"That's strange. It would be typical for them to ask for money or something."
"That's the most troubling part for me too. If they wanted money or anything else, I could just give it to them, but they're not demanding anything..."
As she spoke, Emily showed the blackmailer's messages left on her phone. They were sent through a foreign messenger app known for being difficult to trace.
A photo of the two of them in an intimate moment was being sent once every few days.
There were no additional messages besides the photos, which made it feel even more eerie. The most recent message had been received just last night.
Emily said in a trembling voice,
"I'm so scared, I can't take it anymore..."
"Have you reported this to the police?"
"No, that's absolutely out of the question. If the police get involved, my husband and in-laws will find out... What if I end up getting divorced because of this?"
Emily's face turned pale at the mention of reporting.
