Chapter 161- The Lie I Had to Tell
Logan's POV
The moment those words came out of his mouth, my heart froze.
I stood there like someone who had just seen a ghost. My throat dried up instantly. My body turned stiff. I couldn't breathe properly. It felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff and one wrong move would send me falling straight down.
He just stared at me, waiting.
I wanted to speak.
I tried.
But nothing came out.
Not a single word.
My heart? It was beating so fast and so loud that I was sure he could hear it from where he was sitting.
What?
That's all I managed to say, followed by a weak laugh. God, even I knew it sounded fake. That laugh didn't come from confidence. It came from panic. Raw, stupid panic.
Even a five-year-old would have known something wasn't right. That's how bad I was at hiding it.
He folded his arms, his head tilted to one side. His voice changed—it sounded cocky now, like he had just caught me stealing candy.
