Even though the soldiers and survivors couldn't use the massive-caliber ammunition dropped for the Goliath and mechanical beasts, their morale soared. Cheers erupted across the battlefield as more than twenty Avalons roared overhead, dropping vital supplies. As the Avalons completed their supply drops, they banked sharply, heading toward the rear of the zombie horde. Their bomb bays opened, revealing payloads of magnetic fluid cloud bombs. It was time to deal a decisive blow.
At the rear of the zombie tide, Ava and his team had been meticulously searching for the source of the second high-frequency sound wave. Their efforts finally bore fruit. "High-frequency sound waves detected! Running comparison…"
Ava piloted the second-generation Avalon with deft precision, weaving through volleys of bone spurs launched by the zombies below. The sound of compressed air bursting echoed as the spines hurtled skyward. The Avalon's advanced Ultralium alloy hull deflected the projectiles, though two of the accompanying unmanned armors weren't so lucky. Struck by the sharpened bone spurs, they spiraled down in flames. "Comparison complete. Audio match: 97.7%!"
The holographic screen displayed the results, and Ava allowed himself a rare smile. "Gotcha," he said, his voice filled with restrained excitement. The leader had been found, hidden within the swarm below. But locating it was one thing—eliminating it amidst millions of zombies was another challenge entirely.
"Send me the coordinates!" Lillian's voice cut through the comms.
"On their way!" Ava replied. Lillian immediately led the Fearless Warriors into the heart of the horde. They advanced in a tight cone formation, Lillian at the spearhead. Her pale energy sword flashed as she charged ahead, cutting through waves of zombies with terrifying precision. The Fearless Warriors followed close behind, their chain swords roaring as they bisected anything in their path—ordinary zombies, mutated variants, even the formidable lords.
The closer they got to the leader's position, the more ferocious the resistance became. One Fearless Warrior fell, his armor battered and deformed by relentless attacks. Even in death, he stood as a monument to the brutality of the battle, his dented frame covered in gore. "Born to fight, and die the same way!" one of the remaining warriors roared. Fueled by rage, they pressed on with renewed ferocity, cutting deeper into the tide.
A Mutated lord emerged from the chaos, smashing two Fearless Warriors aside with terrifying strength. "Roar—!" The lord roared and leaped high into the air, slamming its massive fists into the fallen warriors. The impact flattened them, their armor crumpling under the force.
"Die!" Lillian screamed, launching herself at the Mutated lord with explosive speed. Her blade flashed, pale energy slicing through the lord's neck in one clean motion. The behemoth's head toppled to the ground, blood spraying in a gruesome arc. The body stood frozen for a moment before collapsing with a thunderous crash.
Without pausing, Lillian charged onward, her blade cutting a path through the horde. A deafening roar of propulsion echoed through the battlefield. A massive metal giant streaked across the sky, trailing a plume of heat and exhaust. The Titan armor had arrived.
Boom! The armor landed with earth-shaking force, sliding forward and crushing dozens of zombies beneath its weight. "Roar—!" Several lords charged, their three-meter frames dwarfed by the Titan's six-meter bulk. Zack, encased within the massive machine, watched them approach. "This suit was made just for you," he said with a smirk.
Under Zack's neural command, a blade-like weapon unfolded from the armor's right wrist. Initially, it appeared as a simple metal rod, unremarkable in design. But then a low hum filled the air. Buzz! The edge of the rod began to glow, and the temperature skyrocketed. Powered by its own Sylinium reactor, the rod became enveloped in searing plasma. It glowed a deep red, the surrounding air shimmering from the heat.
The weapon now resembled a forge-fresh iron bar, its edges burning with an almost divine intensity. "Let's test this out." Zack moved forward, his massive frame dwarfing the charging lords. The first lord swung a massive claw, but Zack intercepted it mid-swing with the plasma blade.
The lord's arm was severed cleanly, molten flesh and bone dripping from the cauterized wound. Before it could react, Zack drove the blade into its chest, the plasma melting through its tough hide like butter. The lord collapsed, its insides reduced to smoldering slag. The remaining lords hesitated, growling uncertainly as they circled the massive armor. "Too late to run now," Zack said, activating the elbow thrusters for a devastating follow-up strike.
The plasma blade burned brighter as Zack surged forward, carving through the horde like a living storm of metal and fire. The three-meter-long ion sword, held in the hand of the towering six-meter-tall Titan, seemed more like a short dagger, perfectly proportioned to Zack's mechanical colossus.
"Roar—!" Several lords charged, their monstrous forms radiating raw power. But Zack was unfazed. With a single calculated sweep, he swung the ion sword in a fiery arc, slicing through the air. The air shimmered and twisted around the blade as if recoiling from its intense heat. A crimson streak trailed the sword's edge, cutting through the bodies of the charging lords. Heads rolled. Not just figuratively, but literally. Seven or eight lords collapsed at Zack's feet, their heads split cleanly in two, right through the middle. The edges of their wounds were seared black, the ion sword's extreme heat cauterizing the cuts instantly.
Thud! Thud! The bodies fell heavily, pooling at Zack's feet like discarded debris. "Now I see why Lillian always looked so cool," Zack muttered with a sly grin, twirling the glowing ion sword. The weapon wasn't just deadly—it was a masterpiece. The blade's high-frequency ions allowed it to vibrate at incredible speeds, generating a heat that could destabilize molecular structures. In simpler terms, it could cut through anything that wasn't harder or more elastic than its material.
"Master, we've located the leader!" Lillian's voice crackled through the comms. "It's hiding in this wave of corpses!" Rejoining her and the Fearless Warriors, Zack didn't hesitate. He plunged into the thickest part of the horde, carving a path straight toward the heart of the zombie wave.
The Titan's sheer size and weight turned Zack into an unstoppable force. Ordinary zombies crumbled beneath his feet, their bodies pulverized by his eleven-ton bulk. For the mutated zombies, he spared only the slightest effort—a casual swing of his ion sword was enough to cleave them in two. Even the notoriously tough Mutated Lords couldn't withstand more than a couple of strikes. "This might be the easiest fight I've ever had," Zack said, exhilarated by the sheer dominance of his new armor.
For the first time, he felt invincible, as if he could take on the entire tide of millions singlehandedly. The Titan's power was intoxicating, making Zack believe that nothing could stop him. "Sir, I've pinpointed the source of the high-frequency sound waves," Ego's calm voice cut through his thoughts. "The target has been marked."
"Got it," Zack replied, his tone sharpening. He spotted the leader immediately—an ordinary-looking zombie, unnervingly plain amidst the chaos. But its behavior gave it away. Surrounded by hordes of mutated zombies, it stood at the epicenter of their frenzied aggression, directing the horde like a conductor leading an orchestra.
