"...sorry, I didn't mean to... make your shirt damp."
Elsie pulled away from Nathaniel after some time, her green eyes had the traces of red. The man's soft chuckles echoed above her head as she stared at the wet spots on his pajama shirt.
This was... quite embarrassing.
Elsie chewed her lower lip. She kept her head low, too shy to look at Nathaniel, whose gentle laughter tickled her heart.
"You know that you don't have to worry about such a thing," said Nathaniel, his voice having the hint of tenderness that he reserved for Elsie only.
Elsie replied nothing. She couldn't help but feel ashamed for crying like this again in Nathaniel's arms, like the one time back in the flower garden a few weeks ago.
Nathaniel's lips quirked into a smile. He placed a palm on one side of Elsie's face, gently pressing his thumb under her eye. The warmth of her remaining tears seeped into his skin.
