The other venerables and the various Gu Immortals held their breaths subconsciously, staring at him fixedly.
Limitless Demon Venerable did not activate any killer move—he was using his own body to conduct this experiment.
He was simply too daring!
Even Giant Sun Immortal Venerable and Star Constellation Immortal Venerable would never attempt such a feat. While they could survive within the chaos for a time, they needed powerful defensive means to protect their bodies. Entering it without any defenses? That would lead to instant annihilation unless they could sever the afflicted body part immediately.
And yet, Limitless Demon Venerable calmly placed his arm into the sea of chaos.
Moments passed. Then he retracted it.
The arm he pulled back looked like scorched charcoal. But when he clenched his fist, the brittle outer layer disintegrated into dust, revealing a slightly thinner but perfectly intact limb.
Giant Sun Immortal Venerable's mouth fell open. "Is this… the true realm of eternal life?!"
Star Constellation sighed to herself. "Now I understand. When you created Crazed Demon Cave, you were continuously channeling chaos from beyond the world. You lunatic!"
In the past, Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable had nearly destroyed the world by tearing open a massive hole in the world boundary. Limitless had done the same—though far more subtly—creating a tiny, almost invisible hole deep within the Crazed Demon formation. If that aperture ever widened, the Gu world could be obliterated.
And he'd done all of this while making use of Heavenly Court!
"Back then," Limitless said, glancing at Star Constellation, "I had no choice. I had reached a dead end. Fate Gu bound me tightly. My only option was to plan and scheme. So I created the Crazed Demon Cave. And to ensure things didn't spiral out of control… I made sure to involve Heavenly Court."
Star Constellation's expression darkened.
"You weren't just using our research abilities," she murmured, "you made us your insurance policy."
"If things went wrong," Limitless replied, "Heavenly Court would naturally do everything in its power to repair the damage."
A beat of silence passed.
"But…" Limitless continued, turning toward Paradise Earth, "this is still not eternal life, is it?"
Paradise Earth nodded, face solemn.
Fang Yuan watched in silence. He understood—the true realm of eternal life would require complete invincibility, even against the chaos. Limitless had not reached that point… not yet.
"Just a bit more," Limitless muttered, shaking his head. "I'm lacking… just a bit."
His gaze fell on Demon Immortal Qi Jue.
"Qi Jue," he said gently, "can you lend me a hand?"
Qi Jue snorted. "Why should I?"
Limitless smiled and revealed a practice Gu. "This was always prepared for you. I've waited over a million years for this moment."
Qi Jue burst into bitter laughter. "So even my revival was part of your plan. Hah… ridiculous! I spent so long resenting you, swearing vengeance—and now I see, you were always ten steps ahead."
His laughter turned to sobs.
Limitless remained silent and gently tossed the practice Gu toward him.
Qi Jue caught it with trembling hands. Memories surged—of their past battle, the time he ambushed Limitless just before the latter could become a Venerable.
"You already ascended," Qi Jue had screamed at the time. "Why did you seal your strength and fight me on equal footing?!"
Bloodied and near death, Limitless had smiled. "Because you are my Dao Guardian. Only at the brink of death could I comprehend the bond between a Venerable and their Guardian. And I was right."
Now, tears in his eyes, Qi Jue growled, "You haven't changed… You're still that damned Limitless."
"And you," Limitless said with a smile, "are still you."
Qi Jue gritted his teeth. "Then let's do it."
He activated practice Gu.
Light enveloped Limitless, who began to grow—ten feet tall, then more.
Qi Jue's aura diminished rapidly. He weakened until he could no longer sustain the activation and collapsed.
Limitless stood tall. His aura? Completely hidden. Even investigative killer moves revealed nothing.
Giant Sun, Star Constellation, Paradise Earth, and the others stood in stunned silence. They couldn't intervene now—not even if they tried.
Limitless stretched out his arm and placed it once more into the chaos.
This time, when he pulled it back—his arm was flawless. Untouched.
A deathly silence settled.
The Venerables trembled.
All of them understood what this meant. Tribulations were inevitable for immortals. Rank nines faced a grand tribulation every ten years, a myriad tribulation every fifty—and a chaotic disaster every hundred. These disasters originated from the very chaos that now bowed before Limitless.
And he—he had walked into it. Survived it. Defied it.
"You did it," Star Constellation said quietly.
Giant Sun was silent.
"No," Paradise Earth spoke suddenly, "he hasn't."
Limitless nodded. "That's right. This isn't enough."
Then he did something unimaginable.
He opened his mouth—and began swallowing the chaos.
Like a beast devouring fire.
Gasps echoed as chaos flooded into him, spiraling into his body.
He sat cross-legged as more and more chaos entered him, encasing him, surrounding him.
For the first time, Limitless activated a killer move.
A blinding aura burst forth, shocking even the heavens.
Everyone fell silent.
They knew—
This was the final push.
Limitless had reached the end of the road long ago. But he refused to stop. He dragged the world into his madness for this one moment. To carve a new path. To forge forward where no road existed.
He stepped into the unknown.
This—was the pursuit of truth.
This—was the final step toward eternal life.
Limitless was doing his best!
A long time passed, but it felt like an instant.
Black fire started to spew out of Limitless Demon Venerable's nose and ears but suddenly they went back inside again.
Next, Limitless Demon Venerable opened his eyes slowly and looked at the immortals, saying plainly as he looked to his backside: "I almost failed it, if it wasn't for you Li Tian."
