The first ray of morning sunlight gently brushed across every fatigued yet peaceful face as it streamed through the small window of the shelter. It seemed as if the overnight storm had ceased, leaving only the occasional sound of dripping water droplets outside the window.
Inside the shelter, the air was permeated with a sense of relief and anticipation.
Villagers gradually woke up, some rubbing their sleepy eyes, while others had already begun tidying up their makeshift beds from the night before. The children always seemed to be the first to regain their energy, playing quietly, their occasional laughter like a lively spring that instantly filled the entire space with vitality.
Government workers and volunteers were already busy at work, preparing steaming hot breakfasts—simple porridge and buns, along with a few small side dishes. They weren't lavish, but they were enough to warm the heart.
