"Did you hear that?" Ruby closed his eyes. "I didn't hear anything."
Steven stood up, looking seriously at Sapphire. "Are you sure you heard something, Sapphire?"
"I… I'm not entirely sure," Sapphire scratched her head. "It sounded like it came from the meteorite… but it disappeared almost immediately."
Natsume stood up, brushing his wet hair aside, and sighed.
"If it's real… then it must be Jirachi's telepathy."
"Jirachi resonates with those who have a pure heart and awakens when the comet descends… If nothing goes wrong, this meteorite must be the real deal."
Steven also nodded slightly. "It seems… only Sapphire heard Jirachi's call."
"Huh? Why Sapphire?" Ruby asked, puzzled.
Sapphire's eyebrow twitched, and she clenched her fist. "What do you mean by that?"
Ruby quickly waved his hands, sweating. "I just think… Jirachi has great taste!"
"Anyway," Steven said thoughtfully, "Sapphire, you should hold onto this stone for now and see if anything else happens."
"Got it!" Sapphire nodded.
"By the way, Natsume-sensei, you can use Chichi's flames to dry your clothes!"
"Oh, thanks."
Chichi was the nickname for Sapphire's Blaziken.
It had to be said, having a Fire-type Pokémon during camping was incredibly convenient.
After changing into dry clothes, Natsume muttered to himself, "Maybe I should… catch a Fire-type Pokémon too?"
But then he thought about it and realized the chances of his house burning down would increase exponentially…
Natsume's expression changed. "I'm never catching a Fire-type Pokémon in this lifetime!"
...
Outside the tent, Sapphire sat on a large rock, holding the meteorite and swinging her legs.
"Natsume-sensei seems to know a lot about Jirachi."
Ruby leaned against Sapphire, resting his head on his arm.
"As expected of a Champion, just like Master. They're all incredibly knowledgeable."
"You know a lot about Celebi too, don't you?" Sapphire smiled.
Ruby looked up at the darkening sky and smiled softly. "I hope it's happy."
"The singing is back," Sapphire whispered. "It's coming from the meteorite."
"I didn't hear anything," Ruby scratched his head, sweating. "Does that mean… I'm not pure anymore?"
Sapphire pushed Ruby away. "Go away!"
Ruby grinned. "I'm not leaving. I'm sticking with you!"
...
Night fell.
Natsume glanced at the lovey-dovey couple and sighed as he cast his fishing line into the stream.
Why?
Even though I was prepared, I still got fed a mouthful of dog food!
Steven also cast his fishing line and said in surprise, "Natsume-sensei, you're quite good at fishing."
"Not bad," Natsume replied calmly.
[Fishing Lv3 (34/100)]
"Splash—"
With the sound of water, his fishing proficiency jumped up significantly.
A cream-colored, serpentine Pokémon with pink tendrils broke the surface of the water.
"Milotic?" Natsume was stunned.
"Ah, that's Ruby's Milotic. It's playing in the water," Steven said with a smile.
"Milotic!" Milotic looked at Natsume and gave a sweet smile.
"Hello."
Natsume greeted it and tossed a Pokéblock toward the water.
Milotic performed a graceful leap, catching the Pokéblock mid-air and splashing water before diving back in.
Five minutes later.
"Huh? Milotic again?"
Another five minutes.
"You're back?"
Five more minutes.
Natsume took a deep breath, raised his fishing rod, and his expression changed. "I really don't have any more! Please stop biting!"
"Milotic!" Milotic swayed its tendrils and gave a shy smile.
...
"Whoosh!" Blaziken blew a small flame, igniting the orange campfire.
The sky was heavy with dark clouds, and the stars were barely visible.
"Will there really be a meteor shower?" Sapphire hugged the meteorite, looking worried.
"Let's be patient a little longer."
Steven sat by the campfire, his suit draped over his arm, his light-blue hair illuminated by the flames.
"Jirachi's awakening takes seven days. There's no need to rush."
Ruby, wearing glasses, silently knitted by the campfire.
"Is that for Sapphire?" Steven asked, sipping his tea.
"Yeah… I make all her headbands," Ruby nodded. "She's too clumsy to learn how to sew…"
Sapphire bared her fangs, intending to scare Ruby, but in the end, she just sipped her tea sulkily.
Over the campfire, a pot of steaming curry was cooking.
Natsume took out a Cheri Berry, squeezed a few drops to add spiciness, and nodded in satisfaction. "Alright, it's ready to eat."
"This looks amazing!" Sapphire's eyes lit up.
Ruby swallowed hard. "This… this is Charizard-level curry!"
Suddenly, everyone turned to see Steven pouring a second ladle of curry into his bowl…
Ruby's lips twitched.
Have some restraint, Mr. Steven!
"Mmm! This is so good!" Sapphire said with her mouth full. "Ruby, you have to try this!"
Ruby took a bite of the curry and immediately teared up. "Finally, I don't have to eat Sapphire's cooking anymore!"
Natsume chuckled and shook his head.
In the System List, his Cooking skill leveled up, and its medicinal effects became even stronger.
[Cooking Lv4: Greatly enhances your culinary skills, including knife work, ingredient selection, and heat control. (What? You're a Master Chef?!)]
...
The campfire illuminated the faces of the little ones.
Natsume got up to feed the Pokémon.
Ruby had the same idea, but after taking a few steps, he froze.
"MIMI! Why are you over there with Natsume-sensei?!"
"Milotic?" Milotic swayed its pink tendrils and shyly lowered its head.
It wasn't just Ruby's Milotic. Sapphire's Tropius and Blaziken, even Steven's shiny Metagross…
The Pokémon had formed a circle around Natsume-sensei.
Natsume stood under the moonlight, speaking sternly. "One each. No cutting in line!"
Even the mighty silver Metagross lowered its head and obediently joined the queue.
"Haunter!"
Haunter, its mouth stuffed with Pokéblocks, flew around the group shamelessly, drawing envious glances.
Ruby was stunned.
Even… even Mr. Steven's Metagross has fallen for this?!
Looking closer, Ruby's pupils shrank.
Even though it was just a basic Oran Berry Block, in Natsume-sensei's hands, it looked like a sparkling gem.
The quality… was completely beyond Ruby's abilities.
Even Wallace Master might not be able to make a more perfect Pokéblock…
"Natsume-sensei…"
Ruby swallowed hard, his voice trembling. "You call this… a regular Pokéblock?"
"Huh? This?"
Natsume was slightly surprised and handed the Oran Berry Block to Eevee on his shoulder.
"Eevee!" The little one turned its head away in disdain.
Natsume scratched his head. "Isn't this just basic skill?"
Nani?!
It felt like ten thousand Tauros were stampeding through Ruby's heart.
Ruby's eyes widened.
...
"Ah, it looks like there won't be a meteor shower tonight."
Sapphire hugged her knees, placing the meteorite beside her, and let out a long sigh.
Ruby sat back down next to Sapphire, his expression strange. "Natsume-sensei… might actually be a Pokémon Coordinator Champion."
"Isn't he a Breeder? His cooking is so good…"
"Then… he can also go toe-to-toe with Mr. Lance?"
The dumb couple fell silent for three seconds before exclaiming in unison, "So amazing…"
Meanwhile.
Steven looked up at the thick clouds and sighed. "What bad timing."
"With this weather, even if Jirachi awakens, it won't be able to resonate with the stars…"
Natsume wasn't worried about the meteor shower.
Thick fog rose on either side of the rocky peak, the temperature dropped, and the sky was covered in dark clouds.
"Cynthia probably won't be able to make it today," Natsume sighed inwardly.
"By the way, did you send Cynthia your location, Natsume-sensei?" Steven asked.
"I did, but the signal up here isn't great. It might be a bit off."
"That's fine," Steven smiled. "I've already sent her the exact coordinates."
"Huh?" Natsume was slightly surprised.
Are Pokémon world phones that advanced? They can pinpoint exact coordinates?
Maybe I should get myself a Rotom Phone or something…
"By the way, Mr. Steven, do you know how much a Rotom costs?" Natsume asked.
"Around three million Pokémon Coins. Rotom can be mass-produced now, but the supply is still rare," Steven replied.
Natsume clicked his tongue.
In the TV show, Professor Samuel Oak (Alola Forms) could just hand out Rotom Pokédexes like candy…
Ash Ketchum really is the league's golden boy!
But the price… with some effort, I might actually be able to afford it…
Suddenly, Natsume's phone vibrated.
[Cabbage Ice Cream: I'm almost there]
Natsume: ???
You're almost here?!
Natsume quickly looked out at the clouds beyond the rocky peak.
The sky was thick and heavy, not a single ray of light visible. But in the far distance—
A Garchomp tore through the dense sea of clouds, and moonlight spilled through the gap.
A golden-haired woman stood atop the Garchomp, as if walking on moonlight itself.
