Chapter 263 - Chapter 263: The Ghost Couple

The little ghost shivered inexplicably, fear appearing in its dark, hollow eyes as it struggled with both hands and feet.

But the ghost-whipping whip was specifically designed to subdue ghosts; there was no way it could break free.

  "Daddy, Mommy——"

In panic, the little ghost threw the white candle away and opened its mouth wide, letting out a hoarse scream.

  The next moment.

Two adult ghosts, a man and a woman, seemingly a couple, crawled out from inside the candle.

The couple was emitting thick black smoke, with hot wax continuously dripping down, creating small black holes on the floor.

  "He is still a child..."

The couple let out angry roars, their faces, which looked as if they had been corroded by sulfuric acid, fiercely lunged at Lu Fei.

"They say that behind every spoiled child, there is a pair of spoiled parents. I didn't expect it to be the same for ghosts!"

Hot air rushed toward him. Lu Fei slightly raised his eyebrows, calmly used the ghost-whipping whip to pull the little ghost back a few steps, and then threw a pair of ghost-restraining characters at the ghost couple.

As the ghost-restraining characters fell, their bodies instantly began to melt rapidly, like candles exposed to high heat.

But after a moment, their bodies re-solidified, and they continued to crawl toward Lu Fei like a flowing monster.

  "Hmm, they can't be killed?"

Lu Fei was slightly surprised, but upon seeing the candles on the ground, he quickly realized what was going on.

"The candles are the true form!"

"That old woman died from burning paper, and her resentment concentrated in the brazier, so the brazier is its true form."

"And this family, they died because the child played with fire, but how could they blame their own child? Their resentment must have concentrated on the candles."

Realizing this, Lu Fei threw out two ghost-restraining characters to slow down the ghost couple.

Then, he dragged the little ghost towards the candles on the ground.

The little ghost's expression clearly became panicked, opening its pitch-black mouth and continuously emitting hoarse roars, trying to interfere with Lu Fei.

  "You're too noisy!"

Lu Fei directly threw a ghost-restraining character into its mouth.

The little ghost was immediately choked, its two charred little hands clutching its neck, and its tongue painfully sticking out.

With his ears regaining their tranquility, Lu Fei took out the thunderstruck jujube wood stick with his left hand, infused it with magical power, and struck the candle on the ground lightly.

  Boom!

A blue arc of electricity flashed through the white mist.

The candle immediately ignited with a dim yellow flame, burning rapidly.

  "Ah——"

The little ghost and its parents writhed in agony, their charred bodies melting quickly like candles under high heat.

After a few seconds, only a pool of solidified wax remained on the ground.

Lu Fei tested with the ghost-lashing whip to make sure this family was thoroughly dead before putting away the thunderstruck jujube wood stick.

"I wonder how the others are doing?"

  He looked around.

"This fog must be created by some otherworldly creature; it definitely won't dissipate anytime soon. Let's go find Jing Jian first."

After that, he stepped into the white fog.

The thick white fog swallowed both sight and sound.

Wen Mi Dong Shenpo walked through the fog with trepidation, her hand tightly gripping a handful of mixed grains. She wandered around for a long while without encountering a single person.

"Might as well find a safe place to hide for now..."

She cautiously felt her way forward and noticed a room faintly appearing in front of her. The room seemed to contain a table and a bed.

"Aren't I in the first-floor lobby? How could there be a bed in the lobby?"

Dong Shenpo's eyebrows twitched, sensing something amiss. She quickly retreated.

It was only when the room was completely engulfed by the white fog and out of sight that she slightly relaxed. However, as she turned around, she suddenly found herself standing right in the middle of the room!

That eerie bed was right behind her.

There was something wriggling on the bed.

Dong Shenpo's hair stood on end. She scattered a handful of mixed grains onto the bed and, without even seeing what it was clearly, darted towards the guiding talisman.

A scorching breath was spewing from behind her.

  That thing was chasing her!

Dong Shenpo used all her strength, practically rolling and crawling, and in one go, she rushed out the door.

  The scorching heat dissipated.

She found herself standing outside on an empty street. Her legs instantly gave way, and she fell to the ground, drenched in cold sweat on her back.

Only then did she dare to look back, but strangely, she found that the hall was pitch black, and she couldn't see anything.

She suddenly felt a chill of fear.

A place as ominous as the Ruby Tower was truly not a place for an ordinary spiritual medium like her to stay.

However, she originally came with a mindset of giving it a try, and to have survived was already more than enough for her.

After resting for a moment, she gradually saw quite a few people escaping.

Each of them was pale, carrying expressions of panic.

"I saw a colossal creature, oh my God, it was so frightening, it could swallow me in one bite!"

"What colossal creature? I saw a monster with two heads."

"Luckily, we had the Qiankun Guidance Talisman, otherwise we definitely wouldn't have been able to get out..."

The Priestess Dong roughly counted, and more than a dozen people had run out, while there were still about ten others left inside.

"It's not yet midnight, the most ferocious hour hasn't arrived, I wonder who will be able to hold on till the end."

Everyone, still shaken, gazed into the building.

But their sight was met with an empty hall on the first floor.

The people in the hall couldn't see them either.

Jing Jian wandered around in the thick fog and encountered a burn victim ghost, which he managed to deal with relatively smoothly.

"This fog is too troublesome; we need to figure out a way to solve it! The previous smoke was created by an old burn victim ghost, so this fog might also be caused by some ghost. Let's look around."

As Jing Jian walked on, he suddenly noticed a room faintly appearing ahead.

The room had a bed and a table.

"Huh? Where did this house come from?"

Jing Jian looked at it suspiciously and then stepped forward.

"The house wasn't engulfed by the fog. Could it be the source?"

As he got closer, the details of the room became clearer, and it turned out to be a hotel room.

The hotel was empty, and all the furnishings were particularly old.

Jing Jian held the Seven Star Magic Sword, carefully moving around the room in search of the source of the white mist.

"Deadbeat, what took you so long?"

Suddenly, an abrupt voice sounded from behind him.

  "Who's there?"

Jing Jian immediately went on high alert; as he turned around, he swung his sword.

A few strands of hair turned to ash in the dim light.

Jing Jian saw that where the bed had been empty a moment ago, there was now someone there.

  A woman.

The blankets half-covered her well-defined body. She held a cigarette between her fingers, took a deep drag, and exhaled a puff of white smoke in Jing Jian's direction.

"What are you standing there for? Come here!"

Jing Jian was taken aback, his expression dazed as he walked to the side of the bed.

The woman laughed triumphantly, her tongue licking the corner of her mouth, her entire face opening up like a carnivorous flower, viciously biting towards Jing Jian.

  "Such a petty trick!"

However, at this moment, Jing Jian's eyes suddenly became clear.

The Seven Star Magic Sword in his hand, with a soft thud, was thrust into the woman's open mouth.

The woman let out a shrill scream, her snow-white body turning black instantly, revealing her true form burnt to death.

Her body writhed strangely, and an ugly man's head emerged from her shoulder, viciously biting at Jing Jian's hand.
