A few weeks have passed and Danny is slowly beginning to adjust to his new life, in these days he's picked up the hobby of gardening using the large surrounding yard as his garden. He spends his days heading into the nearby forest to gather some seeds and proceeding to plant them in the garden.
Meanwhile Alaric continues his duties as a knight, heading out early in the morning and returning late at night and on his off days he would spend time with Danny, helping him tend to the garden and eating out during the evening. Occasionally Avice would visit to check up on the both of them even joining them on their activities when she was there.
Although this new life was not so bad Danny still thought about his parents on a daily base especially during the days was his uncle is working and he was alone in the house. Thoughts of sorrow overcame him every time he pondered that day and over time those sorrowful thoughts gradually turned into thoughts of vengeance and before he realized it his heart became set on seeking revenge for his parents.
The sun has risen and a new day has arrived and as usual Danny found himself home alone so he quickly got up and made himself some breakfast before going to the garden. While tending the garden Danny began having thoughts of vengeance once more, these thoughts invoked his anger causing him to grip the flower in his hand tightly.
Upon realizing what he was doing he quickly let go of the flower. The situation made him realize that his emotions were getting out of control more and more each day and so he decided to confront his uncle with these feelings as soon as he returned. Time passed until the sun began setting and when evening broke his uncle returned on queue.
Taking this chance Danny quickly approached his uncle but before he could speak Alaric quickly waved him off telling him that he had to go take a shower and after saying so he began taking off his armor and hanging it, he then placed his sword down before heading to the bathroom. Danny waited for his uncle to finish bathing before approaching him this time making sure his uncle would hear what he had to say.
Uncle I need to talk to you.
Can't we talk another time kiddo, right now I'm tired I just need to eat and I'm heading straight to bed afterwards.
No uncle this is important, please I need to talk to you.
Important eh? Alright I'll hear you out but you'll have to make it quick I can feel myself slipping. Let's go to the common room.
Uncle I've been thinking about my parents a lot during the past few weeks.
Danny you...
Please let me talk uncle. Normally when I think about my parents I would get sad but for these past few days I've been feeling angry when I thought about them, all that goes through my mind in those moments is how I want to kill the people that killed them.
I see, there's still more isn't there?
Uh huh, everyday I become more and more angry and today my anger became so much that I crushed a flower in my hand.
Danny I suggest you bury those thoughts quickly, that kind of thinking isn't good especially for someone your age. I understand how you feel really I do but anger is only going to poison you mind, just try to avoid thinking about it okay? I know the loss you've endured and I'm here for you, I'll never leave you got it? Now if you'll excuse me I'll be heading to bed now, don't stay up too late.
Acknowledging his uncle's words Danny began burying his feelings. A few more days passed and Danny found that his feelings grew stronger every time he tried burying them eventually his anger grew so strong that he began embracing it. Knowing his uncle would disapprove of this he decided to hide his true feelings from him.
Amidst all the anger and hatred that was accumulating in his heart Danny came up with the idea of becoming a knight in order to avenge his parents, knowing that his uncle would disapprove of this Danny decided find a way to train himself and after much pondering he remembered his uncle's warnings about monsters deep in the forest. Seeing this as an opportunity he decided to try hunting those monsters as training.
The next day arrived and Danny woke himself up early in preparation of the training, he knew his uncle would be angry if he found out about his plan so he decided to wait for his uncle to leave for knight duties before heading out to the forest. Once Alaric left the house Danny quickly went into his room and grabbed his father's sword.
As soon as he took it he noticed that the weight of the sword was challenging for him to overcome but with determination he managed to equip the sword onto his back but it was too heavy to carry alone. With more determination he began walking with the sword on his back, at that moment his figure could be compared to an old man walking with a cane.
While carrying the sword it quickly dawned on him that he would not be able to slay monsters if he couldn't even carry the sword so changing his plans he decided that he need to learn how to properly hold the sword first. With this new goal in mind he turned around and began heading for the back door, once he reached the outside he placed down the sword.
Lookin at the sword intently he slowly began to unsheathe it until the blade was fully exposed, he then grabbed the hilt of the sword with both his hands and using his whole strength he picked it up and held it in place. For a few minutes he just stood in place trying to balance out all of this weight eventually he decided to try swinging the sword and upon doing so he quickly lost his balance and fell on his face.
Hey quickly got up breathing hard and sweating profusely from his attempts and while catching his breath he noticed stacks of firewood on the far side of the yard. He quickly formulated the idea of using the firewood as swinging practice so after recovering his stamina he quickly gathered up the wood and taking one log aside he grabbed the sword once more.
With his eyes intently locked onto the log and with all of his strength he swang the sword upwards, he stood still for a brief moment before swinging the sword downwards towards the log with full force. In the end he could only penetrate a quarter of the log but this was enough to satisfy him.
Danny's determination grew stronger and he began repeating this process with the other logs. Time passed until the sun began setting seeing this he realized that his uncle would be returning soon so he quickly organized the firewood and placed everything back where he found it and after doing so he grabbed the sword and sheathed it.
He began carrying the sword back into the house and as he reached his room the door could be heard opening with Alaric announcing his return hearing this Danny quickly hid the sword under his bed as his uncle got into the room.
Hey there kiddo what are you doing?
Oh hey uncle, oh I'm just cleaning my room. So how was your duty.
Well for the most part it was as average as usual but there was a fight in the barracks that I had to break up and that's pretty much the only eventful thing that happened today.
At least you were there to stop the fight.
Yep but enough about me how was your day?
Oh it was just another ordinary day.
I suggest you stop lying to me, I can see the sweat in your face. I hope you weren't doing any intense exercises, you know you'll pass out if you overexert yourself.
I know uncle but I wasn't doing intense exercises I was just running around the yard.
I see well alright then just promise me that you'll stop what you're doing when you feel your lung acting up okay.
Yes uncle.
Now that that's done, what do you want for dinner?
Ramen please.
Ramen huh? Alright then.
Alaric then prepared dinner and after the meal he went to bed leaving Danny to clean up. During this time Danny thought about what to do next, he ultimately decided to continue the swinging exercises with the sword until he was properly able to hold it.
Danny trains himself to hold the sword as the days pass conforming to a new routine of waking up early to practice until the evening when his uncle returns. This newly adopted routine keeps Danny busy to the point where he started forgetting about the garden.
Over time the garden began dying which caught Alaric's attention each time he returned from his duties. Meanwhile Danny continues his training until one day he notices that picking up the sword is no longer as difficult as it used to be.
Realizing this Danny becomes happy and with a new determination he decides that the next day he would explore the forest. Time passed and Alaric returns home and finds Danny smiling to himself seeing this he approaches his nephew.
Hey Danny, good day?
Uh huh.
Good to hear. Look I've noticed that these past few days you have been attending to the garden.
Oh no I forgot about that.
Forgot? How could you forget about the garden you love so much, unless something else is occupying your time? I hope you aren't doing something you're not supposed to.
No no I've just been exercising that's all.
Is that so? Alright well just remember to tend to the garden. Also I'll be returning home earlier tomorrow so we'll eat out.
Oh okay.
Alaric left the room and the evening progressed normally. Heading to bed Danny could only think about the next days events in excitement until he eventually fell asleep.
