When Felix arrived at the Potter House, it was a nice looking and simple house. It had two floors and was quite spacious. It didn't scream wealthy, but didn't seem poor either. From what Angel had told him, the Potter's did hold money and despite being purebloods, they always just floated in the background outside the spotlight.
Upon meeting Euphemia, Felix found her to be a kind older woman with some graying hairs and wrinkles on her eyes. Much like Fleamont, she was entering her upper years even as a witch which showed the amazement of having both James and Angel. Yet, from Angel words, she can have a bit of a temper if pushed too much.
Originally, Felix was supposed to stay in the guest room, but it seems between Fleamont and Angel leaving to pick him up and returning. Both James and Sirius accidentally made the room unusable as they were trying to create some magical frisbees. Instead of the special effect trailing behind, the frisbees went crazy like a bludger from the wizarding world favorite sport Quidditch.
So after a hard refusal from James and Sirius mainly due to the messy room. Felix after many twists and turns is staying in Angel's room. During which, Euphemia gave Angel a lecture, while Fleamont just gave him a pat on the shoulder and said a few words. This just raised questions in his mind, but decided not to put much thought into it.
"What do you want to do?" Angel asked.
"I don't know." Felix shrugged.
He really didn't know what to do since he didn't know what they had. Due to being a wizarding family, watching a movie didn't seem reasonable. Enchanting a frisbee like James and Sirius didn't sound interesting. Not to mention Euphemia had put a ban on such things for the time being and both boys are now fixing the room.
"Shall we play a game?" Angel suggested.
"Ok." Felix nodded. "Which one do you want to play?"
"We got a few magical games, but my father also bought and lightly enchanted some muggles." Angel held her chin in thought.
Felix thought about it and didn't really mind either option. The magical world exploding snap and gobstone weren't really his cup of tea. The exploding snap, the cards will make a loud bang and the card would pop apart and reform in a minute or so. While the gobstones will spit out smelly liquid at the one losing the point of that round.
Why the magic world feels the need to make such a game, he didn't know. It was much like how the bludgers were made out of iron and bewitched to fly quickly in quidditch. Luckily the magical world could heal most wounds fairly quickly otherwise quidditch would cripple ninety percent of the players after a game or two.
Granted, there are still accidents, especially when one takes such a ball to the head. Luckily there seems to be a charm or some spell that softens the impact a bit when it hits the head. Otherwise at the speed these balls fly, most witches and wizards would be headless corpses.
"So what game do you want to play?" Felix asked.
"Well, I got monopoly, twister, connect four, and a deck of cards for muggle games. My mother doesn't really like gobstone or exploding snap, but we do have a set." Angel said after some thought.
Felix sort of wished it was a few years later, then he would have chosen twister. While he didn't really mind playing it now, it would be more embarrassing later. As for monopoly and connect four, he didn't really mind either.
"I let you decide on what to play. Just not exploding snap and gobstone."
"Ok." Angel nodded happily.
In the end, Felix found himself playing monopoly with Fleamont and Angel. Angel had tried to invite James, Sirius and Euphemia, but the three weren't interested in playing. So the three of them played with Angel giving up at the second hour since she was on the verge of bankruptcy. Afterwhich, Fleamont and Felix decided to consider it a draw between themselves since they fell into some sort of stalemate.
--
Later that night while sitting inside Angel's room, Felix wrote in a journal about advancing the communication of the magical world. He was expanding on his previous ideas such as making a communication watch or a snail phone. However, after spending the day with the Potter's, Felix learned it might be a bit too much of a jump for most wizarding families.
It turns out that most magical families are resistant to change and if he suddenly starts selling them. Many probably won't buy them not understanding the usefulness or disdain them thinking owls were better.
So, he simply put a hold on those ideas and decided to refine a book that would function as a social chat platform. Maybe after a few years, he would then release the snail phone and communication watches. There was no big rush after all since his real goal for setting up things is to earn money to build a college.
While he hasn't quite settled on building a college yet, Fleamont and Euphemia expressed support. Both found such ideas useful as it would lighten up on the businesses needing to spend resources on training its new employees. Which is risky as one might not know when the employee might quit and switch jobs.
This reason is also why Fleamont chose to sell his business. James showed no interest in taking over and the last couple employees he tried to train in taking over left. That was one reason, the other being the amount of gold he earned, as long as not spent foolishly could support the family until his grandson graduated from Hogwarts.
"Felix, why is summer homework so troublesome?" Angel grumbled.
"Why are you complaining? Your homework is not even a tenth of mine." Felix felt like crying.
At first he thought his homework would be easier than what he had to do at Hogwarts. Instead, he felt it was more as the professors thought since he didn't have classes. So he ended up having more questions to answer and spent most of his days answering the seemingly endless questions.
"Just writing papers and answering questions is boring. Why can't we practice spells?" Angel put her head in her hands.
"Many students live in areas surrounded by non-magicals and if an accident happens at home. Issues arise from either exposing magic or spells going wrong." Felix shrugged. "Not all are great at using magic like us and John."
"That only applies to those raised in muggles' families. My father said the trace isn't that accurate and if I cast spells here, most would think it was my parents casting." Angel replied with a sigh.
"Then the answer is simple. One just needs to set up various buildings around the land so Hogwarts students can go during summer to practice spells and maybe get tutored. Maybe even set up a night class for adult witches and wizards." Felix said off handedly.
"Sort of like Kwikspell?" Angel asked.
It took Felix a minute to figure out what she was talking about before he remembered. The Kwikspell Company held tutoring sessions to help witches and wizards brush up their basic spellwork if they needed it. This company also was recognized and promoted by various schools and even the Wizarding Examinations Authority.
"Yeah, but more like a gym where there is a public space to practice on one's own or able to hire a trainer to learn basic or more advanced magics. Such as the Patronus Charm for example or even the Shield Charm." Felix replied.
"This sounds very costly." Angel sighed.
"Just make a membership system. A sickle a week or month of something or few knuts per visit. For using the trainers, just make a couple sickles per hour." Felix threw out a few possible prices. "It might not be profitable in the short term, but it should be long term if it gets recognized. Especially if you expand the business to other parts of the world."
"I wonder if I can get my dad to do it." Angel muttered to herself.
Upon hearing this, Felix could only mentally say sorry to Fleamont.
