Kaela sank deeper into the steaming bath, the water lapping against her shoulders as she let out a quiet breath.
The heat melted the last of the cold from her bones, leaving her limbs heavy and her mind hazy.
Arkanos leaned back against the stone edge, his broad chest glistening with droplets, the flickering lantern light casting shadows over the hard lines of his muscles.
His emerald eyes glinted with that infuriatingly smug amusement she'd come to know too well.
"Comfortable yet, princess?" he asked, his voice a low drawl, dripping with mockery.
She opened both eyes now, fixing him with a look that could've curdled milk. "Don't call me that. And yes, I am, no thanks to you."
"No thanks to me?" Arkanos raised a brow, leaning forward slightly, the water rippling around him. "Who conjured this manor out of thin air? Who carried you in here like some fragile damsel? You wound me, Kaela."
