Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: Agonizing Defeat!!!

As the crew split up to work towards their respective goals, Charlemagne went on fight both Akainu and Kizaru. A two on one fight against those two was a monumental task for even someone as strong as Charlemagne.

Yuma would be taking on both Fujitora and Ryokugyu. Even though they were "easier" compared to the admirals that Charlemagne were fighting, they were still an extreme challenge. Especially considering that he was again fighting two opponents at once.

Jack and Sig may have had the tallest task of them all as they would have to hold off all of the Navy soldiers by themselves. The Beast Sword Pirates had only 9 members, and even then, only 6 out of the 9 had any actual combat ability. With Celeste staying back to protect the non-combatants and me on the island fighting the new guy, it was up to only four men to take on tens of thousands of soldiers.

The battle began as the Beast Sword Pirates forces struck the first blow as they struck before the Navy's floating platform made contact with their ship. Yuma and Charlemagne each isolated their respective opponents and begun their battles.

The battles went on for quite some time with each member of the Beast Sword Pirates able to hold their own. However, the sheer number of the Navy's forces eventually started to take their toll. Yuma was at the brink of exhaustion after fighting Fujitora and Ryokugyu. Jack and Sig had also started to wear down after battling wave after wave of Navy soldiers.

It was starting to seem that it was inevitable that the Beast Sword Pirates were going to face a bitter defeat. Charlemagne had managed to do quite a bit of damage to his two opponents. Akainu had actually lost an arm, and Kizaru had his shoulder deeply gashed. Despite the success he had, Charlemagne was also heavily injured and had serious burns all along his arms and body.

The men were on their last legs and the Navy could see this. They capitalized on this by massing all their remaining troops together to crush the crew in one fell swoop.

"This is…. Exactly what I've been waiting for." Yuma said as a smile broke across his face. "Sig! Charlemagne! Do it now!" He ordered.

"You got it!" Sig said as he brandished his sword. "Machine Sword: Flame Thrower Mode!"

Sig then started lighting the Navy ships on fire, though it wasn't enough to engulf the entire fleet. They would need a great gust of wind to help the fire spread. Unfortunately, there was no wind on the sea that night. That's where the second part of the plan comes into place.

"I guess that means it's my turn." Charlemagne said. "Gale Force Slash!!!!" He swung his sword and a violent gust of wind soar through the sky and spread the fire throughout the entire Navy fleet. The entire fleet was now in flames and was crumbling into the sea. This posed a great risk to the many Power Holders among the Navy's ranks.

"W-What's happening? How did this happen?" Akainu said as he watched the destruction spread. "Wait, who was it that suggested that we linked the ships again?" He said as the thought dawned on him. "Fujitora! You traitor!"

"Sakazuki, I don't believe I've believe that I've betrayed anything. Rather, I've stayed perfectly loyal, to my own sense of justice that is." Issho responded.

In the time of the Three Kingdoms period in China, Cao Cao led an army of a million men against the combined forces of Sun Quan and Liu Bei. Their armies were extremely outnumbered and they seemed to be doomed to defeat when their forces met on the Yangtze River. However, the brilliant strategist Kong Ming came up with a plan to defeat the northern forces.

He planted a tactician in the Wei ranks that suggested to Cao Cao that he link his ships together to create a stable fighting platform. Then when they were engaged in battle, and when the winds changed, they set fire to Cao Cao's fleet. The Wei army was utterly crushed and it was considered to be the most humiliating defeat in Cao Cao's career.

This historic battle was the inspiration for my strategy against the Navy in this monumental clash. To set it up I made contact with Admiral Fujitora and convinced him to help us defeat the Navy here. The final blow was struck by the reinforcements that I called in. The reinforcements came in the form of the remnants of Kaido's crew that I had absorbed before. They came in and stopped the Navy's retreat.

The result of the battle was the complete and utter annihilation of the mightiest fleet in the history of the Navy. This defeat was a humiliating blow for the World Government and would have major consequences throughout entire One Piece world. Though that's a story for another time.

My crew had survived the epic battle but they were wounded and exhausted. They wouldn't be able to come help me in my own fight. Though obviously I wouldn't want them to either.

Against the odds my crew was able to come out victorious in their battle. My own battle, unfortunately, was not going as smoothly.
