While Jacob and Gaia's Avatar, Mara Thorn talked over dinner the BrandJacob had made already met its mark.
A young boy who was quite smart and a quick learner called Aiden Stone.
Aiden woke up to a burning pain on his hand and immediately found the brand burn into the back of his hand.
"AHHHHHH! What's going on?! What's happening!?"
The pain was brief but agonizingly painful, so much so that he wished for death.
Only once the pain faded did Aiden looked at his hand to see the brand's glow subside.
"What the? What is this thing?"
Aiden shook his hand to try and shake it off but as he flailed it around he saw them mark glow bright then fade once more.
Jacob knew that the one who were marked needed to go to their Towers so he also had them act like a compass once the mark was given.
But all Aiden figured out was that the mark was trying to lead him somewhere since it glowed brighter when he stood at the door.
So without hesitation Aiden packed a bag for emergencies and grabbed his slightly rusted sword and chipped dagger before departing his rundown apartment not knowing that his fate was about to change.
And Jacob was using his third eye so to speak through the Ethereal Realms eyes known as Specter's.
They served the Anomaly or rather Jacob Hunt without question and with unwavering loyalty.
So he was quite pleased to see in one of the magic books that seemed to be writing itself as Aiden prepared as much as he could for the path ahead.
'It has begun… I hope this one is up to the task of climbing up my Tower. He'll need everything he has and more if he hopes to survive, see you soon… Dragon Slayer.'
The first tower was born with natures fire and beauty, the essence of Dragons. Powerful and intelligent creatures that are nearly the pinnacle of human fears for their might.
Humans thought these creatures were invulnerable but they had one fatal flaw, the horns. A dragon grows a single horn every thousand years as it is the source of their strength.
It symbolizes true Power and heritage to an ancient race of Draconian Warriors.
Without their horns the lose everything that makes them what they are so when a dragon loses its horns it turns savage.
But they knew that so above all else a Dragon would prioritize their horns even above their claws or wings or even a vital organ.
It would be an impossible task for a man like Aiden Stone to kill a Dragon, at least if it was a True Dragon.
"Mara… I have something else for you to do if you wouldn't mind listening. Someone is coming to approach the Tower, he must not be hindered from entering. I am asking you to help him enter the tower."
Jacob normally would discuss such things out in the open without taking precautions so a simple noise Illusion ward was just the thing.
"What is this man's name? How will I know what he'll look like? What's in the tower? What-"
Jacob slightly raised his hand to stop Mara from asking the hundreds of questions she had in her mind and spoke as he drew the run he had made onto the table.
"In time you will learn but for now I will not say. The man will reach the tower by noon tomorrow and will bare this mark. Should he successfully enter the tower then you will be rewarded."
Mara suddenly heard Gaia's voice practically screaming in her mind once Jacob was finished.
'Do it! Do whatever he wants! If you have ever put your faith in me the trust my words. He can do what I cannot.'
Mara sought out Gaia's divine grace and willfully became her Avatar for one purpose, to save her younger brother.
She had visited every healer, mage, alcemist and priest in search of a cure for her brother. But when everything else failed she turned to Gaia, Mother Nature itself for a cure for the incurable.
Naturally Gaia would have been able to do it if she wasn't bound by rules of interference. As a Celestial Goddess she too was bound by rules like the others to limit their powers.
So Gaia could heal a simple cut or even cancer with ease but the affliction that plagued Mara's brother was outside of her powers.
Mana Deprivation, a terrible disease known for killing its victims by slowly destroying the nerve systems with Mana and consuming them from the inside out.
Every living being has Mana in their blood but most are dormant. However there are some who have no mana at all which means they have no protection from something that has always existed.
The Void, humans thought the Void was merely and endless pit of nothing but they were wrong.
The Void was more like an endless hunger eating everything that has existed. Jacob gave everything he created a magical layer of protection to shield them from the Void, Mana.
Without Mana they had no protection which meant they could be consumed by the Void.
Most scholars of Magic wouldn't even know what they were looking at when they saw Mara's brother.
But Mara could hardly believe that the man across from her might be able to save him.
"You… you can cure him? How do I know you aren't just lying to me be mere be a pawn?"
"None at all but I know you believe that hard work should be rewarded. Accept my request and I will cure your brothers Mana Deprivation."
It was a relatively simple task for Mara as she had become well known throughout the Hunter Bureau and many had come to respect her.
But the reward was too good for such a small task which Mara naturally had suspicions.
"With the appearance of that building you made it's been blocked off by everyone. I assume the wards prohibiting people from entering is your doing?"
Jacob gave a simple nod which made Mara slump in her chair.
"What will happen when the person enters the tower?"
Mara would be lying if she said she wasn't scared of what was in the Tower so she was naturally worried for whoever was chosen.
Jacob remained calm as he said the honest truth even though it scared even Gaia who was listening.
"He will either become something worthy of recognition from humanity… or he will die."
