Chapter 29
Su Ying arrived back at the her house to see the table cleared and dishes washed so she bid good night and took Xiao Ming into her room to sleep while the other went with his father. As she laid on the bed Su Ying thought of a way to boost their family conditions since she still had 1,00,000 remaining from the ginseng sell. She wanted to use it to buy land and the mountain behind them but it would be suspicious as she had no source of income so she needed a legitimate business to shake off the prying looks of people since she didn't have the strength to protect their family as of now.
She planned to start with the Fairy Tree to make Fairy tofu which she had heard of before from one the village she had visited with her master when they were exploring dishes. It was slightly identical to the 'Fairy Grass Jelly' which many people might not know about too. She planned to gather the kids to go get the branches with her tomorrow to prepare the Fairy tofu and begin sales with the help of the spring water it was bound to be successful. It was a dish not yet known in this era so she was sure it would profit well. During the day she entered the county she had gathered information and knew that this word was another dimension which wouldn't affect the real world and that she was in a dynasty which was known as the Dashan Dynasty and the village she was in is called Song San village a small unknown place.
She was going to start from this village to build her empire so her first step was the Fairy tofu and with that she closed her eyes and slept off. Unlike the other day when she was woken by a knocking sound she woke up to answer nature's call this time so she got up and went to the outhouse to relieve herself. After coming out she got the willow stick and brushed them did light stretches before drinking some spring water then entering the kitchen. She warmed up the food and scooped out for the kids who were still asleep before she had sounds indicating that her cheap husband was awake.
Xiao Shan was already awake from the time she was up and knew when she entered the kitchen so he stood up brushed his teeth and joined her. He no longer felt like going hunting so he entered the kitchen to see her scooping out the food from the pot. As she noticed him, she greeted him and handed his food to him before taking the kids own to the dinning area and going inside. Su Ying entered the rooms and woke the groggy kids up then bathed them with the water she had already boiled for them and dressed them before serving their food. As they eat she spoke up
"I'm going into the mountains to pick the Fairy Tree leaves after breakfast"
As soon as she finished speaking the groggy kids woke up immediately and eagerly wanted to follow her reminding her she promised to take them with her. Xiao Shan stared at them in confusion as they chatted excitedly feeling lost about what the Fairy Tree was all about. He cleared his throat and they turned to look at him
"I will go with you as I have nothing doing today"
"No"
Su Ying instinctively refused and he turned to look at her. Realizing how abrupt she sounded she explained her intentions
"Your leg is still injured so I can't allow you do any strenuous activities from today. As for the mountain that is because the kids have been cooped up in here so I want them to look around while you can help me by with the hare fur to sew them"
Realizing her point and knowing she wasn't deliberately excluding him he felt relieved. He gave a faint nod to show his understanding as he curiously waited for them to come back with the Fairy Tree. After eating they cleared the table and washed the dishes while she made the kids wear suitable long sleeves to avoid bites from some insects in the mountain. The kids had no mountain basket so she promised to make them one when they came back, she put on her mountain basket and together set off into the mountains.
They children chatted excitedly as they curiously asked questions which she patiently answered. She looked around remembering the route the took yesterday and with a few left and right found the spot she marked she then removed her basket and brought out the machete she came with and began chopping the lush greeny part of the tree with the branch. As she chopped the kids out into the basket and they cooperated together to get the work done. Soon the basket was full and she realized they had spent almost two hours she made the kids sit down while she ventured more to look for Fairy Tree and she saw it scattered across the mountains. She felt relieved and headed back to meet the kids.
They packed up and started going down the mountain and she even hunted another pheasant and two birds on her way with the eggs. The kids were grinning at the harvest as the trailed down the road with their mother at the thought of eating meat again. They arrived at the foot of the mountain and saw their father sewing the fur already done with one and on seeing them beckoned to them and they ran to him. They happily chatted about their trip into the mountains while Su Ying went to drop the things aside and sat with them in the courtyard listening to their chatter.
Xiao Shan made them wear the winter coat to see if it fits before continuing his Job. Su Ying remembered that she still had to repair their door and luckily Sister Fei's husband was a carpenter. Although Xiao Shan could do it she definitely didn't want him applying pressure to his leg deciding to make a trip to the their house after cooking she entered to take her bathe.
