Upon seeing the Flying Thunder God seal on the scroll, Mirai immediately had a rough idea of what was going on.
The seal still carried traces of his chakra, something no one else could possibly forge.
In other words, this scroll was undoubtedly something he had left behind.
Thinking back to the original timeline, where the Dragon Veins possessed the power to transport Naruto through time—combined with what Salle and Yako had just mentioned—
Everything made sense now.
He was going to travel back in time through the Dragon Veins, to the era before the fall of Roran.
And...
There was a high probability that he had taken Sara with him when he left.
"Sending someone to remind me on purpose... does that mean I'm supposed to go to the Dragon Veins?"
"If I could've written everything down, why would I leave only a Flying Thunder God seal behind..."
"Heh, that really does sound like something I'd do."
With his mind racing, Mirai quickly pieced everything together.
He then turned his attention back to the Roran survivors in front of him.
"I remember some things, but I'm not sure if there's anything I've forgotten."
"Did I say anything else to you back then?"
Salle responded in his usual honest tone, "Lord Mirai, back then, you only told us that once we heard of your ascension as Emperor, we should come to Konoha and hand this scroll to you. You didn't say much else."
Yako quickly added, "Um... You promised us that we could settle in Konoha."
"Oh, right, right," Salle nodded. "Ever since you defeated Mukade and left with Her Majesty Sara, we also departed from Roran."
"For the past ten years, we've wandered the ninja world. We're tired of this nomadic life. Please, Lord Mirai, grant your most loyal subjects a place to stay."
Looking at the hopeful gazes of Salle and the others, Mirai's face softened into a gentle smile.
"Don't worry. I always keep my promises."
"But it will take some time. Until then, you can stay here for now."
As he finished speaking, he clapped his hands together.
"Wood Release: Four-Pillar House Technique!"
In an instant, rows of elegant wooden houses sprouted from the ground, forming a small village on the open land.
The houses were finely crafted and spacious enough to accommodate ten people each.
A perfect temporary residence for the Roran survivors.
"Alright, settle in and rest here for now."
"Once everything is arranged, I'll have someone notify you."
With that, Mirai vanished in a flash.
Salle and Yako exchanged nostalgic looks. "Lord Mirai hasn't changed at all. He still pulls off these godlike feats with ease."
"No wonder he was able to defeat Mukade, who wielded the power of the Dragon Veins back then..."
—
After parting with Salle and the others, Mirai made a quick trip home.
After informing Tsunade and the others, he immediately headed for the archives.
It didn't take long to find the records of Roran.
"Ten years ago, for unknown reasons, the citizens of Roran collectively chose to migrate, leaving the kingdom as an uninhabited ruin..."
Mirai skimmed through the scroll and memorized the location of Roran.
The next moment—
Yomotsu Hirasaka activated.
With a single step forward, he disappeared from the archives.
—
In the vast desert, fierce winds swept up waves of sand.
The scorching sun blazed overhead, distorting the air with its intense heat.
After scanning his surroundings, Mirai activated his sensory abilities and quickly pinpointed an underground chamber buried beneath the sand.
With a flicker, he appeared inside.
"So this is where the Dragon Veins is sealed?"
Staring at the sealing formula on the ground, Mirai frowned slightly.
A combination of the Four Symbols Seal layered twice and three Eight Trigrams Seals created an extremely complex sealing array.
For others, breaking this seal might be a daunting task.
But for him, it was as easy as breathing.
What concerned him more was figuring out how to use the seal and the Dragon Veins to travel more than ten years into the past.
Just then—
A sharp whistling sound pierced the air.
Two enormous centipede puppets burst from the ground, launching an attack on Mirai.
"Hmph."
"Shinra Tensei!"
With a mere glance, he unleashed a powerful repulsive force, shattering the puppets instantly.
As broken parts scattered across the floor, a ninja wearing a Sunagakure forehead protector darted toward the exit.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
Mirai raised his arm, and the escaping ninja was immediately yanked back through the air.
Smack!
He caught the ninja by the throat.
"Who are you?"
"Never mind. I'll see for myself."
Before the man could struggle, Mirai placed a hand on his head.
Moments later, he tossed the ninja aside.
"A young Mukade?"
"I didn't expect you to be after the Dragon Veins's power even at this point in time..."
"You plan to use it to overthrow my rule and become the new Emperor of the ninja world?"
"Interesting."
Having extracted Mukade's memories, Mirai chose not to kill him just yet.
Since Salle had mentioned that he once defeated Mukade, it meant that Mukade was somehow crucial to activating the time travel effect of the Dragon Veins.
Until he met Sara, Mukade had to stay alive.
After all—
The Dragon Veins's energy was far too wild. Only Sara could control it.
If he wanted access to its power, he needed her help.
And frankly, missing the chance to meet someone as beautiful as Sara would be something he'd regret for a lifetime.
With that thought, Mirai clapped his hands together. "Water Release: Wild Water Wave!"
Whoosh!
A surge of water drenched Mukade, jolting him awake.
Seeing Mirai's cold gaze, Mukade frantically scrambled backward.
"I-I'm a Sunagakure ninja! I came here by accident!"
"P-please don't kill me! I can help you unlock the Dragon Veins's seal!"
Watching Mukade's pitiful act, Mirai didn't bother exposing him.
He simply said, "Go ahead."
Mukade hesitated, seemingly surprised by how cooperative Mirai was.
Without wasting time, he scrambled to his feet and reached for the Flying Thunder God kunai embedded at the heart of the seal.
The moment he pulled it free, the Dragon Veins's energy went wild, and a dark purple beam shot skyward.
As the pillar of light engulfed Mukade, his presence vanished instantly.
Sensing the shift, Mirai immediately leaped into the light.
Moments later, the light faded—
And everything fell silent once more.
