Chapter 173 - Chapter 173: The Might of Weather Ball

"Charmeleon, use Flamethrower 2!"

Kalia noticed Hassa's command and realized they couldn't allow Blissey to utilize Minimize too frequently, as it would significantly hinder Charmeleon's ability to land hits.

Minimize not only reduced its size but also decreased its weight, making Blissey more agile and adept at evading various attacks.

Flamethrower 2 was Kalia's term for the combination of Flamethrower and Weather Ball moves. This combo had never been used competitively before; she occasionally employed it during training sessions, so few knew about Charmeleon's unique move set.

Against Blissey, the combined power of Flamethrower and Dragon Rage was no longer sufficient. A stronger move combination was needed, and the Flamethrower-Weather Ball duo undoubtedly provided that increased potency.

Especially under Sunny Day conditions, Weather Ball's strength surpassed even that of Flamethrower.

Upon hearing Kalia's command, Lian was somewhat speechless. "What is this 'Flamethrower 2' nonsense?" Anyone listening would immediately question the order. He wanted to sarcastically comment on it, but Kalia ignored his disapproving gaze.

Lian's expression turned serious; it was now time for his most powerful move combination ever attempted. At the very least, he aimed to inflict significant damage on Blissey, preventing further use of Minimize, ideally causing Hassa to panic and continuously restore Blissey's stamina.

"What is Flamethrower 2?" Hassa felt puzzled yet intrigued. However, at that moment, Blissey successfully used the Minimize move. As long as Blissey could repeat Minimize multiple times before Charmeleon's Safeguard expired, it would be ready to counterattack.

After casting Minimize, Blissey's body became enveloped by a mysterious force, akin to being forcefully compressed. Gradually, its size began to change, shrinking from over one meter tall to less than a meter high.

With this reduction, Blissey appeared even cuter and more agile. Flapping its small wings, it seemed almost capable of taking flight.

Of course, Blissey's tiny pink hands with white wings were insufficient for actual flight due to their diminutive size. When Blissey shrank, its wings naturally became smaller as well.

Observing Blissey's current size, Lian noted that the first Minimize didn't significantly impact its effectiveness, as the reduction in body mass was minimal, making it still relatively easy to hit.

In the next moment, Lian skillfully unleashed Flamethrower. Despite becoming smaller and more erratic with its movements, Blissey's actual speed remained slow, just more agile.

The scorching flames raced towards Blissey. Having used Minimize only once, she couldn't evade Lian's Flamethrower.

A truly agile Blissey, capable of effortlessly dodging attacks, would be nearly invincible. Consequently, Minimize is one of Blissey's strongest moves.

When combined with Soft-Boiled after multiple uses of Minimize, even if an opponent manages to land a hard-won hit, Blissey can quickly recover to full health using Soft-Boiled.

An opponent might struggle endlessly, occasionally landing a single hit, while Blissey, virtually unbeatable due to its resilience, has countless opportunities to counterattack. This dynamic showcases the terrifying aspect of battling against a Blissey.

However, Blissey does have its nemesis: the Taunt move. Additionally, due to its weak defense, when facing Pokemon proficient in aggressive attack moves, Blissey essentially becomes a sitting duck.

In typical battles, Hassa's strategy involved targeting and defeating the opponent's attacking Pokemon first, ensuring safety for Blissey to enter the field. Then, utilizing various status moves, he would establish an advantage before ultimately bringing out Feraligatr or another Pokemon to finish off the opponents.

A blazing Flamethrower struck Blissey; if it were any other Pokemon, this attack would have caused significant damage. However, Blissey appeared remarkably unfazed while resisting the Flamethrower assault.

Lian estimated that the Flamethrower inflicted barely more than one-third of Blissey's Stamina Points, not even reaching 1000 points.

Based on his calculations, Blissey must possess at least 2500 Physical Ability Points, although this was merely speculation. Nonetheless, it likely fell around the 2500 mark.

After unleashing Flamethrower, Lian didn't pause and promptly cast Weather Ball. He observed as a rapidly forming white gas sphere condensed in mid-air.

This combination of moves had been extensively practiced by Lian numerous times, both during regular training sessions and within the system space.

As soon as the Weather Ball was released, it rapidly absorbed the surrounding intense fire energy and transformed within a blink of an eye into a massive fiery red sphere.

"That's... Weather Ball!"

"I can't believe they had this move hidden!"

The observing trainees were stunned by Lian unleashing Weather Ball.

It is well-known that after using a move of the same attribute, a Pokemon requires recovery time before being able to use it again.

Especially moves like Flamethrower, which consume significant energy. That's why Charmeleon employed combo techniques, allowing for quick succession of two different moves.

However, now Charmeleon first used Flamethrower followed by Weather Ball. Cleverly utilizing Weather Ball's unique properties, it instantly shifted from a Normal Type move to a Fire Type one, significantly amplifying its power.

This move combination is tailor-made for Fire-type Pokemon under Sunny Day weather conditions, making the consecutive burst of these two moves incredibly potent.

If not facing Blissey, most other Pokemon would have no choice but to dodge; direct confrontation would be nearly impossible, unless specifically resistant to Fire-type attacks.

The fiery red gas sphere, filled with Fire-type energy, rapidly expanded and then plummeted towards Blissey.

"Blissey, dodge!"

At this moment, Hassa's expression turned serious, caught off guard by Kalia's strategic move. Doubt crept in as he questioned whether Blissey could withstand such a powerful combo.

The Weather Ball swiftly descended on Blissey, which had just endured Flamethrower without significant damage. Now, it focused intently on the descending fiery red sphere, attempting to evade.

However, Lian couldn't allow Blissey to escape; if it did, it would likely use Minimize again. He couldn't risk that happening, as ensuring the next Weather Ball's accuracy would become challenging.

Although the Weather Ball was currently Fire-typed, its base nature is still a Normal-type move. Lian lacked full control over Weather Ball since it wasn't formed from his own fire energy but rather utilized the unique effects of the move itself.

Boom!

With a deafening explosion, the fire-infused Weather Ball unleashed its full power, ultimately striking Blissey's body. Although just a touch, Weather Ball inflicts damage through energy explosion rather than impact.

The concentrated Fire-type energy within the ball instantly detonated, causing the entire battlefield to heat up significantly. Positioned at the epicenter of the blast, Blissey had no chance to evade and absorbed the full force of the explosion.

"Wow, that's intense!"

"Is Weather Ball under clear skies this terrifying?"

Several trainees felt the scorching heatwave, but fortunately, their distance from the battlefield prevented any significant harm.

Unlike Flamethrower, which concentrates its power, Weather Ball causes an explosive effect. Even touching the ground could trigger the explosion, potentially harming nearby Pokemon.

Lian, feeling the powerful shockwaves generated by Weather Ball, looked with satisfaction at the now weakened Blissey.

Although not incapacitated, Blissey was clearly in rough shape after enduring two consecutive high-power Fire-type moves. Despite its high Special Defense ability, it bore numerous injuries, and the usual cheerful expression on its face had noticeably faded.

Now it was up to Hassa's decision - whether to continue using Minimize, switch Pokemon, or employ Soft-Boiled to restore Blissey's stamina and heal its injuries.
