Chapter 339 - Chapter 340: So What If I'm Just an Ordinary Person?

"Nebula, if you have something to say to Quill, just say it directly. Don't make him guess. With his level of comprehension, he won't get it," Alan reminded her.

Quill was straightforward and not the type to overthink things. Considering the chaos they had just gone through, he probably hadn't even heard what she said.

"Haaah…" Nebula took a deep breath. "Can't you feel it? The Celestial power you awakened—it's gone."

"Ego said it himself. Once he dies, his Celestial power dies with him."

Quill suddenly laughed.

Rocket Raccoon adjusted his clothes, sat cross-legged in front of him, and sighed. He was a little disappointed that he hadn't managed to scavenge anything useful from Ego's planet before it was destroyed.

Whenever he visited a place, Rocket had a habit of grabbing something valuable. Otherwise, he just felt… uncomfortable. Like those Sovereign batteries—those were really useful.

"I am Groot," Groot muttered.

Rocket glanced at him and translated, "Groot says you're just an ordinary person now. No way to become a Celestial."

Alan observed Quill closely, waiting to see his reaction. But all he saw was Quill shrugging with an indifferent smile.

"I was an ordinary person to begin with. What's wrong with that?" Quill had never wanted to be some all-powerful Celestial.

Living an eternity, watching his friends age and die one by one—what kind of nightmare was that?

"Maybe Ego lost his mind simply because he lived too long. Honestly, I think being an ordinary guy, meeting a group of extraordinary friends, and living a happy life together—there's nothing better than that."

Quill had made peace with his life. Losing his mother, getting taken from Earth by Yondu, growing up as a space pirate—looking back, it had all been pretty interesting.

And now, as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy with Alan and the others, things were only getting better.

"Ugh…"

A groan interrupted the moment.

Yondu, who had been knocked unconscious by Rocket's stun gun, twitched on the floor. Slowly, he raised a shaky hand to rub his throbbing head.

Then, as soon as he regained enough awareness, he shot up and shouted Quill's name. His eyes locked onto Quill in stunned silence.

Alan and the others instinctively took a few steps back, giving Yondu and Quill some space.

After all, what was about to happen was a classic emotional father-son moment. And Alan? He loved watching these kinds of scenes unfold.

Especially when they were real, not just something acted out in a movie. Fake emotions never hit the same way.

Yondu staggered forward, stopping right in front of Quill. His eyes softened, full of something rarely seen—kindness. His hands and lips trembled involuntarily.

He had been terrified that Quill would die at Ego's hands, just like the other children he had once unknowingly delivered to the monster.

If only he had known the truth sooner… maybe everything would have been different.

"Hey… Yondu…"

Quill's voice was hoarse. Now that he knew the whole truth, facing Yondu was unexpectedly difficult.

"I used to imagine what it'd be like to have a father—one who was cool and kind. And now, I realize… he was by my side all along."

Yondu froze. For a moment, his vision blurred. His eyes stung.

"Is that so?" His voice wavered. "I only wish… that man was worthy of being called your father."

Even now, Yondu couldn't bring himself to admit it.

He didn't believe he deserved that title.

"Of course, you do. You are my father. Maybe I should've called you that a long time ago."

Quill stepped forward and, without hesitation, embraced Yondu.
