After the Yamai sisters walked into the burger shop, a suspicious car followed them from the corner of the intersection.
The car stopped not far away, on the opposite side of the street, and the man in the driver's seat was watching the two Wind Spirits who were ordering inside the shop through the darkened windows.
His name was Hayakawa Aki.
Like Denji and Power, he was also an official Devil hunter.
And, like them, he was also under the command of Makima, working as a Devil hunter in the Public Security Fourth Division.
"Makima-sama, should we stop them?"
Hayakawa Aki asked the person sitting beside him as he watched the Yamai sisters gesturing excitedly at the counter, seemingly having difficulty ordering their food.
"Devils don't behave according to normal logic. They've already made contact with humans. If they suddenly start killing, it might be too late to intervene."
Sensing the concern in Hayakawa Aki's voice, Makima, who was sitting in the backseat, simply rested her chin on her hand without saying a word.
Her spiral-shaped pupils reflected the images of the two girls inside the burger shop, as if trying to discern some hint from their behavior.
"Don't worry, Aki-kun."
After a moment of observation, her cool voice rang out. "Although their actions have caused much destruction and loss over the past half month, they have not once shown hostility or murderous intent toward humanity. Let them continue with what they're doing. Our interference might cause more harm than good."
In fact, soon after the Yamai sisters arrived in Tokyo, the Public Security had already turned their attention toward them.
Since the governments of various countries still couldn't come up with a solid response, they had temporarily resorted to satellite tracking to monitor the movements of the Yamai sisters. This way, they could not only keep track of their location but also evacuate the public in advance to prevent possible natural disasters.
And the Yamai sisters didn't seem to have any intention of hiding their whereabouts. They never attempted to escape being tracked.
In fact, they couldn't escape it.
There were no neighboring realms in this world where they could vanish and reappear at will.
Moreover, every few days, the Yamai sisters would create a huge commotion, and by monitoring the storm eyes via meteorological satellites, their location could easily be pinpointed.
Therefore, before they even entered Japan's territory, the Japanese government had already prepared the necessary measures.
If they hadn't arrived without a violent storm this time, Tokyo would have already sounded the alarm, and the citizens would have been evacuated.
But just because they arrived peacefully didn't mean peace would last forever.
If one of them suddenly had a change of heart and decided to fight again in a densely populated area like Tokyo, the financial losses wouldn't matter, but the government would be more worried about casualties.
This was why the Public Security Fourth Division, responsible for Tokyo's Devil-related disasters, had dispatched personnel to this location.
Even Makima herself had put down her work and accompanied her subordinates to observe the two troublesome Wind Spirits.
She wanted to see what these two were planning this time.
For Makima, it was also a good opportunity to observe them up close and learn more about them.
With this thought, she was no longer satisfied with just observing from across the street.
Opening the car door, Makima walked straight toward the burger shop where the Yamai sisters were.
Seeing this, Hayakawa Aki quickly pulled out the car key, grabbed what looked like a sword bag, and followed behind.
Although Makima hadn't asked him to follow, as a responsible subordinate, it was his duty to protect his superior.
Among Japan's Devil hunters, the Devil Hayakawa Aki had contracted with was considered quite powerful.
If something went wrong, even if they couldn't defeat the two Wind Spirits, at least he could hold them off until reinforcements arrived, right?
No matter what, it was better than letting Makima face the two natural disaster-level Devils alone.
Upon entering the burger shop, the service staff placed the giant "Big Explosion Burger" in front of the Yamai sisters for the "Big Eater Challenge."
Inside the shop, the audience was discussing.
Some of them were talking about the odd outfits the Yamai sisters were wearing, with strange expressions on their faces.
However, this was Tokyo, and strange outfits were nothing new. Even though they wore high-exposure divine armor, the outfit only drew curious glances and didn't cause any commotion.
More of the onlookers were discussing the challenge itself.
"These two little girls with skinny arms and legs dare to take on the Big Eater Challenge?"
"They won't fit it in. There's no way they'll manage!"
"Last time, a guy with glasses came to try it, and he ended up eating himself dizzy."
The surrounding discussions were filled with doubt.
However, the Yamai sisters didn't show any displeasure at the comments from the onlookers.
"It seems this challenge really is a tough one," Kaguya Yamai said proudly as she picked up the oversized burger, which was bigger than her head. "As the true Wind Spirit Yamai, I will show these people how terrifying my power is. If you're afraid, you can bow out."
"Mocking, if Kaguya Yamai eats herself dizzy, I won't be lending a hand," Yuzuru Yamai said, with a hint of teasing.
The two Wind Spirits exchanged a glance.
Then, they opened their mouths and took a bite of the massive burger.
Makima and Hayakawa Aki, of course, were blending in with the crowd, quietly observing.
"Indeed, they came to Tokyo this time for the so-called 'duel,' huh?" Makima thought thoughtfully.
During the time the two Wind Spirits had been appearing, they had not been constantly causing destruction. Sometimes, like now, they would blend into human society to engage in some sort of competition.
As they did it more often, more information had become available for analysis.
By questioning those who had direct contact with the Yamai sisters, humans had gradually pieced together the reason behind their wild antics.
They were fighting to claim the name of Wind Spirit Yamai.
Whether it was through combat or strange challenges, or even a competition to see who had a bigger appetite like now, everything they did was part of a rivalry between the two Wind Spirits to decide who was the more powerful one.
It was as if they had no interest in anything else.
Their only focus was to decide the winner.
Even now, as they faced the doubts of the humans around them, they didn't get angry and start killing the onlookers.
To many Devils, humans were inferior beings.
Apart from being prey and playthings, they had no other value.
Although these two Devils had indeed caused great panic and financial loss, they had never killed anyone. In fact, they had even peacefully interacted with humans several times.
Watching the Yamai sisters devouring the burger, their mouths full of sauce and oil, Makima showed the first sign of interest she had in a Devil.
Such an interesting Devil, even she had never seen one before.
