"Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots!"
I chanted along with them all, I haven't had this much fun in a while. Same goes for everyone here, finals this year have been brutal. It's only the end of my sophomore year and I already feel like pulling my hair out. Pre-med at Cambridge is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Though, despite all the stress I don't think I could be happier anywhere else. Britain has its own beauty to admire, when you get past all the smog of big cities and depressing weather of course. The countryside, the architecture, the history, the SNOW! My god I've never experienced anything as beautiful as watching snow fall for the first time. You couldn't ask for a better place to get away, a better place to distract yourself from the state of the world. The world was submerged in technological and conventional warfare. Just like Ty and I planned, the temporary paralyzed government of the former world superpower known as the United States of America was enough to tip the balance of the world governments. The U.N quickly crumbled with member nation after member nation withdrawing; throwing the world into 'World War III'. The first move was made by exactly who Ty thought it would be. With all the sleeper and covert agents, the communist governments had in the country: Russia, North Korea, China, it was Canada and Mexico that swept in to take territories. Just like that, borders were being redrawn little by little. The U.S was able to stop the encroaching lines of both nations but not until Texas, half of California, Maine, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, half of Oregon, and half Minnesota were conquered. North Korea, seeing that the democratic Americans were occupied on their own land quickly conquered the south. While China obtained Taiwan and Laos. Russia moved to occupy Kazakhstan and Mongolia. The pushing of Russia's borders to Kazakhstan was successful but the conquering of Mongolia didn't go so well, as it became a three-way struggle for the land between the Russians, Chinese, and Mongolians. When the Koreans moved to take over the island country of Japan they were met furiously by not only the Japanese but the Chinese as well, creating another three-way war. This war it seemed like it was not only for land and resources but for people. Population equaled tax revenue for the victorious country all civilians that were left in the conquered land were now citizens of a totally different country. Civilian casualties seemed to be kept to a minimum and mass murder tactics such as nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons have been kept out of the war… so far. The unrest in the Americas and Asia made Europe tense but no action has been taken. Since Russia hasn't pulled its attention west yet, the entirety of Europe was trying to conserve resources and build up their armies just in case. Though the consensus of the European citizens felt like it didn't concern them. The United States sent aid to the rest of Europe during WWII to fight the Axis powers but when the U.S called for aid this time they were ignored. Europe was enjoying their peace and being involved in another world war would be too costly. The Middle East was in a stalemate. With U.S troops recalled from the area, neighboring countries in the Middle East moved in and the conflicts continued.
For the past two years Ty and I have been living together in an apartment near campus. After the incident in D.C the blame was put all on Lucius as planned. His snooping around the capital, making sure all cabinet members were present; didn't go unnoticed by the Secret Service or CIA. With all surveillance cut off after the explosion he was the only person of interest connected to the incident. With him being found dead the same night didn't simplify things. The public just saw it as a convenient way to pin the most devastating terrorist attack of all time to a dead man. Either way with war breaking out they hardly had time or resources to delve into the matter deeply. As soon as we ended Lucius we immediately got back to Miami to procure our belongings and any evidence we were ever involved with that man. We knew as soon as Lucius identity was made known to the public "the company" will come and clean up their "mess". I always felt uneasy leaving the way we did. We didn't say a word to our friends, we dropped Ty out of school and stole a little more than 500,000 dollars from Lucius stash that he held for emergencies. I'm grateful that we had that cash don't get me wrong but the whole situation didn't sit right with me we probably should have finished off those agents. It felt like unfinished business that might come back to bite us. I wondered if I was being a good older sibling by letting all this happen. When I spoke to Ty about it he gave me a cold response with his now more frequent cold stare. He was now more immense into his plan more than ever before. We left the U.S, even without a word said to his best friend Nick. This wasn't the Ty I grew up with and his eyes seemed to be in a constant state in what we now called 'Focus'. They were now a shade of grayish green. Lucius words crossed my mind a lot as well. "Remember our agreement, I would be wise to remember that." I wondered what he meant by that, and it worried me. It made me continuously look over my shoulder. Despite my worries, Ty focused on adapting to our new home as fast as possible. Once we got to Britain, Ty quickly obtained his G.E.D and enrolled with me into Cambridge. He achieved the highest Math and Science score possible on his college placement test so he really didn't have a problem getting accepted. We've spent the past two years just observing the world and its actions while we focused on our studies. Toward the end of our sophomore years we were finally ready to take action again but a little more time having fun was needed.
"You look like you want a drink" Another guy decided to come up to me and offer a drink. I turned to politely decline again but this time I took a pause. I looked up at him and I seemed to lose my breath for a moment. I was deeply hypnotized by his emerald eyes and sculpted face. I've never been attracted to white men before but the way he dressed, the way his muscles showed through his clothing, all of it made me reconsider my taste. "Are you just going to stare at me or are you going to tell me what you would like to drink? Ha-ha." My god his smile was the stuff of beauty as well. I stuttered a little as I answered him.
"W-what makes you think I want a drink?" He continued to stare and smile at me with his Colgate worthy teeth.
"Sitting by yourself, staring off into space, and not even reacting to the music. If I'm not mistaken these are all the telltale signs. Hey bruv! Give the angel a coke and Hennessey on the rocks and Guinness for me!" I started to laugh trying to keep it as cute as possible.
"Hold up sooooo many things wrong with this. First of all, I never said I would accept your drink. Who says I even like Hennessey and eww, Guinness? Really?" He chuckled a bit and continued to smile at me and crept a little closer to me. My gosh, he even smelled good, this man was perfect. I guess I just proved it didn't matter what color you are, FINE is FINE.
"Well love, you never said you didn't want the drink. So, I just decided to be the man and make the move. What's wrong with Guinness love? It's the drink of champions! The Hennessey part, I just made an educated guess based on your sexy American accent. I've seen the viral videos." I never liked assumptions being made about me but I couldn't help but smile and laugh. I didn't know what was going on with me. I never was this- for lack of a better word: girly. Is this what it feels like to be actually feeling somebody? We pretty much closed the bar down that night just talking and laughing about absolutely nothing. This is the most fun I've had in a very long time and I didn't know that the presence of a man could feel so good. "You want to take a walk with me around the block? Kind of don't want to go home yet." I giggled yet again.
"I don't even know your name why would I leave with a total stranger?" He stood up and took a bow.
"I'm sorry sweet damsel, let me introduce myself I'm Jay and your name is?" I couldn't help but blush and admire how smooth he was.
