Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: New Genesis [1]

Just as Evan initiated the teleportation, an unexpected mishap occurred.

The last time he escaped from Blue Star, there were no issues. The planet had already been fully assimilated with external mana, making transitions smooth. But this time… something was off. Perhaps One and Grim—the two Thrones among the Ten—had overlooked a critical variable. Whatever it was, it led to a devastating complication.

Evan's body was meant to be separated and stored within a teleportation relic, its preservation ensured until he returned to Earth. Yet, just as the transfer began, something faltered. His body was suspended in the void for only a few milliseconds—but even that fleeting pause was enough to wreak irreversible damage.

The human body was far too fragile to endure the raw emptiness of the void. Within those short moments, he was subjected to indescribable torment, his physical form collapsing under the immense pressure of the formless abyss.

His soul, too, came dangerously close to shattering.

But at the brink of obliteration, the teleportation process stabilized. Evan's consciousness slipped through the cracks of reality and escaped annihilation—just barely.

He had suffered a tragic duality: the complete destruction of his body… and the survival of his soul. A soul that now floated weakened and disoriented—its healing, a journey yet to begin.

Still dazed, Evan struggled to comprehend what had just happened. He couldn't recall ever entering such a state before during teleportation. Was this some rare anomaly? Or had One and Grim made a fatal miscalculation?

He made a mental note to ask them—if they even remembered.

For anyone wondering why it took so long, let it be known: Evan wasn't teleporting within the same cosmos. He was leaping from one to another, traversing layers of the void—each more dangerous than the last. The relics and items he used ensured that the journey remained undetected, safe from the hungry eyes and lurking horrors within the interdimensional abyss.

Time had no meaning here. Minutes? Hours? Days? It all felt the same.

Eventually, he sensed a shift—an invisible gate, a threshold of sorts. A different existence awaited beyond it. Within seconds, he was pulled toward a new vessel, drawn into a body not his own.

Moments passed, and he awakened in the unfamiliar shell.

He gasped lightly as his eyes fluttered open, slowly adjusting to his new surroundings—and what he saw left him speechless.

The very first thing he did… was check his body. Naturally. He'd read a novel once where the protagonist accidentally transmigrated into a girl's body due to a ritual mishap. That was not an experience Evan was looking to replicate.

Thankfully, all parts were where they should be. Relieved, he turned his attention to the room around him.

It was small. Not too different from his old one, but the furniture was arranged differently, with clothes and books scattered haphazardly across the floor. Despite the unfamiliar mess, a strange sense of nostalgia washed over him.

Would life truly change now that he had arrived in a new world?

Perhaps… but destiny rarely followed expectations.

Suddenly, a sharp numbness overtook his head—a familiar signal.

"Ah, here it comes," he muttered, groaning.

Without wasting time, he grabbed a nearby pillow, stuffed it into his mouth, and collapsed onto the bed, bracing himself.

Yes, dear fast reader—if that's what you are—it's that moment again. The memory integration phase. You didn't think transmigration was all smooth sailing, did you?

As Evan's soul claimed ownership over the vessel, the body's original soul was forcefully integrated or devoured, to be blunt—without his conscious intent. This wasn't his first time either. Three bodies. Three souls. All consumed and overwritten. Maybe they were freed to reincarnate. Maybe not.

The process began.

Memories of this body's previous owner—an entire lifetime of eighteen years—flooded into Evan's consciousness, embedding themselves like puzzle pieces snapping into place.

It was painful, mentally exhausting, but necessary. Without this integration, he would be a stranger in a world that wasn't his.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally sat up.

His mind buzzed with confusion, a strange overlap of two lives. For a brief moment, he almost believed this was his true life, and his time on Blue Star was a dream.

But he knew better. That illusion would fade soon enough.

Curious about his new identity, Evan stood and looked around for a mirror. Not finding one in the room, he instinctively headed to the bathroom—only to pause at the door.

The bathroom was smaller than what he had back on Blue Star. Compact, a little worn—but serviceable.

He looked into the mirror.

A stranger stared back at him.

For a second, Evan didn't recognize the face reflected there. Brown hair. Familiar eye color. A facial structure that bore an uncanny resemblance to his old one, yet still different in subtle ways.

"Is that… me?"

He wasn't sure. The memories were still blending, disorienting his sense of identity. Eventually, the haze would clear, and he'd fully adapt. But for now, he had to accept that this was the body he would occupy until the end. His original body was beyond repair—just fragments in the void now.

This body wasn't trained like Evan's original one, but it wasn't frail either. Born in a world bathed in mana, even the boy's mother was a natural mana-user.

And yet… not a single trace of mana existed within his body.

He hadn't awakened. Not yet.

Evan blinked, realization dawning.

"Wait… today was his awakening day, wasn't it?"

A grin crept across his face. Maybe this was fate—or maybe it was just ridiculous timing. Either way, Evan had claimed the body moments before its most pivotal transformation.

What a start to his new genesis.

To be continued…
