Reed walked to the left corner of the room and pressed his hand to the wall. A moment later, the tile in that corner slid open, revealing a pit underneath it.
"Here, drop all of the weapons and armor you currently have in here."
"All of them?"
"To empty your space."
She did as he said, then turned to him.
"What happens to all of it?" She asked.
"Nothing for now, I didn't have enough energy to finish that part." Reed shrugged as he said that in a 'What can you do.' sort of way. "And before that, I was busy with my experiments."
"So why did you make all this? I can hardly think that this way easy to make." Lyn gestured to the room, and Reed understood what she was referring to.
"All the moving parts? To answer that question, I will ask you a question, was it cool or not?"
Lyn blinked, whatever she had been expecting, it was not this.
"Cool?" She asked, unsure if she had heard it correctly or not. 'Surely not right, that doesn't fit his character.' She thought to herself. 'He's all logic and reason, he wouldn't waste useful energy on childish things like this.'
"That's where you are wrong." Reed said before Lyn said anything else.
"Hm?" She let out a questioning noise.
"I do not run completely on logic like a machine, I am actually the most playful and emotional person in my family."
Reed said that in a completely calm tone.
'I don't believe that.' Her expression of disbelief was evident.
Reed chuckled.
"I had to keep you from my actual character for safety, but now I have an almost complete grasp on your thinking process and personality, so it is now much, much safer."
He took a breath and continued.
"You will be taken aback by how much my behavior will change, so please know that it is not an act." He then gestured to the weapons around them. "So shall we begin?"
Lyn blinked, unsure what to make of this new development, just nodded.
"Okay..." She spoke in a soft and subdued tone of voice.
With a smile on his face, Reed picked up the weapon closest to them.
Then a thought suddenly struck him, and he waved his hand.
The next moment, all of the items in the room left their position and floated over to him then disappeared as he put them away.
"Follow me."
Lyn followed him as he led them back to the area where they descended the stairs, and went into the door directly across the one they just exited.
This room was long, it looked to be at least forty meters long sideways and ten meters wide.
"The test room," Reed announced. "It seems like my mental exhaustion affected my thinking ability as well, otherwise I would have built that room here." He muttered, then brought out one of the weapons.
"I have not come up with names for most of these, so feel free to name them as you wish later, but for now, this is the FS Mark 2."
The weapon in his hands was a meter long, but most of its mass, about 60%, was concentrated in the middle part, just before the grip and barrel, and directly above the trigger.
"It has two modes, spray and spear, and it fires flames."
He pointed to a switch on the side.
"This is how you change its modes, just flip this switch and you're set."
He flipped the switch a few times back and forth. "It does take a little bit of force, so it won't just accidentally switch."
Then he pointed it towards the far wall.
"The spear mode is too powerful to use inside, but the spray will be just fine." As he spoke, a wave of flame erupted from the barrel, flying through the air until it hit the wall it was aimed at.
He maintained the flame for two seconds before letting go of the trigger.
"I haven't tested its range yet, but it should be at least seventy meters, so have a good range to roast your enemies with, and the spear mode's range should be at least thrice that, we can test later."
He pointed to a slit in the top part of the weapon, there was a red glow emitting from it.
"This is the fuel gauge, it shows how much fuel you have left in this fuel cell." The glow occupied four-fifths of the slit. "One cell holds enough to throw flames for ten seconds, or one spear, that should give you an estimate of how powerful that mode is."
"When you want to change your cell," He grabbed the grip again. "Push the grip forward, while pulling the trigger guard back at the same time, like this."
He demonstrated the motion to Lyn, who watched as both the grips moved in the directions they were being pushed as a small part of the weapon opened, and a cylindrical object the size of an adult man's fist was shot out from the side.
He held it out to her, and she took it, marveling at the weapon's power.
"This as well." She looked up to see Reed holding out another FS Mark 2, completely identical to the one she was holding in her hands.
"Sometimes, one gun isn't enough, and you have only two hands, if you had more, I would have given you as many."
She understood what he meant, and imagined her with six arms, each of them holding one of these, setting flame to a horde of small green humanoid creatures.
She took it, still immersed in fantasy.
She was broken out of it as Reed snapped his fingers in front of her face.
"You can daydream all you want after I hand you all your equipment."
She nodded, and Reed brought out another weapon.
Lyn blinked.
"Isn't that just another FS Mark 2?"
"Not it's not." Reed grinned as he aimed at the wall.
A bluish-white ray shot out of the barrel and struck the wall, and Lyn looked at the ice that had appeared as a result of that ray.
"This is WB Mark 2." Reed annouced.
