple gem complained.
"That still leaves us with multiple continents …" Lazuli pondered. "And Garnet's checking australia?"
"All the way down undah, mate." Amethyst snickered as the warp pad lit up, revealing their leader. "Threw some shrimp on the Barbie and wrestled some gators?"
"I punched a kangaroo giving me business." Garnet responded with her usual monotone. "Also no sign of Moldavite."
"That narrows it down, but not by much." Pearl lamented as it was crossed out. "If we knew what they needed OTHER than just scrap, we might be able to reach them before anything too serious could occur." But all they got for any semblance of an answer was the … mashed together gems … that sent Garnet on a massive hunt to personally rip the fusion apart for answers.
"What's the point of force fusing gems anyway? Sure they're freaking looking, but they aren't that strong, and they don't even move that well either." Amethyst brought up
"No … you can make them from just a few shards." Lapis stated coldly. "And given how many gems have been shattered on earth alone, even excluding every shattering that's ever happened on homeworld … the numbers would probably be a lot bigger than what the temple can hold."
"Not to mention…we don't know how many …gems they….forced together…or how big." Garnet gripped her hands tightly. "Even if they don't have the greatest intellect, a broken … mindless … creature … can still cause a lot of damage."
"And it's not just Gravesfield. I've seen them in Brazil and Russia when searching for Moldavite." Pearl stated. "We won't be able to cover everywhere, Amethyst."
"I get that, just saying I don't see the point in Homeworld making them if they're weaker than the average gem, heck, weaker than corrupted gems." Amethyst responded. "Plus Moldavite didn't seem all that interested in them."
"They're the most toxic fusion combination to ever exist, it's a miracle coherent thoughts are able to form from her at all." Pearl groaned, rubbing her gem. "Do you think you could simply just generate an electro magnetic pulse to disable their technology?" She asked Garnet. "They are limited with Earth tech."
"Nothing on that grand of a scale. I can jumpstart electronics and defibrillate hearts, but a controlled pulse of that magnitude is outside my range." Garnet explained. "Maybe we can work something out from scrap ourselves …"
"Wouldn't she just control it?" Lapis brought up. "Controlling metal is her deal. Best bet is for me to drown her toys and short circuit them.."
"Unless she's accounted for that and water proofed her equipment." Pearl brought up the possibility. "I hate to even bring it up… but is there a mystical solution to this?"
"Yo Vee." Amethyst moved over to the Imposter, who was on the phone with Connie. "You know any magic spells for giant metal monsters?"
"Just a sec." They placed the phone down. "Lucci and Luz said they fought a 'Castle Stomper', maybe try asking them about it?" The snake suggested.
"Given the lack of context they've given us thus far, I highly doubt they're going to be open about it." Pearl groaned.
"I could ask if you want Pearl." The imposter tried to worm their way into their lives once more.
"That would be greatly appreciated, Vee." Garnet spoke before Pearl could say anything.
"Cool, give me a minute, I have to remember which phone number Lucci uses, he steals one every week." Why hasn't anyone done anything about the boy's kleptomania? "Oh, sorry Connie, I need to talk with the Witch gang about Moldavite. Talk to you later?" The girl paused. "It's not like we're trying to exclude you, I'm hardly involved in the fighting myself." More pausing. "Actually I'd rather you didn't go out on the front lines and risk your life. In fact, the moment this thing attacks town, I'm coming over to your house to hide out with you … if your parents won't mind." More pausing. "Well at least one of your parents likes me, so I'm cool with that."
"Why did you involve yourself with that charade in the first place?" Pearl groaned.
"Because regardless of what's happened, Vee IS the child we raised. You may feel free to separate yourself from her, that is your decision." Garnet responded. "Just don't ever….EVER interfere with it… or else."
Pearl internally shivered. "I understand." She stated, looking back at the map. She wouldn't involve herself with the imposter, they weren't her problem … "Now what do we do as to finding them? There's still an entire planet to search."
"My future vision has been of no help lately either. I haven't been able to see a future where we catch up to her….wait…" Garnet paused. "Be ready in two hours."
"Why does that thing never work when we need it beforehand?" Lapis muttered. "It almost seems intentional."
"The future is a long and wide river, constantly dividing itself into multiple streams of endless possibilities…one could go mad trying to process it all."
======================================================================
"So we're about to be attacked at any moment?" Willow asked as she finished up some stretches … on the beach … damn it, she really … REALLY hated beaches. Living next to one only cemented that hate more.
"According to Garnet's future vision, yep." Amethyst nodded. "And she's rarely wrong about this kinda stuff."
"She wasn't able to tell you had a shapeshifting magic eating Basilisk living with you for fourteen years." Boscha deadpanned bluntly.
"I did say rarely, that doesn't mean never." Amethyst shrugged.
"Oracle magic is snorseshit, so pardon me if I take your warning with a grain of salt." Lucci rolled his eyes.
"So …" Pearl started. "They said you had experience dealing with robotics?"
"Yeah, Bismuth made a giant mech and a power suit." Luz said as she looked over her sword. "The former was super big and powered by a shooting star and wailing stones, the other was powered by a spirit scroll and made of titan's vein, stuff the sword can't cut through." She explained. "Managed to crack Lucci's diamond gem and force us to work with the Coven heads to manage a win."
"Yeah, I've been hearing this Bismuth gal's name over and over again, yet I still have no idea who you're talking about." Amethyst said. "Garnet? Pearl, any explanations?"
"Bismuth…she was one of our greatest allies and closets friends." Garnet explained. "She was a founding member of the crystal gems, and fought harder against homeworld than anyone we knew."
"With friends like those who needs enemies." Boscha rolled her eyes.
"... The sheer hypocrisy of that statement gives me a migraine." Willow rubbed her head from the oncoming headache.
"Well on the Boiling Isles, she was known as the Rainbow Devil, and spent four hundred years amassing power and resources, which she used to try and kill me in a massive raze against the Isles." Lucci growled. "Last we saw her, she was absorbed by Belos and stuck in his mindscape."
"And this Belos is … dead?" Pearl asked.
"Brutally so." Hunter nodded firmly.
"The collector blew him into pieces." Luz added.
"Wait … the collector … as in child of the stars and moon Collector!?" Pearl exclaimed.
"Yeah…did we not say this before?" Lucci asked.
"Not really, our main focus was on getting home, so we haven't explained much." Amity said.
"What's the big deal?"
"... Humans worship God, Witches worship the Titan." Lapis spoke. "The gems worshiped the Archivists." … What?! "Even the Diamonds gave their thanks and blessings to those reality bending powerhouses."
"Archivists ... you mean…there's more than ONE!?" Willow exclaimed.
"There are as many Archivists as there are stars in the sky, they said." Pearl nodded. "They're perhaps the most powerful species in existence, right under celestial sapiens. The only difference is that Archivists retain enough singular cognitive function to act upon their wills and desires."
"Unlike Homeworld, they do desire to preserve the life they encounter, but only a small few for their 'collection'." Garnet continued. "Once they feel like a species has provided enough or can no longer advance themselves to another state of evolution, they eliminate life…permanently."
Great, just another way to give Willow existentialism! "Wait." Lucci looked confused. "The one we saw was-"
Crack
… They stared as the street, cracks forming in the ground, spreading around as multiple thuds came from the ground. "They're here." Garnet stated. "Be on guard."
CREAK
CEEEEEAAAAAK
"So last time Moldavite's whole deal was collecting metal." Hunter gripped Flapjack as the rest of them got out their palisman. "What was it for?"
"My guess?" Amity asked. "More of those pesky marbles."
CRASH
The ground opened up … as an army of those 'robonoids' came crashing through, scattering about and getting their bearings on stable land.
"If there's one thing that makes this whole thing easier, it's that their little round freaks will be a cake to crush back into scrap!" Boscha yelled, lighting up her hands and throwing a massive fireball, smelting one of the bigger ones into a puddle.
"Alright Angel!" Lucci cheered. "You, me, and Spinel will head for the center, Luz, you and Amity will take the left and-" Everyone stopped listening as the Marble Boscha attacked began…putting itself together again. Bits of metal flew right towards to build it back up. "What the hell!?"
"They have healing factors!" Gus shouted as lasers began firing at them.
"Moldavite must've gotten better control over her powers to resemble them this fast!" Luz exclaimed as she was forced to slice one in half that had jumped right at her.
"She kept mentioning data!" Hunter said as he warped behind one, covering the legs in ice. "They probably used the Kindergarten as a test run. Everything she saw us do was accounted for and added to their capabilities!" It used a saw to break out of the ice, before trying to swing at the warping blonde.
"I hate it when the bad guys actually have brains!" Amity tried to charge ahead with her abomination gauntlets, forcing the marbles back just a little, only for them to instantly begin fixing themselves once, more attacking the group again.
"This is so much more tedious than Bismuth." Lucci complained as he smashed one into the ground. "They make things out of metal, the orbs steal metal, we crush the orbs, new orbs are made. Rinse and repeat on an endless cycle!"
"Fighting the robonoids is pointless in the long run, we need to take it to the source controlling them all!" Pearl yelled as she stabbed one, only for it to walk away with her spear with its own grip on. "Garnet, can you see where Moldavite's placed herself?!"
"Give me a minute!" She punched another marble, looking like she was focusing. "... She's on the far end of the town, away from the coastline and forest!"
"Oh come on!" Willow and Lapis shouted.
"She's accounted for everyone she's fought before, either as Peridot, Jasper, or as Moldavite." Pearl groaned. Another way to stop Willow from helping.
"Wait … then why is she here?" Luz asked. "She'd have a much better chance in a desert or mountain area. What does she want?"
"... Jasper." Lucci stated as he tossed away a marble. "Fusions have to deal with both parts of the mind, and one of them hates me more than anything."
"She was willing to throw away any sense of logic the moment you came into the picture." Hunter nodded in agreement. "And Peridot doesn't exactly have a high opinion of either me or Boscha, so if we're going to split them apart, exploiting those triggers is the best way.
"We'll keep them busy here!" Lapis shouted as she sent forth watery spears through multiple marbles using a fire hydrant. "Just go there and get rid of this mess already!"
"We can't send Lucifer near-" Pearl was forced to stop talking as a marble tried to slice her. "Oh just shut off!" She shouted, stabbing the machine multiple times before tossing it away.
"Let's ride over before we're forced to fight Pearl." Amethyst said, throwing one into the sea.
"I can poof her quite easily, you know." Lucci stated.
"Yeah, but we need the numbers." Willow countered. "If she gets in the way too much, then we poof her."
"Point taken … today's gonna be a slugfest." She couldn't agree more. Willow was gonna be so tired in the morning.
========================================================================
Marcy whistled, gazing out at the coastline as Anne drove them to the town. She would've driven herself, but her driver's license had been revoked for the third time this year due to her easily distractible nature, which she was improving on. Last time she drove, she only crashed into two mailboxes instead of ten, and there was hardly a dent in that street lamp when it fell over! "Lookin nice."
"I know right?" Anne said. "You'd think a beach would get boring compared to a lot of the stuff we've seen, but it's got such a serene vibe to it."
"You think Sash was just using this as an excuse for us together over the weekend?" Marcy asked. Wouldn't be the weirdest thing the girl had ever done.
"That's what I thought at first, but Sasha was pretty serious over the phone, and you know how serious she takes her job as a therapist." Anne responded. "I almost didn't believe her, I mean, for one group of kids to be transported to another world is one thing, but to meet another group? And for her to just find it, seems a bit coincidental."
"Who says it's a coincidence? We were the chosen ones of Amphibia. Who's to say this isn't all apart of the cosmic plan life had for all of us?" Marcy smirked.
"Because the prophecy said I had to die, and I say fuck that." Anne shot back. "Fate doesn't exist, we just do as we do."
"Come on, is it that bad to believe in some kind of plan? I'm not saying every moment of every day needs to be planned out to the exact detail, but to know for sure your life leads to something…It's a little comforting." She put in her two cents
"I think it's fine. The unknown helps us grow, change into something new. Amazing …" The girl smiled. "Come on, can't you really think of a different topic?"
"... You mean you finally want to talk about setting up a dating account?"
"Mar-Mar, don't you make me throw you out of this car. I threw Hop Pop off a cliff, and I will do the same to you."
"You're the one who didn't specify topics." Marcy smirked. "Come on, Sasha's put herself out there. She's dated plenty of guys and girls."
"And I'm quite fine not putting myself into the dating life." She said. "If you want to talk about dating, we could always discuss your interactions with the AI on your phone."
"You leave Magenka Chan out of this." She hugged her device defensively. "They're super helpful, and help dust off the details for my webcomic."
"I thought we talked about your addiction to your phone-" Anne immediately pumped the brakes, causing Marcy to hit her head against the dashboard.
"Gah!" She exclaimed in pain. "What was that for?"
"The robot uprising finally came."
"Already? I thought we had at least five more years until that happened." She asked as Marcy saw what Anne was getting at. Hundreds of shiny green marble things flooded the streets, bits of metal forming together into new marbles as they trudged along. "They're a lot more round than I was expecting."
"And with no visual ports." Anne agreed. "I'd at least expect a stick on the front like one of those Galek from your Doctor show." The things came over to the car, immediately beginning to rip it apart with blades. "Hey, I just got this ensured!"
"Clearly they don't care." Marcy deadpanned as she jumped out of the car, taking out her gun. "Luckily they didn't take away my license for this!" She shouted. "Eat lead sucka!" She fired off the bullets … which were absorbed into the body. "... Hu, it actually ate lead."
"Good to know. Let's see how it likes eating cold hard steel!" Anne grabbed a sword from her truck and sliced one in half…only for it to pull itself together. "Apparently very well … Hm…I can't tell if this is more or less terrifying than Adrais's castle ship." Anne spoke up.
"Didn't the Core eventually throw the moon at us?" Marcy brought up.
"Huh, fair enough." The girl nodded. "... Run until we can figure out how to put these guys down?"
"Add 'try to find Sasha in the middle of this metal mess' to that list and we'll be good to go." Anne nodded. "Think you can manage balancing on top of a bunch of round marbles for the next half hour or so."
"Pfft, easy peasy, Anna-Banana. I'm not as clumsy as I was as a kid."
"Your jacket's on fire." WHAAAAAAT!?
"No!!!!!! This was a limited edition, you metallic monstrosities!" Marcy screamed in rage as she rushed forward. Vengeance was hers!
========================================================================
Lucci gazed up at the giant green pillar. "So Moldy's inside … you all ready to knock on the front door?" He asked, forming a hammer with Sugar.
"That's likely going to get all the attention of whatever security the metal menace has around." Luz stated, gripping her sword.
"We need to draw out her attention either way." Garnet formed her gauntlets. "There isn't much we can do beyond the direct approach. She's likely learned to anticipate illusions and teleporting, so catching her off guard won't be an option."
"Okay then, knocking it is." Boscha raised her hand up, firing off a ball of flames at the door. "Open up you three headed maniac, we have complaints we'd like to register!"
For a second it seemed like nothing happened. Lucci frowned. "They must have not heard-" Two tendrils shot from holes in the pillar, grabbing him and Boscha. "You?" And instantly yanked them inside, slamming Lucci against a wall very roughly, followed by metallic slams of the entrance shutting behind them.
"A new lifeform to bring for dissection, and Rose Quartz. Truly the Diamonds will reward us for our efforts once we leave."Lucci glared up at Moldavite, shiner than ever, Jasper's head glaring right at him with the same type of fury Bismuth had at times, while Peridot's stared intently at Boscha, who was held inside one of the tendrils.
"Oh trust me, Mold-a-Bitch, you just lost any chance of me letting you leave this place alive." He growled, growing pink with his claws and fangs extending out.
"Big words. They mean absolutely nothing, and they will mean even less than nothing once I'm done with-"
Zap
" Don't presume too much Jasper, the last thing we want to get is distracted." The fusion growled.
"Didn't you build part of this armor to let her rampage while we worked in peace?" Peridot asked, gazing intently at his angel like she was an animal to cut apart.
"You won't get to do any of that!" Lucci jumped forward. "I'm putting an end to-"
SLAM
Lucci was hit by that robotic fist, sending him crashing into the wall. "Go on, get back up. I insiston giving me a reason to beat you senseless."Jasper gave a grin.
"What even is your freaking deal here, Moldy!? Nothing about anything you've done makes sense!" Boscha yelled.
"Give me a reason I should divulge any information to two prisoners."They stated in an uncaring tone. "Even if it's miniscule, there's a chance you could break free and cause problems. I'm not a moron who takes needless risks."
"Newsflash, Moldabitch, I'm not bound. And if I can't hit you, then I'll start by breaking this giant toy of yours." He growled, slamming his fist into the wall.
Ding
There was a moment of silence as Lucci felt a bit of pain in his hand, only a small dent was made into it. "We made that to stop Jasper from rampaging. Do you really think it'd be so easily destroyed?"
"So what you're saying is that this place is essentially one giant punching bag….good to know." He grabbed Sugar, and using ax mode, began slicing all across the room in a constant circle, slicing up the walls
"You may be able to move faster than an optical nerve can blink, but that doesn't mean I can't anticipate where you are!" They began firing one of their arm cannon's at them, only for the being to pull its own arm down.
"Stop being illogical. They have an obvious weakness."Moldavite stated bluntly.
"If it's stamina, I'm telling you now I have a LOT of pent up aggression from this week!" Lucci shouted.
"No. Your ridiculous notion of emotions and attachments. Cease your movements or the live test subject becomes an expired one within three nanoseconds."And with that, Moldy began shocking his Angel. " It wasn't in the original mission after all, optional bonus."
"AGGGGGGGGH…OOOH YOU MOLDY BITCH!" He was going to jump for it and take their stupid heads off..!
Sadly, it seemed that this headache wasn't capable of letting them even finish touching sentences, as Jasper's hand grabbed Lucci, crushing him to the point he could feel something crack. "This probably kills you so much on the inside Rose, doesn't it! Being Helpless to protect what you love while you help yourself like a coward!"
"You calling…my Crystal….a coward…..When you're….the biggest scaredy cat here…." Boscha coughed, laughing.
"Would you care to-"
Zap
"Don't fall for their ploys, just focus on crushing your little Rose while the rocket completes itself."Moldy stated.
"So that's what you're planning….a rocket…..you're so terrified of Rose Quartz that you're running back to whatever backwards planet you came from, accomplishing nothing!" Boscha laughed.
" That is NOT what's been going on mentally in the process of building this rocket! And I can assure you Homeworld is absolutely NOT BACKWARDS, you three eyed neanderthal-"
Zap
"Why do you two insist on making this harder than it needs to be?"
"So what then?" The pink turned off, trying to think of some strategy to get Boscha free. Moldy was a two complete psychopaths combined, and if Belos taught him anything, she would kill them the moment it seemed like they weren't worth the monologue.
"I want…OFF this rock. I'm sick of it! So little technology, so little advancements, so many primitive lifeforms, and if I have to spend another moment on top of this dying rock, I'm going to lose it!"
"Great, I'm relating to the megalomaniac alie-" He paused. "Dying?"
" Yes, and the moment the rocket is finished, I'm leaving you here to die along with it while I take the speciman back-
"SHE'S LITERALLY IN THE PALM OF OUR HANDS! WE HAVE TO SHATTER HER NOW!"
ZAP
" The greatest joy in my life will be the second I defuse and never come into being again." Moldy groaned. "So yes. My plan is at the epoch of its completion. I have anticipated everything your allies could do, from your optical illusions, to your warping capabilities, to your external manipulation over the elements." She stated. "And the MOMENT either of you becomes more trouble than you're worth … we let Jasper have her way."
"Please…please be more trouble. I insist."
Lucci felt a shaking in his hair, reminding him of something he had almost forgotten about, and felt a smirk crawling onto his face. "So, let me ask you a question … how long can you keep this up?" He asked.
" Are you seriously so deluded you think you somehow have the upper hand in this situation?" Peridot questioned him.
"Oh no, you definitely have us cornered, with no method of escape." He noted. "I dare say we're doomed … but from your interactions it doesn't seem like fusion is all that welcome on Homeworld, is it?" There was a silence. "So … are you defusing in orbit here, orbit there … or not at all?"
" Of course I'm defu-"
"We're staying like this as long as possible."
The two heads stared at Jasper's. "You…you actually find this form…ENJOYABLE!?"
"At first I despised it as much as you. This armor, no honor … but every inch feels just like my own skin thanks to the implants." They smirked. "We are BEYOND raw power itself!"
"Jasper, be reasonable. We are staying as long as necessary to contain Rose Quartz and the organic. We will defuse after they are finely contained."
"Don't you see, this is my one moment to utterly trash that traitorous gem once and for all! It's the only time I'll have to give Rose the pain she gave Pink Diamond ten fold!" If he even gave the slightest crap about his womb donor, he would enjoy completely turning her world upside down.
"I am not staying in this repulsive and disgraceful state any longer than I need to be!"
Zapboth of them were shocked.
"The mission comes first, put your feelings aside-"
"Shut it!"The heads began biting the center one.
That was the problem with fusions … they were only slightly better than Lucci when it came to the sanity power ratio. "So…while you work out your three stooges routine, me and my lovely angel will be making our way outside right now." He smirked, shaking his head, and giving his secret weapon the signal.
"Would you shut it with-"Pink arms swung around the heads. "What … these arms!"
"Weee, new game!" Said arms formed a face as the fusion was covered in pink. "Oooh, I remember you…time for a rematch!"
"Oh, I thought you said you accounted for ALL my allies." Lucci smoked as the blob of pink surrounded Moldy. "Then again, there's no accounting for my funnest friends, Spinel!"
"Darn Tootin, Lucci!" Spinel twirled her fist around, turning her hand into a massive hammer "Dada daddadada adadada..-Pop goes the weasel!" And smashed off the extra heads.
The moment they fell off, there was a strange stillness to the air, the hand grabbing him and the tendril grabbing Boscha both relaxed, falling limp as the two fell to the ground.
"Boscha!" He ran to his girlfriend. "Are you alright?" He looked her over, seeing bruises and bleeding all over.
"I've taken worse. You've seen my Grudgby games." She laughed as Lucci kissed every inch of her face as he could to heal her. "Although…I wouldn't mind you doing this the whole night, you know…just in case." She smirked mischievously.
"Yay, I won my rematch!" Spinel joined and hugged the two of them. "Three on three games are supa fun! We should do this more often. Go team PINK!"
"We should … and I will be enjoying tonight …" He smiled back at Boscha, before looking at the dead fusion. "… Surprised they haven't done any-" And I'm an instant, there was activity.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"The cries of the damned called out, the legs spinning out at such a speed that Lucci had to pull up his shield in front of his Angel.
Crick
And watched as a cracked form, the force launching them back, Lucci doing the best he could to cushion his angel, the two of them slamming against the wall, spinel herself acting as a second cushion to the both of them.
"The voices…. the anger…the unfiltered emotions… it all coming to meALL AT ONCE!" The de armored fusion began spinning out of control. "TOO MANY THOUGHTS TOMANY THOUGHATS TOMANY THOUGHTS ALL AT ONCE!" The rampaging machine screamed.
"Yeah…Ain't I a stinka?" Spinel smirked.
"You … You … You …"Lucci instantly felt his pockets shift, as every bit of loose change flew out … along with his cell phoon … and bits of the ship around them. "YOUUUUU!!"And the broken pieces began to reform … into a singular, massive head.
"So…you know how when I turned into a ghost, and the pink me was more powerful because it ran on cold logic with no emotion attached?" He turned to his girlfriend.
"Yeah."
"I think Moldavite was the opposite."
The head began glowing like it did in the Kindergarten, light pooling inside of its maw. "I-WE-US WILL SCORCH THE PLANET WITH YOUR CARCASES!"
"Everyone get down!" He put Spinel and Boscha into a bubble and lit up a hexagon in front of him. "I'll hold it back as much as I can!"
"Lucci, you're unprotected!" Boscha yelled.
"No time! Just brace for impact!"
KAAAAAAABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH
========================================================================
Luz attacked another marble … and another … and another … "Please tell me your battery power." She pleaded to the regenerating minions. Their response was to pull out blades and try to cut her up. "Dang you ultimate alien power sources!" She screamed as she went right back to cutting.
When Lucci and Boscha were taken they tried to break in, only for marbles to jump out and assault them. "Get back you creeps!" Amethyst shouted, swinging one around like a flail, looking a bit worn out from the constant battling. "They just go on, and on…and on….and oon…."
"These are somehow more annoying to deal with than the abomatrons!" Gus shouted, taking out the prism and directing it to shoot lasers at the marbles.
"At least they go down when you hit them!" Amity shouted. "Please tell me someone found a solution to deal with them!"
"I think I got something." Garnet stated, holding one of the robots up in the air. "I'm going to start hitting this one really hard and really fast."
"....Are all gems just that blunt and direct?" Hunter paused for a moment. "Because it explains alot about Clawthorne."
"Maybe." She threw it down. "But I just like it that way." And then the fusion proceeded to cause shockwaves with a repetitive flurry of strikes too fast for the eye to see other than blurs, which after a solid minute, left nothing but scrap and liquids too small to be called machinery.
"… How did Lucci beat you the first time you met?" Amity asked, looking at the carnage.
"Half my attention was focused on figuring out how to defeat him when we first met…that and his speed was comparable to mine, and encountering an enemy like that is rare for me."
"I hope you can keep the speed up." Luz looked at the army. "They're over the shock now." And now she had to avoid even more long range fire. "Willow, how are you holding up?"
"I have…to fight….with just my palisman….and a couple of vines!" Willow shouted tiredly as she had wrapped vines around clover, turning them into a club to smash open Marbles. "Ask me again…when I'm not…drowning in dumb marbles!"
"At least you can do something!" Gus shouted as he used Emmile like a blunt object. "How come even the weak stuff sees my illusions now!? I can't keep upping the scale like you guys can!"
"You're doing enough as it is Gus!" Hunter shouted, warping around as he made the earth turn into spikes. "Garnet, how many more can you put down for good?"
"...I'll answer you when I can find a path that raises that number to double digits."
"Seriously!?" Luz yelled. "Is there a future where you at least see Lucci and Boscha getting out of there!? The longer they're inside, the more likely they're getting ripped apart!"
"Not unless you can buy me and Amethyst a full hour on that door. Or they break out on-"
KAAAAAAABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH
They watched as a beam of destruction blasted from the ship … and chipped a section of a Mountain. From the beam a familiar pink sphere made of hexagons landed, cracked all over and steaming rolling out, a curly haired figure landing right on top of it.
"LUCCI!" Amity and her yelled out at the same time, running up to them.
"Now…I know…how…bacon feels…when Mom burns them to a crisp." Lucci coughed out, covered in soot while his hair was smoking. "Boscha…Spinel…you alright?"
"Most part …" Spoke the three eyed witch with a terrible case of sunburn. "… It hurts to move …"
"Whataya talking about? I feel refreshed." Spinel smiled obliviously, twisting her head. "Let's do that again!"
"Maybe later." Willow came up to them. "What happened inside of there?"
"Moldy's building a rocket to get off earth. Couldn't fight them directly, so we had to mess with their heads with mind games." Boscha wheezed. "Spinel smashed the extra heads…they couldn't handle the voices all at once."
"They got a wee bit angry." Lucci said, trying to stand. "And I think we changed their motivation from leaving to murdering."
" I am more than capable of doing both!"A messed up and distorted voice came into the air as the marbles floated into the air, and Moldavtie, with less armor and heads, floated above them. "You didthis tomethe voiceswon'tshutup theagonyis overwhelmingJUST MAKE IT STOOOPPP!"
"This is what happens when you can't get along!" Garnet shouted. "You need to defuse!"
"WHATDOYOUTHINKIWANTTODO WEHAVETHEMSURROUNDED, WE CAN KILL THEM ALL FOCUS WE'REDONE LISTENING TO YOU!" They began charging another beam, as the marbles began charging as well, with multiple missiles preparing to fire.
"… I'm sorry we never went past kissing." Amity muttered at the very clear image of death in front of them.
"It's okay Sweet Potato, at least we have each other in these final moments." She held Amity close and passionately. "We can have one final kiss before the end comes."
"Awww, see Anne, now that's beautiful! How can you deny yourself something like that?" An unknown voice made itself known.
"Just because it works for highschoolers doesn't mean it's going to work for me." Another unknown voice was heard as something small, round, and black was thrown right at Modavite, who caught it easily.
" This suppose to beanother oneofyourtricks?"
"No." Luz answered honestly.
BZZZZZZTTTTT
Moldavite fell to the ground, along with the marbles, falling to the side, completely inert. "But I so wish it was."
The group looked at three women holding up weapons, sweat lining their brows as they continuously struck as the machinery with swords and shots. "How long have you been holding on to that one Anne!?" The familiar voice of…Dr Waybright(!?)….shouted as they tore into the machinery.
"Since Andrias's invasion! Dad was able to keep one of Mr. X's weapons, and he gave it to me one Christmas for a special occasion!" The darker skinned woman responded, stabbing Moldavite's armor. "How's the taste of super science feel, you metalic bitch!?"
"GRRRAAAA!!!"Luz could feel the metal in her pockets floating up … along with her sword…and the scabbard that was strapped to her back….. Ah nuts. "DIE!"A blast sent everything metallic flying, regardless if it was attached to someone or not.
"Luz!" Willow grabbed her in the air.
"Spinel, lasso game, round everyone up!" Lucci shouted.
"Yay, so many fun games after another!" The lanky gem gem cheered as she used her arms to rope everyone in, preventing everyone else from flying off too far.
Palisman we're used to safely land everyone, as they took a breather. "So … super science?" Amethyst asked after a moment, turning to the three newcomers.
"Made by black market government scientists from discarded alien/extra dimensional tech they were able to scrounge up." The lady with black hair explained with a smile. "But enough about that, what about what just happened! Alien invasion, whoooo! I mean, it's terrible that it's happening because of the whole trying to kill us thing, but you can't deny that wasn't a little exciting, right?"
"It was more nostalgic than exciting." The dark skin woman retorted. "Anyone lose a limb?"
"Nah, just a few scratches, not a big deal." Their therapist cracked their neck. "What about you kids? One piece?" The woman asked, looking pretty stunning as the light of the sun bounced off her face.
"...Luz….I think we have the coolest therapist in the world." Amity said. "..And if we weren't dating I'd want to kiss her."
"Same." She nodded. Definitely something for future bedroom talk.
"Yep, they're fine." The dark skinned woman snorted. "So, what's the dealio in dealing with greeny here?"
"Hold up, hold up, hold up…" Lucci coughed, turning to the three. "Not saying I'm not grateful for the assist … but what just happened and who are you?!"
Ms. Waybright chuckled. "You remember how I said I was stuck in another dimension myself." The group collectively nodded. "These two knuckle heads came along with me."
"We can talk about stories later." Garnet spoke. "We have a bigger problem on our hands." She stared at what appeared to be a massive pile of metal spinning around into a tornado. "Moldavite finally snapped."
"And she's moved locations." Hunter pointed out, the scraps notably heading…above the city. "You said she was making a rocket?"
"Yep." Boscha nodded.
"So what happens when a rocket that big is launched right above the city?" Gus asked.
"I estimate…about everything in a fifty to hundred mile radius will be blown apart from the launch." The black haired woman spouted.
They stared in silence … before collectively sighing. "It's that kinda day, isn't it?" At least it looks like they had adults that understood the situation for once.
