Chapter 329 - Naivety

"Please follow me, nyaa!"

"Yes, thank you."

Staring at the cute bipedal cats curiously, Michael looked at the surrounding area with a tense expression since while many were hidden, he could feel the existence of strong creatures hidden within the area of this fortress.

Yes, a fortress.

This was how Michael described the place where Masa was living. Despite his place being akin to an undeveloped suburban area, it hid many dangerous creatures, traps, magics, and many others.

Still, even so, while it was amazing, it was far from heaven, which was simply another space within this world.

Yet, what made him quite tense was the number of those dangerous creatures that were hidden, who looked at him menacingly, except for those cute bipedal cats who led him, but then again, even if they appeared cute, he knew well that those cats were dangerous.

Coming alone to Masa's place, Michael thought that he would be rejected, but unexpectedly, Masa agreed to meet him. The fight that had happened before should have taken a lot of Masa's stamina, so for him to agree, it meant that he felt nothing from his previous battle.

Or was the previous enemy too weak?

Or was Masa too strong?

'It should be the latter,' Michael thought. As the Seraph, and the angel who was in charge of managing everything after God had passed away, he was known as the strongest among the angels, but even so, the aura that Masa exuded before made him tremble. It was said that Masa had defeated Sirzech, and now... he understands the reason.

Yes, Michael was strong, but even so, if it was a one-on-one fight, he didn't think he would win against Sirzech, and Sirzech wouldn't lose to Michael unless Michael also brought his Seraphs' friends. At the same time, as a devil, it was natural for Sirzech to be weak against the holy light of the angel, so if he had a fight against Sirzech, it wouldn't be easy for Sirzech to win.

Yet, against Masa, all of those thoughts disappeared.

Still, he knew well that his decision to come to meet Masa was reckless, and it was even stupid, especially when an angel and a devil had always been enemies. Coming to Masa directly was akin to a provocation, especially after Masa had just finished his battle, yet he came.

A meeting of the three factions would be held, and whatever the majority of angels, devils, or fallen angels thought was, whether they hated and wanted to kill each other, or many other negative thoughts within their minds existed, the best way for the three factions to be able to stay alive, especially after the death of the god was known, was to be in peace.

Or rather, Michael knew that peace was necessary, especially for the angels, whose numbers could no longer be increased as God wasn't there to help them, nor could they reproduce like the devil and fallen angels since as long as they had sex, they would become fallen.

It was impossible for Michael to allow the angels whose numbers were so low to be decreased even further. If there was something fortunate, it was the fact that they had the church and many human followers who still believed in their religion. Yet, even so, he also wasn't naive enough to believe that all humans could faithfully maintain their beliefs since instead of their beliefs, he knew well that they just wanted to maintain their status and interest.

The church was a huge organization, and it had many believers.

In such an organization, it was normal for a hierarchy to exist and for the people at the top to be in charge. Even if the god didn't exist, it would have been impossible for this organization to disappear since many chain reactions that came from having this organization disappear would have been horrible.

Yet, while Michael cared about the church and the believers, he cared about the angels more, and with his limited power, how could he put his focus on something else?

So, this peace was necessary, and because of that, he knew that he had to meet Masa first to understand what kind of a devil Masa was.

This time, Michael came alone, leaving his comrades and bodyguards, coming to Masa's place. Yet, at the same time, he thought that Masa was so naive, wondering how Masa could give permission for him to meet him just like this.

'If I have an antagonist thought.'

Or was this the confidence of the strong?

Or simply the arrogance of thinking that an angel wasn't his opponent?

Michael didn't know, but he knew that except for knowing what had happened previously, he also needed to know Masa's view toward the angel, wondering whether Masa was a fierce devil, who only wanted to bring a ruin to this world, or was he a tolerant devil that could be trusted like Sirzech?

'Sirzech...'

Michael sighed at Sirzech, wondering why that devil had to lose to Masa. If the one that he met was Sirzech, then he had no need to worry since he had known Sirzech for a while, and despite Sirzech's young age, Sirzech also wished for peace as peace was the best course for the current situation of the devil.

Still, as he was thinking about what to do when he met Masa, he suddenly realized that he had entered a darkness, and a prickly pain was felt in his body.

"What are you doing?!"

Michael was enraged as he was attacked so suddenly!

He came with the intention of peace, yet why was he being attacked suddenly?!

"Do you think you are Masa-sama's friends, nyaa? You think you can just come and meet him just because you want to meet him, nyaa? Look in the mirror first, nyaa! Who do you think you are, nyaa?!"

Did Michael think that he could just randomly walk to Masa's place to meet him?

If so, then where was Masa's face?

So, what if you were the number one angel in this universe?

Masa had killed Azazel, so why should he worry about killing Michael?

What if he was known?

So what?

The terrorist organization existed for this reason, and Masa could use them to become a scapegoat!

As for peace between the three factions?

From the beginning to the end, Masa had never believed in it, especially when no one could agree on who would become the real leader for this three factions coalition.

Or rather, no one could become the leader as all of them were enemies.

So, instead of a fragile peace that would disappear as the external enemy disappeared, Masa thought to conquer all of them directly.

Cruel?

Yes, but for the peace and stability of himself and the one he loved, this was necessary.

All of a sudden, all of the supernatural feline creatures that had been hiding came out one after another.

Whether it was manticores, chimeras, sphinx, or even the clones of the Nemean Lion, they came out one after another and growled as they gazed dangerously at Michael. The shape of those supernatural creatures was creepy, and they had this strange grin as they drooled, wishing to put their fangs into the soft body of an angel.

Yet, Michael wasn't a weak angel, and even if he was surrounded, alone, he wouldn't fall.

Shining brightly, he tried to erase all of them with the power of light, yet the darkness was too dense. It was impossible to penetrate before all the light fully disappeared.

Still, when Michael was in his deepest despair, he thought that it was impossible to escape and that death was his only destination—

"You are the naive one."

When Michael saw Masa for the first time, a blitz of electricity controlled his mind.
