Isla placed her son gently on the tiny bed tucked in the corner of Elaris home. She knew that the only thing he needed right now was rest. He needed to rest. His breath was now steady,his little fingers curling and uncurling around the edge of the blanket. She patted his white hair with her palm, placing a soft kiss on the top of his head. She knew that she wouldn't be able to live if anything happened to him.
She turned to speak to Zade, but stopped.
She felt someone in the air. Something that smells like rot.
And then—a presence.
She could smell the horrible stench before she even saw it.
Slowly, Isla turned around—and froze.
Standing in the corner close to the kitchen door, looking like a ghost that had just been dragged straight out of a bad dream was Alyssa.
She was almost unrecognizable. This wasn't how she looked the last time Isla had seen her.
