Eric took us on a hike, past the old dorms that we had stayed in the first time around, and so far back into the base that it was like we were in a different world.
I really didn't have any expectations of what the New Dawn Sanctuary looked like. Since it was surrounded by walls so tall that it was impossible to see over, I had just assumed that the dorms were as far as the Sanctuary went, and that the tower was at the heart of everything.
Turned out, I was wrong about that, too.
What I had been exposed to before was nothing more than what they were willing to show the general public.
We entered the first checkpoint, and I let out a huff of irritation. Like it wasn't bad enough that he had woken me up out of dead sleep and made me walk all this way, now his little friends were making us stand here like idiots while Eric got out paperwork sorted out.
