Time Skip
The harpoon of the apocalypse dragon had been launched at the lacrima containing our friends. It was heading toward Extalia, the city of the Exceeds. Wendy and Carla were already there to warn them, while Gajeel was fighting Panther Lily on the lacrima.
I was with Natsu, Lucy with Erza, and Gray, who had freed himself from the lacrima. Lucy had just finished fighting a giant octopus and rescued one of our enemies, named Coco, who decided to help us stop the harpoon. We were in a large hall where there were giant blue animals resembling bulls with wings.
Coco: "Get on, we should be able to make it in time."
Natsu (his face turning purple): "Are you sure we have to ride this? It's still a mode of transportation…"
Lucy: "Natsu, now is not the time. This is serious; we have no choice but to go with it."
The guards were chasing us, followed by Erza Knightwalker (Edolas's Erza) and Metal Sonic!? I thought I had taken him out of commission. I jumped off the animal just as it started flying.
Gray: "Sonic, what are you doing!?"
Me: "Go on without me, I'll join you later."
Metal Sonic watched them take off, then activated the propulsion system in his back and took to the air, trying to stop them from escaping. Since I couldn't fly, I ran along the wall, reached his level, and jumped just before he could reach them. I delivered a left kick, charged with electric energy, to knock him down.
As he fell, he fired a blue laser at them. I was losing altitude, but the attack was blocked by a green shield that appeared in front of them. It was Chip—he had protected them and then caught me before I could hit the ground. The guards fired bolts of lightning at me, which I absorbed instead of blocking, using the energy to strengthen myself.
Metal Sonic charged at me, but I countered with a Lightning Dragon Roar, forcing him down and striking the other guards. Erza Knightwalker had protected herself from my electric attack and watched as we fled.
We flew toward the others, but Chip suddenly stopped.
Me: "Is something wrong?"
Chip: "I don't know, but I feel like my memories are coming back... and they're linked to Extalia."
Me: "Really? Don't worry, I'm sure there are people there who know you."
Chip: "I think so too."
Me: "I have an idea—drop me off there." (I pointed to the harpoon chain.)
He let me go, and I started running along the chain holding the lacrima. Natsu and the others worked to slow the comet-like advance of the lacrima, using Coco's animal to push it with all their might. We reached the edge of the Exceeds' island, which was starting to disintegrate.
At that moment, a breathtaking spectacle unfolded. We saw Exceeds taking off from Extalia, glowing blue and green, coming to aid us in stopping the lacrima. Eventually, Natsu and I unleashed our secret Anti-Dragon Techniques, while Wendy, not yet having one, helped as best she could.
Our attacks hit, and the lacrima exploded, leaving behind a blinding light. When we opened our eyes, it was gone—the harpoon was disintegrating.
Natsu: "We did it!!!"
Everyone cheered. We had saved Extalia and the Exceeds. But suddenly, an explosion rang out—it was Panther Lily! He had just been pierced by a laser from below.
We all looked down and saw the guards, Metal Sonic, and the other Erza approaching on the same flying animals.
Erza Knightwalker: "It's not over!"
Metal Sonic: "Fire at will on the Exceeds!"
The guards fired their blasters, turning the Exceeds into cat-shaped jewels. We all scattered, but a quarter of the Exceeds were hit and fell toward a metal wreckage on the ground. The metal began to shift, taking shape—it was forming a giant metallic dragon.
??? (A sinister voice): "Did you really think destroying the lacrima would stop me from taking control of the Exceeds?"
It was King Faust's voice, coming from within the Robot Dragon! Strangely, he looked familiar to me.
Mistogan: "Why do you want to claim magic that doesn't belong to you?"
Mistogan had arrived just after we destroyed the lacrima.
Faust: "Mistogan, you dare return here just to lecture me?"
Mistogan: "But father…"
Faust: "You are no longer my son! I will destroy you, and anyone who stands in my way!"
Faust fired at us, but Chip created a massive shield to block the attack.
Chip: "It's time for me to fulfill my duty. Awaken and come to me!"
At that moment, he left my side and enveloped me in a green bubble-shaped shield that made me float. Then, out of nowhere, seven ancient floating islands appeared, merging into each other. They formed something massive—each island shaped like a part of a body: arms, legs, a head with glowing green eyes, and a chest with a luminous green core.

It was enormous—I never knew Chip could create a floating titan from islands.
As if guided by an unseen force, we were drawn toward the giant. Up close, it looked like a massive floating city where gravity didn't matter.
Chip's voice echoed: "Friends, I will take care of the Exceeds. You handle the guards and the King."
The giant extended its left hand, and I saw Natsu, Wendy, and Gajeel jump down in front of the Robot Dragon. I landed on its right shoulder while Gray, Lucy, and the others descended to fight the guards. Erza went off to battle her Edolas counterpart.
A blue light appeared in front of us—it was Metal Sonic, holding something. Wait... it was one of my hair spikes! When had he taken it?!
He clenched the hair in his fist, and it vanished. Suddenly, his body was surrounded by electric energy. He had stolen my power again! But this time, he was transforming into something else.
He grew in size, his design changing while keeping his original shape.

Neo Metal Sonic: "This time, you won't stop me, you worthless copy."
He placed both hands forward and fired a massive laser at us. Chip's giant blocked the attack, but it took its toll.
Chip: "Sonic, you have to take him down!"
Me: "You don't have to tell me twice!"
I launched myself toward Neo Metal Sonic, encased in a green shield. My lightning-charged punch struck, but he blocked it effortlessly. Then, he headbutted me, making me lose altitude.

The battle raged on—Neo Metal Sonic became Metal Overlord, and after an intense fight, I finally managed to defeat him.
Metal Sonic (weakly): "Impossible… Why have I failed?"
Me: "It's simple—you can't use magic that doesn't belong to you."
I retrieved my stolen hair, which dissolved into an electrical thread flowing back into my body.
Time Skip
The Exceeds were saved, and we returned to Earthland with them. Edolas lost all its magic, and Mistgun became its new king.
Natsu: "We did it! We all made it back safely!"
Me: "And we brought the Exceeds, surprisingly."
Wendy: "Since Edolas lost its magic, the Exceeds had to leave too."
I turned to Chip—he still owed us an explanation.
Chip: "My real name is Light Gaia. I am a god whose purpose is to protect the Exceeds and bring them to a safe place where they can live in peace."
Me: "So… are you leaving?"
Chip: "Sonic, I would have loved to be your partner. I'm truly grateful for your help, but I must go with them."
His words saddened me—I had hoped to have an Exceed to fly with, like Natsu and Wendy.
But then, the Queen of the Exceeds spoke up.
Queen: "My Lord, I believe your mission is complete."
We all looked at her in confusion.
Chip: "What do you mean?"
Queen: "Your goal was to help us find a peaceful home. You just did that by bringing us to Earthland."
Me: "So… that means he can stay?"
Queen: "Yes, our god has fulfilled his role with honor."
Me and Chip high-fived in joy. The Exceeds flew off, ready to find their new home.
Me: "Wait… Chip, there's still one thing you haven't explained."
Chip: "What is it, Sonic?"
Me: "If you're not a cat… what animal are you??"
Chip: "Uh… I don't know."
Everyone burst into laughter as Chip kept thinking.
