Anna walked into the class, walked past her old friends now turned enemies. Ever since she stopped being friends with them, the other two did their best at ignoring her at school all because they didn't want to be on Penelope's bad side, not like she cared anyway, but it did piss her off.
She and Laura had been childhood friends. They grew up in the same neighborhood, attended the same school, that was, until Laura's family moved to a different state. The two of them were used to living like twins, so Anna persuaded her parents toet her go to study in the same school Laura attended, this they agreed to if only she was willing to live in the school. She agreed willingly, so long as she could re-unite with her best friend.
And when she joined her friend, the Laura she knew was not the Laura she met. Her friend had changed, and the kind of friends she befriended were the kinds she had sworn back then she would never speak a word to.
But Anna was yet to give up on their friendship. She walked to her new seat ignoring Penelope as she passed by, which seemed to piss off Penny.

"Bitch." Penny cursed out loud as she looked away from Anna.
Cathy chuckled, but Laura got tensed.
Penny looked at the class monitor who was writing some notes on the board, but she could not see a thing, as her mind was elsewhere.
'That bitch. She's all cocky cause she knows I can't beat her up. She's stronger of course. I thought she practiced Tae Kwon Do to be the brawl in our group, I supported her and now, it's all backfiring. I don't even dare raise a hand at her, I'm gonna end up on the floor. If I hire people to beat her up she gonna figure it all out and will end up beating me up. What if they just beat her to death? Oh! No, I didn't just think of that. No, they could just beat her up, enough for her to spend a few months in a hospital, that's way more better. But what if she beats them up instead? I've seen her beat up three thugs before. Damn it, what can I do that will really affect her?"

Laura stared at Penelope, wondering just what she was thinking. If anything, it definitely was not something good. Laura looked away, stealing a glance at Anna who was treating her like she no longer existed. Now that they were both avoiding themselves, and she could not visit her after school, since Anna lived in the school, and non-boarders were strictly prohibited from visiting the boarders in the hostel, how was she to tell Anna that her parents asked Anna to join them for dinner.

As soon as school closed, Laura excused herself from the other girls and stepped out of the class. If the Anna she knew since childhood was still the same Anna, she knew the right place to wait for her.

Anna stepped into the canteen to get some snacks, and was surprised to see Laura with two paper bags full of snacks. She ignored her and was going to walk past her when Laura held her arm.
"Anna, can I have a word with you?"
Laura was praying silently, hoping Anna would agree to her request.
Anna was not the type to mince words, she said exactly what she wanted.
"No." Anna replied and flinched Laura's hand away.
"Please Ann, for old times sake."
Anna paused, and looked at Laura a bit pissed off.
"Oh." she scoffs
"so you do remember you have an old time friend. It seemed like you forgot about her ever since you started attending this shitty school."
"I'm sorry Ann."
"Don't be. And also, you don't want to be seen with me right, you don't want to be on her bad side. If you are here to tell me to make up with you darling, you are on the wrong road, cause I will never go back to being friends with you unless you leave those bitches alone."
"I'm not here for them. I actually do have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Can we find a more comfortable spot to talk?"
"Fine."
