Haisley watched as Sophia stormed out of the dining area, her heart aching as she disappeared from sight. A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she turned to look at Henry, who was still seated at the table, his expression hard and unreadable.
"Henry..." she called softly, trying to ease the tension.
But before she could say anything else, Henry stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. Without another word, he walked away, leaving her sitting alone at the table.
Haisley lowered her head, pressing her fingers to her temples, rubbing slowly. The dull ache in her head intensified.
She knew Henry was right. He was only trying to protect Aneira's feelings. But at the same time, Sophia was also their daughter. She had raised Sophia, loved her, and cared for her. No matter what happened, she couldn't just ignore her pain.
She let out another deep sigh.
This was becoming too much for her to handle.
