"You want some, come and get some!" Dante yelled as he readied his stance to face off against the lizardmen. They banged on their shield once more as they began their war cry, causing them to enhance their ferocity. Iris stepped behind Dante and began to chant.
"Bless those who stand with me in troubled times, give them peace and tranquil standing in times of need. Bless their souls with endless vigor!"
"Levo!"
Dante suddenly felt a surge of energy rise within him, as if his body had been fully recharged with energy, he glanced back at Iris to see she wore a focused look on her face, that only motivated him even more to get out of this situation.
He gripped his sword as the lizardmen began to rush forward trying to avoid the fire set on the ground.
"The great thing about you big reptiles, is that I don't have to swing low!" he said as he dashed forward, clashing his flaming sword with the monsters. He felt the pushback from the monster before kicking the monster in the gut, causing it to gasp from the shock of the blow before a flaming slash followed through, slashing down its body before bursting into a burst of ash, dropping its materia.
"Dante! Pincer!" Iris screamed out as two lizardmen approached with weapons in hand, she quickly opened her book from her pouch and cast a spell quickly. Looking intensely at the monsters and grappling their weapons with vines shooting from the ground, leaving them open for an attack.
"Thanks–!" he yelled as his sword slashed through the two wide open lizardmen, dissolving them with a single slice of flame. There was one more who sat behind the others, he was bigger and darker than the previous ones. It snarled as it banged on its shield loudly. Dante couldn't help but grin as this'd been the most he's fought since back in Riverant.
"You…got this!" Iris yelled as Dante burst forward, meeting the lizardman head on. His grin only widened as he stared into its eyes intensely as their swords met with one another.
"You got quite the weapon there, big boy. Wanna see which of us is stronger?"
"Grrr…AAHHH!!"
It screamed out as Dante quickly stepped back from its downward attack. Causing a large dust cloud to come from the shattered rocks on the ground. Dante appeared from the dust as he'd pushed himself from one of the giant boulders in the surrounding area. Pushing his sword in front of him as it connected with the creature's shoulder, pushing itself deep within its body. Causing the monster to scream out once more in pain as it swung its weapon downward, trying to connect with Dante.
"Not gonna be that easy—!"
He quickly pulled the sword out of the shoulder as he pushed himself off of the monster, dislodging his sword and flying backwards off of the monster. Iris watched in marvel at his ability in the fight, finally understanding where all of his work went into, spellcasting wasn't what he was good at, it was this. She looked around before noticing the lizardman rushing forward with bright red eyes.
