The chief raised a brow. "You mean guards?"
"No," Cassius snapped. "I mean this station. I want to stay here. Lock me in. Give me a cell. I don't care. Just keep me here."
The chief blinked. "Cassius… you're the head of one of the most powerful companies in the country. You have security detail. Panic rooms. Systems no one else can afford. You could have any number of officers watching your home right now."
Cassius's jaw tightened. "And yet people are dying in their homes. Executives. Senators. With guards. With fences. With everything."
The chief sighed. "I can send a squad to your house. Unmarked. High-level guys. You'll be watched 24/7. If anything happens, they'll be right there."
Cassius slammed his hand on the chief's desk.
"You don't get it!" he barked. "That's not good enough! I didn't come here to debate your options. I came here to stay alive."
Chief Lawton stiffened.
Cassius stood slowly. His voice dropped low.
