Kira's POV
My hands shook while I opened the letter, my heart racing in my ears. The parchment was coarse against my fingers, the ink pronounced and purposeful, as if every word had been etched with care.
My gaze quickly scanned the initial lines, and a chill coursed down my back.
"This was simply an experiment, Moonkeeper." A glimpse of what lies ahead. "You might have triumphed in this battle, but the true conflict starts now."
I tightened my jaw. Asher's hubris seeped into each word, his self-assurance unsettling. He penned it as if the result had been predetermined, almost as if destiny itself favored him. My breath caught when I glimpsed the next section.
"You cannot escape your fate." "I understand what you are turning into."
My stomach churned. He was aware. In some way, he was aware of my talents—of the visions and the strength developing within me. But in what way? Was someone providing him with information? Or could he have been observing me from the darkness?
