Chapter 224 - Chapter 223: Four Job Change Scrolls!

"Profession?"

After a moment of conquest, Novak glanced at the relaxed and slightly flushed Daphne beside him, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

In his previous life, he had long forgotten what occupation Daphne had held, but now, given their close bond, her profession mattered far more to him. Boosting Daphne's strength would mean a stronger White Emperor City overall, which was important for maintaining its power and stability. Yet, until now, he hadn't given much thought to it.

It wasn't that he didn't care—it's just that, in his previous life, Daphne hadn't been renowned for her combat abilities. Her strength had seemed sufficient with any occupation of decent grade. Still, with his influence now, a stronger profession could make a real difference.

And he happened to have a career change scrolls on hand. Even though the demons of the abyss rarely dropped these, his recent missions under the guidance of Demon Hunter had filled the gaps in his experience.

Novak had ventured into the abyss in the first place—to complete the requirements for the Demon Hunter scroll. It involved killing a specific number of lesser demons and fallen demons. Though a minor task for him, it added up over time.

Noticing the anticipation in the eyes of the women around him, Novak smiled slightly and pulled the scroll from his bag. The eyes of everyone present immediately focused on it.

A job change was invaluable in this world; such opportunities were rare. With Novak's strength and the power he'd displayed since the apocalypse began, Daphne and the others now saw him with a new clarity—a living force of nature. He'd accomplished feats beyond their imagination. Naturally, they assumed that the scroll he held would be extraordinary.

Only Dane looked relatively uninterested, more inclined to leave monster hunting and leveling to others while enjoying her beauty and luxury. The rest of the women, however, couldn't hide their desire for the chance to change professions.

Still, only Daphne and Nicole had actually reached level 10 and were eligible for a job change. Novak observed the two, and his Eye of Secrets immediately confirmed that they were indeed the only ones qualified for such a transition.

Emotionally and in terms of status, Daphne was the obvious choice. Her Amethyst Eye talent, a powerful spiritual ability, made her stand out with a unique, formidable skill set. However, Demon Hunters were close-combat fighters who relied heavily on physical prowess and demon attributes. Their skills were rooted in traps and physical tactics, with only minimal spiritual applications. For Daphne, this path would limit her own growth potential.

Nicole, on the other hand, was a perfect match for the Demon Hunter profession. Her fighting style bore a striking resemblance to Novak's own, and her A-rank talent, "The Way of the Assassin," was well-suited to the Demon Hunter's requirements.

After a moment's thought, Novak handed the scroll to Daphne, who beamed with joy at the gesture.

But when she read the description of the scroll in her hands, Daphne was briefly taken aback.

[Demon Hunter Job Transfer Scroll (S): Demons are the most violent and bloodthirsty of creatures. Legends speak of a special group that hunts them as a way of life! To kill demons, one must not only understand their power but also harness it within oneself!]

[Requirements for Use: Level 10, Agility ≥ 18, No prior job change.]

The S-rank label gleamed enticingly, and while Daphne felt the allure, her years as Queen of White Emperor City, commanding De M-anila's chaotic order, had taught her restraint. She handed the scroll toward Nicole, saying, "This suits you better, Nicole."

Nicole, surprised, looked from Daphne to the scroll, then back to Novak. Realizing he had chosen it specifically for her, she took it with widened eyes, feeling the weight of its potential. This was an S-level profession—rare and highly coveted even among top-tier evolutionists worldwide.

Novak smiled and reassured her, "Go on, take it. This profession aligns with your skills. Make the most of this power."

Nicole nodded, visibly moved, while Daphne, standing nearby, couldn't resist chiming in again.

Novak laughed, gesturing grandly, "Alright, it's just a profession! Tell me, which one catches your eye?"

In addition to the Demon Hunter scroll, Novak actually had more. During his mission at the Plague Chemical Factory, the Plague Bishop Pukasiumi had granted him three job transfer scrolls, each one extraordinary. He displayed the scrolls for everyone to see:

An S-rank Plague Knight, another S-rank Exorcist, and—most astounding of all—an SS-rank profession, Doom's Child, a class so rare it appeared only once among the elite on the global evolution leaderboard.

The group looked on in shock. Any one of these scrolls, if publicized, would stir up immense envy and chaos, yet here they were, laid casually before them as if they could simply be taken at will.

However, all of them, even Daphne, hesitated. Had Novak offered an S-rank profession tailored to her strengths, she would have accepted it without question. Yet the Plague Knight and Exorcist didn't align well with her abilities, and the unknown nature of Doom's Child made her wary. Could she really accept an SS-level profession so easily?

Doubt gnawed at her, and the room stilled, everyone caught in the weight of possibility, an intense silence hanging in the air.
