Over the years, in this lawless zone, the East Atlantic Company and the City Lord of Freedom City have been the kings here.
Flaying Cliff was also a place they established to punish those who refused to submit to their rule.
Legend has it that this was originally a place of sacrifice for a native tribe thousands of years ago. After Carter and Ascetic Doug arrived, they joined forces with the Red Knight to turn this place into what they called the Heretic Court.
Anyone caught by them would be taken to Flaying Cliff, skinned alive, and then the bloodied, skinless bodies would be hung from the cliff to serve as fish bait, left for the man-eating fish in the sea to tear apart bit by bit.
Cruel, bloody, utterly inhumane.
Yet, very effective.
Ever since the existence of Flaying Cliff on Transshipment Island, even the boldest of the underworld did not dare to oppose the East Atlantic Company and Freedom City.
