Chapter 279: Asche and Olga
Charlotte stored the Pure Gold away, keeping it hidden until the time came to use it.
As he stepped out of his cabin, he saw a small crowd gathered around Olga.
"You little brats! I'm almost two hundred years old, so don't you dare call me a little kid!"
Olga crossed her arms and glared at Robert and Deidara.
"Liar! There's no way you're two hundred—you're way too short!"
Robert mimicked her stance, crossing his arms with equal defiance.
Charlotte suddenly realized—
His five-year-old son was about the same height as Olga.
Not bad. Definitely my son.
"Y-You…!"
Olga flushed red, at a loss for words.
She wanted to argue, but—
Could she really reveal the truth?
After all—
The secret of Pure Gold was no small matter.
If word got out, it would bring disaster upon her and her father.
Seeing her hesitation, Robert and Deidara pressed their attack, mocking her mercilessly.
Olga's face turned even redder in frustration.
Charlotte sighed, stepping forward.
Without warning—
SMACK! SMACK!
He knocked both Robert and Deidara on the head.
"What nonsense are you two up to now?"
"Ow!"
"She called us little kids, Dad!"
The two boys clutched their heads, looking at Charlotte with grievance.
Charlotte glanced at Olga—
Who immediately shrank back, hiding behind Asche like a scolded child.
"She's not wrong."
Hearing this, Olga stuck out her tongue at the boys, looking triumphant.
Robert and Deidara seethed with rage.
"Enough."
Charlotte waved them off.
"Go back to your mothers. I need to speak with them alone."
Reluctantly, the two boys were dragged away by Sif and Eve.
Even as they left—
They glared daggers at Olga.
Charlotte turned back to father and daughter, silent for a moment.
The atmosphere suddenly grew tense.
Asche visibly tensed up, his body rigid with anxiety.
"S-Sir Charlotte, please don't be mad! It was just harmless teasing between children!"
He misunderstood—thinking Charlotte was upset about the argument.
After all—
They had only just joined the crew, yet already offended the captain's sons.
But Charlotte shook his head.
"This has nothing to do with that. I'm just thinking about how to arrange you two."
Then—
He suddenly reached out, grabbing the necklace around Asche's neck.
A solid Pure Gold chain, weighing hundreds of grams.
He then glanced at Olga, noticing the Pure Gold ring on her finger.
His eyes gleamed.
"I'm letting you keep your Pure Gold. But you must never let anyone find out what it is. If I hear that you were careless—"
Charlotte's gaze sharpened.
"I will take it back."
"Y-Yes! Of course!"
Asche nodded furiously.
He had no choice but to comply.
Honestly—
Charlotte was already being generous.
Most people would have taken everything, leaving them with nothing.
But instead—
Charlotte was letting them keep it.
Charlotte nodded in satisfaction.
"Asche, from now on, you'll work in my Science Division. I need you to research specific materials for me."
Asche immediately nodded.
Though he had grown rusty over the years, he still had scientific knowledge.
Getting back into research wouldn't be difficult.
Charlotte then turned to Olga.
She—
Had no real value to him.
But—
It wasn't like he couldn't afford to keep her.
"You'll stay with your father. From now on, you're a member of my crew. Also—
Your disease—go see Naichen in the medical bay. They'll cure it for you."
Olga nodded quietly.
Though she was a troublemaker, she wasn't stupid.
She had witnessed Charlotte's power firsthand—
And had no intention of provoking him.
Then, Charlotte's gaze shifted behind them.
A green-scaled creature froze under his stare.
The intelligent lizard broke into a cold sweat, instantly bowing low in submission.
It practically pressed its head to the deck, showing its surrender.
Charlotte sighed.
"Fine. You're part of the crew now."
The lizard perked up.
"You can walk on water, right?"
It nodded furiously.
"Good. Your job is simple. You're now the crew's rescue diver. If anyone falls overboard—
You bring them back."
The lizard enthusiastically wagged its tail.
Charlotte smirked.
"Alright, that's settled. Take your time getting used to the ship."
With that, he turned and left.
Olga let out a huge sigh of relief.
That pressure—
Unless you experienced it firsthand, you wouldn't understand.
Charlotte's presence alone was overwhelming.
His voice left no room for refusal.
Asche placed a hand on her shoulder.
"We're part of the crew now. No more acting up. Understood?"
For once—
Olga didn't argue.
She simply nodded.

January, 1491 – North Blue
After an entire month, they finally emerged from the Calm Belt.
As the gentle sea breeze touched his skin—
Charlotte relaxed for the first time in weeks.
Traveling through a motionless ocean for so long had been…
Exhausting.
Now—
They had finally escaped.
As Charlotte enjoyed the fresh wind, a maid suddenly rushed over.
"Captain! Lady Jeanne has given birth!"
Charlotte's eyes widened.
"Take me there! Is it a boy or a girl?"
He hurried back inside.
Jeanne had been in labor, and the sounds of her pain had weighed heavily on him.
So he had stepped outside for air—
And now—
It was already over.
As he entered the room, the faint scent of blood lingered.
Jeanne lay exhausted, but smiling.
Beside her—
A newborn baby girl.
Charlotte gently picked her up.
"From now on, you'll be Rockefeller Swifa."
This was his last child for now.
In total—
Over the past month, his wives had given birth to six children.
Two boys, four girls.
Now—
The Rockefeller Family had grown significantly.
Children:
1. Esdeath
2. Sif
3. Eve
4. Julie
5. Slude
6. Skadi
7. Hilde
8. Swifa
Eight daughters.
