Chapter 49 - Davy Back Pt. 2

The Foxy Pirates stood nervously for the second time, unsure what the Straw Hat captain would ask for this time.

"Hey Luffy, come here a sec," Lucas called him to the side. They whispered for a while, building suspense.

"What could they be talking about?" Usopp and Nami wondered.

"Okay, I've decided," Luffy said as they came back. He looked at Lucas and gave him a thumbs up with a smile, giving the 'I got this' look. This only made the other Straw Hats more worried.

"Hey, wait, maybe we should think about this first," Nami suggested, but her words went through Luffy's rubbery ears.

"I want your treasure—all of it," Luffy said, leaving the Foxy Pirates with deadlike expressions. The Straw Hats were just as shocked—well, some of them. Nami was filled with joy hearing these words. She immediately gave Lucas a thumbs up, giving him the 'Good job!' look, and he responded with an 'I know, thanks' expression. The others looked at them like 'Seriously?' but what's done was done, and with frowns on their faces, the Foxy Pirates had to oblige.

"Don't worry, I'll handle it," Lucas said. He snapped his fingers, and a heap of money and treasure materialized next to him—it was all the Foxy Pirates' treasure.

"You didn't even give us a chance," they cried.

"Psshh, as if. If you gave it to us, you'd keep some for yourselves. This is ours now," Lucas and Nami spoke simultaneously. The Foxy Pirates fell to their knees, crying as they came to terms with this.

"Maybe next time you'll leave us alone," Nami added as she packed up the gold and money into a big sack.

"Just how shameless are those two?" Usopp said, watching them already claiming the treasure as theirs.

"I'll get you for this, Straw Hats," Foxy said, as the others in his crew hurled slurs at Nami and Lucas for taking their money.

"Hey! We're not the ones who started a fight we wouldn't win, now are we?" Nami retorted, giving them a menacing gaze that hushed them.

"Ahem, and now for our final match," the announcer said, trying to lift morale. "But first, let us pick out the battlefield," he added, as they brought out a cannon.

"Using the Field-Chooser cannon, we'll determine where the match will be! Now both players, please spin the cannon," the announcer instructed. Luffy and Foxy stepped up and spun the cannon.

"Yeah! Win this, captain, and get our treasure back," the Foxy Pirates cried. After a while of spinning, they let go of the cannon and let it come to a stop, although it stopped in an odd manner, pointing at the Foxy Pirates' ship.

Usopp, of course, complained because it was obvious this wasn't a fair pick, but Zoro just told him to keep quiet. The cannon fired, and the Foxy Pirates exclaimed at the results.

"Whaaaat! It seems the cannon has unexpectedly landed on a purple floating boxing ring that appeared out of nowhere," the announcer muttered.

"What? They clearly cheated. That's where our ship was!" the Foxy Pirates yelled.

"Just shut up and get it over with already," Lucas said, his hand glowing purple. It was clear he had something to do with this. "The cannon chooser chose, didn't it?" he said. No matter what, they couldn't refuse and had to accept it.

"Yeah, nice one," Usopp remarked.

"Seriously, can't you not cheat for once?" Nami scolded.

With both sides preparing, Luffy and Usopp came out and went to the ring. It was a round ring with a fifty-meter radius, big and spacious. It resembled an octagon, with a meshed barrier going up to the sky like a UFC ring.

"That... That looks HELLA COOL!" Sanji remarked, seeing Afro Luffy stepping to the stage. Foxy came out as well, and they both entered the ring. As both sides stepped into the ring, a referee popped up from the floor of the ring, and commentators appeared to the side, starting to commentate as if this was a UFC tournament.

This shocked everyone, and the Straw Hats looked at Lucas, who held a proud smile. "A spell I made for events like this," he said proudly. The others looked at him like, 'Ri-iight. You do you, man.'

"Hey, that's my job," the announcer said as he rode his bird in the sky. The referee, who was normal now, was kept out of the ring. He was saddened that his job was taken, but Nami and Usopp were relieved that there'd be no cheating now.

The match started as the bell rang. Even though he lost his home advantage, Foxy stood his ground, using his powers from the start. He froze Luffy's head as he tried to dodge the slow-slow beam, causing his body to stretch awkwardly while his head remained in the same place.

"Haha. You think changing the field will help? Think again," Foxy muttered, throwing a flurry of punches at Luffy's body. His gloves were spiky and hard, making his fists stronger. The fight was intense as Foxy kept using his powers to prevent Luffy from attacking him, but Luffy hung in there, not giving up. He started to get the hang of Foxy's fighting style as the tables slowly turned.

"Gum Gum! Gatling!" Luffy shouted, throwing a flurry of punches faster than before, catching Foxy off guard and landing hits on his face. But the battle wasn't over. The fight raged on, and after twenty minutes had passed, Luffy stood victorious, raising his hand high.

"Yeah!!" he shouted in victory. The Foxy Pirates' faces sagged as they lost the last match. The looming feeling of losing another precious thing to them sunk in. This was the third loss they'd taken today, probably a lesson not to mess with the Straw Hats.

After all that, it was time again for the Straw Hat captain to state what he wanted. This time, three people who might meet the requirements of the Straw Hats were brought forth: Sonieh, the leader of the mechanics team of the Foxy Pirates; Donoban, also a mechanic; and Gina-chan, a carpenter. Luffy stood there, pondering his decision. Sanji chanted "Gina-chan" endlessly, hoping Luffy would make that choice.

"I choose..." Luffy said, and the Foxy Pirates took a big gulp. "Your flag," he declared, leaving everyone shocked yet again.

"Really? That's it? You won't get another shot at this, you know. And besides, Gina-chan is clearly the best option," Sanji protested. Some of the other Straw Hats sighed in relief; they didn't want any of those weird Foxy guys joining them. But Luffy stuck to his decision and requested their flag. He even took it upon himself to replace it with his own personal new one, ensuring they would never raise their old one again. How nice of him, although the new flag left much to be desired, as Lucas laughed at the ugly design Luffy made.
