Chapter 279: Queuing to Check the Changchun Fruit Energy Value

Shawn Quinn's fists clenched tightly as he desperately wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole.

How could he even begin to explain?

Coincidentally, the queue next to his was for the freshmen, and standing just behind him was none other than Hikaru.

Hikaru even had the audacity to give him a little wave and mouth a word of thanks, "Thanks, Senior..."

Shawn's fists tightened further, and after struggling to find his words for a long moment, he finally spoke, "Got robbed..."

The surrounding upperclassmen were stunned and looked at each other in disbelief.

"Robbed? By who? Freshmen aren't allowed to rob each other, and neither are upperclassmen. Who the hell robbed you?"

"Who could rob you, Quinn? I mean, among the upperclassmen here, there aren't many who could pull that off. Don't tell me it was a freshman..."

"Isn't it against the rules for upperclassmen to rob each other?"

Discussions erupted around him, and everyone eagerly awaited Shawn's response.

"Pfft..."

Next to Hikaru, Sakura couldn't help but giggle softly, turning away to avoid being noticed.

She then tugged on Hikaru's sleeve and whispered, "Big brother, it's our turn."

"Got it," Hikaru replied, stepping forward with his space backpack.

Of course, he also had the space backpack that he "acquired" from Shawn.

Given their reputation, almost everyone present recognized them, and eyes instantly gathered around as Hikaru placed both backpacks on the inspection table.

Even some upperclassmen turned their attention to him.

"That's them, right? The special recruits from this year's High School League—Hikaru and Sakura. I heard they got recruited while still in their second year of high school. That's unheard of!"

"Wait, hold on... Isn't that backpack Shawn Quinn's? No way... Did they actually rob him?"

The revelation left the upperclassmen around Shawn dumbfounded.

Starting from his sophomore year, Shawn had participated in the freshman training every year, and his reputation for plundering freshmen was well-known.

With his strength growing year by year, and with the help of his Sniffer Stoutland, he could almost always locate and loot at least a hundred freshmen each time.

Yet this year, he had been robbed himself?

Seeing Shawn nod with a dark expression, the crowd couldn't help but gasp.

Even some of the old students who had just returned couldn't believe it.

From not far away, Yura, who was also queuing up, finally pieced together the situation and understood who the "kind-hearted" senior that Hikaru mentioned earlier was.

She glanced over and couldn't help but smile in amusement.

When it was their turn, Sakura took the lead, opening the first space backpack.

From within, she began pulling out Changchun Fruits—each one bright red with a hint of green, looking almost glossy under the light.

Seeing just one or two wouldn't be too shocking, but as more and more of the fruits spilled out, it became apparent that they were all of high quality—fruits from at least 30-year-old trees.

A student standing behind them couldn't hold back his surprise and exclaimed,

"Holy crap... A hundred of them—all over 30 years old?!"

His shout immediately drew the attention of the other students, including those from the student council who were managing the inspections.

Even some of the upperclassmen looked over in surprise.

Fruits from trees older than 30 years were considered B-grade treasures.

Even though the fruits were small, each one would fetch at least a few thousand on the market.

Considering their quality, some of these looked close to 50 years old—easily worth 10,000 each!

The Rotom hovering above scanned the fruits and displayed the energy value on the screen:

"Energy Value: 12,684"

The unexpected figure left even Hikaru a bit surprised.

He hadn't expected that this bag—supposedly the least valuable—would already have such a high energy value.

The supervising student council senior, visibly shocked, cleared his throat and hesitated, "Uh... you still have another bag, right?"

Hikaru smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, this backpack was a gift from a kind-hearted senior. Is it against the rules to use it?"

The senior thought for a moment, then shook his head. "No, it's not against the rules."

With a grin, Hikaru opened the next backpack.

Just like the first, the fruits inside were equally impressive—again, predominantly over 30 years old.

Rotom scanned and displayed:

"Energy Value: 10,947"

Seeing the second high number, the surrounding students whispered among themselves, shocked and envious.

"That's crazy... Two backpacks full of high-grade Changchun Fruits!"

"How did they manage to gather so much? Are those really just from freshmen training?"

"Didn't he say that backpack was from a senior? Who would be generous enough to give away that many fruits?"

The supervising senior was still processing the numbers when Hikaru hesitated with the last bag.

This bag contained the truly valuable treasures—the S-grade Changchun Fruits.

Sakura, noticing his hesitation, giggled and offered to help, quickly opening the final backpack.

Instantly, the atmosphere froze.

The fruit inside was entirely different from the previous ones—its bright crimson color seemed almost luminescent, exuding a powerful, enticing aura.

"Wait... Is that... an S-grade Changchun Fruit?!"

The crowd fell silent as Rotom scanned the contents of the backpack.

"Energy Value: 73,526"

The supervising senior couldn't help but shout in shock, "What the... Seventy-three thousand?!"

This declaration instantly caused an uproar.

Even the upperclassmen who had been calmly observing were now openly gawking.

"What kind of luck does he have to gather that much?!"

"Wait, Shawn Quinn... Isn't that your backpack? You're telling me they took that from you and made a fortune with it?"

Shawn looked like he had just swallowed a bitter pill, his face ashen as he nodded silently.

Never in his life had he felt so humiliated.

Seeing the commotion, the supervising teacher walked over, glanced at the final score displayed, and gave a rare nod of approval.

"Impressive work, Hikaru and Sakura. Your total energy value is 97,157. That's a new record for freshman training."

Hikaru could only scratch his head sheepishly, while Sakura gave a victorious little cheer.

The other freshmen were left feeling a mixture of envy and admiration, while the upperclassmen were still trying to process how a pair of freshmen had managed to dominate the competition.
