Ancient One was filled with regret. She never imagined that as the Sorcerer Supreme, she would fall prey to mere words, allowing her body to be controlled.
If Thanos truly intended, as Nebula feared, to use the Time Stone to rewind time and acquire the remaining Infinity Stones through different means, the worst-case scenario would be catastrophic—the fate of the entire universe would be rewritten.
Nebula couldn't even begin to imagine such a reality. Seeing her in such a panic, Wanda and Gwen, standing behind Alan, couldn't help but feel anxious as well.
"Emperor, it's time for me to repay you!" Nebula's sudden declaration left Alan slightly stunned.
He had been silently thinking of possible solutions, but to him, this particular Time Stone wasn't especially useful. Besides, the rest of the Stones were already in his possession. Thanos only had one—it wasn't nearly enough to succeed.
Not to mention, knowing Thanos' stubborn personality, Alan was fairly certain that chasing after the past to retrieve the Stones wasn't something Thanos would even consider.
If that was part of his plan, Thanos wouldn't have spent so much time hunting the Stones down in the present.
"What exactly do you want to do?" Alan didn't immediately reveal his own thoughts. Instead, he wanted to hear what Nebula had in mind.
In a team, if everything depended solely on Emperor's strength, then the others might as well not exist. Alan didn't want to be the only one making moves—especially now, when his power alone could easily put an end to Thanos' ambitions.
For now, Alan preferred to let events play out according to the original story, especially after learning that Ebony Maw had led the Chitauri in attacking Earth.
It was clear that he needed to let the Avengers gather and handle things themselves. Unless they hit a wall they couldn't break through, Alan had no intention of stepping in directly.
He needed some rest and relaxation.
"I want to infiltrate Titan and steal the Time Stone from Thanos' side. Don't we still have the Tesseract?"
Even with the enhancements the Red Queen had given her, Nebula knew very well that her body couldn't withstand the raw power of an Infinity Stone.
It would destroy her.
Still, Nebula wanted to convince Alan to let her go alone. To her, this was a way to repay him for all the kindness and care he had shown her. She even asked the Guardians to keep her plan a secret from Gamora.
"Besides, I've already removed the tracker Thanos implanted in me. I also know his schedule by heart. If I sneak in while he's sleeping, stealing the Stone shouldn't be too difficult!"
Seeing Alan frown in silence, Nebula pushed on. "All I want is to repay you for everything you've done for me. If I can stop Thanos, I'm willing to sacrifice my life for it."
"I am Groot!"
"Nebula, I agree with Groot. This plan is way too risky. Have you even thought about what happens if you fail? You'll just be throwing your life away for nothing!"
Rocket Raccoon was firmly against Nebula's reckless idea. It was just too foolish. His eyes shifted toward Alan, waiting to see how Emperor would respond—would he allow this, or put a stop to it?
Ancient One, seeing the group's growing disagreement, spoke up with guilt in her voice. "If only I hadn't fallen for Ebony Maw's persuasion, none of this would have happened."
Perhaps she should be the one to retrieve the Time Stone—but she also knew her mortal body might not survive the journey.
Drax rolled his shoulders and declared loudly, "Hold on! If you're going, you're not going alone. I'm coming with you!"
The mere thought of Thanos slaughtering his people sent his blood boiling with rage.
