A Zombie Apocalypse AU
At the break of dawn leading into a new year brought forth a life riddled with agony. All those who suffered from a worldwide fever either perished and awoke as a monster or lived and became superhumans.
The unlucky, however, retained their consciousness after death, walking down the path of zombification and hunger for human flesh while struggling to maintain their humanity and moralities.
Within the bodies of both the living and the dead were small crystal beads. The crystal beads became the new currency as their properties lie with the growth of the surviving human's powers.
For some, it was easier to farm crystal beads from the living, as their mortality rate was lower than zombified undead. A shot to the head and the humans are dead, whereas a zombie with consciousness could survive even a bomb.
