Chapter 230 - Chapter 230: Large-Scale Infrastructure Plan

When it comes to disinfection, Su Wu naturally thought of the Snowstorm Mercenary Corps' fleet that had escaped to the outside world under his pursuit. There must be a significant amount of Rola virus on those ships. He wondered whether it would cause any additional disaster.

"I hope it won't be an issue," Su Wu sighed.

For him, the population is the most precious resource. As long as he holds it, it can continuously generate spiritual energy. He truly hopes there won't be a large-scale death due to some unforeseen event.

After thinking for a while, still feeling somewhat uneasy, Su Wu silently added an additional pharmaceutical production task to the production plan. He plans to stockpile a larger quantity of Rola virus vaccines and cure medicines. These items are cheap to produce, so it's not a bad idea to stockpile more in case they might be useful later.

After the large-scale disinfection, the second crucial issue was food supply.

Since Su Wu had integrated all of Jianghe City and became the ruler of nearly 5 million people, he naturally had to take on the corresponding responsibilities. At the very least, he had to ensure that the population under his rule had enough food to survive.

After reviewing the stock and production situation of various shelters, Su Wu found that solving this issue was much easier than he had initially thought.

Not to mention, the inventory warehouse alone, with its unshelled rice reserves, could feed the entire population of Jianghe City for two years. Add in canned food, frozen meats, and other long-preserved foods, and the overall supply could meet the city's population's needs for two and a half to three years without any problem.

In addition to this, the former official shelters and various civilian shelters also had sizable planting gardens and breeding farms. According to their outputs, Su Wu did a quick calculation and found that he didn't even need to use the food reserves from the warehouse. The output from those farms alone could feed everyone and even improve the quality of their daily meals.

"This kind of productivity," Su Wu murmured. "How did it end up with so many people struggling to get enough to eat?"

He was silent for a moment, almost suspecting that the hardships people had talked about in the official and civilian shelters were all exaggerated.

Shaking his head, Su Wu sighed again and made substantial revisions to the original production plan. All the plans for rapid-growing planting gardens in the second ring of the Nongjia Shelter were scrapped. Instead, he opted for a 3:1 ratio to build regular farming gardens and animal breeding farms.

Two-thirds of the space in the regular farming gardens would be used for growing corn, rice, and wheat, while the remaining space would be used for planting vegetables and fruits.

Ninety percent of the space in the breeding farms would be dedicated to raising chickens, with the remaining ten percent for pigs, cows, sheep, and other large animals.

Now that basic food supplies were no longer a problem, there was no need to continue expanding the rapid-growing gardens that produced subpar food. On the contrary, vegetables, fruits, and meat chickens had become more important at this time. The more they produced, the better the quality of food for the ordinary residents of the shelters.

As for planting corn, rice, and wheat—crops that hadn't been cultivated before—they were primarily for increasing the food reserves, since food production takes time. If the farms or breeding grounds were destroyed or if there was an influx of people from outside, having sufficient food reserves would be essential.

Lastly, Su Wu allocated a small portion of space for breeding pigs, cows, and sheep. These would be used as luxury goods and rewards, or to be sold externally at a high price. The profits from these high-end food products would allow Su Wu to buy more resources or to encourage those working hard in the shelters.

After addressing the environment and food, the next step was systematic development. There was no need for urgency, and Su Wu, feeling a bit more relaxed, merged all the newly added shelters into the three-dimensional map of Jianghe City.

The many large and small shelters that could accommodate nearly 5 million people were all marked on the map. When Su Wu looked at the map, it resembled a dense star field in the sky.

The first plan for these shelters was to construct a new underground transportation network, connecting all the shelters near the city center with populations of over 500 people. These would then be incorporated into the original underground transportation network of Su Wu's shelter.

Because there was no shortage of time or resources, Su Wu decided to build wide passenger tunnels, each 1 meter in width and 1.7 meters in height, instead of narrow material transportation channels. This would allow both people and materials to move simultaneously through underground tunnels, making all the underground shelters feel more like a cohesive whole.

In the mountains, Su Wu also planned a smaller underground transportation network. However, due to the complex terrain, connecting every shelter in the mountainous areas with underground tunnels would be several times, even tens of times, more expensive than in Jianghe City's downtown area.

Despite Su Wu's wealth, he still hesitated to waste so many resources on building these tunnels. Therefore, the transportation network in the mountains would be relatively simple. Only shelters with a population of over 2,000 people would have a one-way passenger tunnel. Shelters with fewer people would rely on spider robots and transport vehicles to move people and materials to nearby shelters with underground tunnels.

This was just a temporary plan. Later on, Su Wu would build two long-distance passenger tunnels between the mountains and Jianghe City. Slowly, he would transfer the population and materials from the moun

tain shelters to the city.
