Chapter 76 - Playtime?

As the two went off hunting Thanatos remained stuck. He knew he agreed to teach Marco but he had a major issue.

Yes he could teach him various scythe techniques, footwork, breathing and whatnot. BUT he could not give him a practical fight.

Imagining someone with as much power as Marco wielding his weapon perfect was spine tingling. It was akin to giving an apex predator modern weapons while others used their bodies.

Completely unfair or in another words if he successfully impart him with these arts he couldn't think of any being Marco could realistically spar against.

Sparring was an extremely important aspect of strength building.

One must review their techniques flaws and strengths, as warriors knows one must hone their strengths to it's zenith while compensating for their short comings.

Thus, sparring to discover ones own short comings was an important part of the process. If Marco really masters his techniques he assumes only Atlas the strongest titian could withstand some hits.

But he was doubting if he could last past a few attacks. The only beings he knew off the top of his head that could possibly still be stronger than the fully trained Marco.

They were Son Wukong, Erebus, Ra, Sango, Shiva, Kali, Odin and the thing that slumbers beneath the depths.

These beings were in a class he hasn't reached, if he was honest he has been trying for quite awhile. But there was simply too many factors holding him back.

One such example was the near endless administrative work he had to perform in the underworld. Being a god of death was scary and all but between guiding the souls and ensuring guidelines were followed consume quite a bit of time.

As he thought about solutions he was just reminded of his own issues. Sometimes he just wanted to throw all his work to Zeus to make that walking ball of pride humble himself.

He was finding every possible way to lay with anything with a hole while he was stuck in 'paperwork' hell.

As he was getting more depressed thinking about the issue, Thanatos decided to put it aside for now. He would worry about finding Marco a suitable opponent later on.

Yes as he was too frazzled with the current issues he completely forgot that Marco could simply limit himself during sparring.

Sometimes overthinking can be a good thing but majority of the time it is basically a handicap.

Looking around he found that he was sitting alone, both Marco and Cerbi were gone. Slowly Thanatos got up intending to go looking for the two.

As he was contemplating which direction he should head, an earthquake shook the earth beneath his feet.

Raising his eyebrow he looked around, to his immense relieve he saw Cerbi running towards him with what seemed like a giant hog. When it saw it's master Cerbi's eyes shown with excited while it started barking happily.

While Cerbi ran happily towards him he felt the air on his right tremble. Curious Thanatos turned his head only to have his jaw drop in sheer disbelief.

Why was he shocked? Oh thats because in each hand Marco was flying over with the carcass of a spinx. One of the deadliest monster species of hell, but something was not right.

He knew that when one attacked a spinx the whole group will come until you are complete devoured.
