Odel's breakfast plate remained untouched on the table. The toast had gone cold, the glossy butter slowly melting without ever being spread. The omelet she usually devoured now lay there, untouched by a fork. In front of the television, her face was frozen. The news anchor's voice still echoed, like a never-ending horror:
"Within one night, five bodies were found in an abandoned building in the northern part of the city. Disturbingly, all the victims were completely drained of blood, with bite marks on their necks. Police suspect the killer to be the same perpetrator from the previous serial murders!"
Odel gripped the edge of the table. Her eyes widened, her heart pounded in her chest, and her body turned cold as ice. One word escaped her lips in a fearful whisper, "Vampires…"
