Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Support Mission

"Before dinner or after?"

Jiraiya asked Tsunade with a cheeky grin.

"I won't be able to make dinner for you today," Tsunade replied, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush.

"I'm heading to Shikkotsu Forest for training later."

"So you're saying we should start now?" Without waiting for her response, Jiraiya swept her into a bridal carry and strode toward the bathroom, leaving Tsunade no chance to protest.

Once inside, Jiraiya immediately set up a Barrier to ensure privacy. He filled the tub with warm water, stripped off his clothes, and jumped in, pulling Tsunade along with him. Slowly, he helped her out of her clothes as well, his movements deliberate and careful...

Over an hour later, the two finally stepped out of the bathroom.

"Once I return from this training, I'll be ready to take the Jōnin exam," Tsunade said confidently.

"Remember to prepare a gift for me in advance," Tsunade teased, a playful glint in her eyes.

"Don't worry, I've got you covered," Jiraiya promised with a grin.

They chatted for a while longer before Tsunade returned to the Senju Compound. Jiraiya, feeling thoroughly relaxed, let his thoughts wander back to earlier. The experience had been… incredible.

'I need to rack up enough renown quickly," he muttered to himself. "When the Second Shinobi War ends, I'll aim for the Hokage position. Once I become Hokage, I'll make Tsunade my personal assistant. Then, every day…' His thoughts veered into risqué territory, and he chuckled to himself.

Shaking off the distraction, Jiraiya headed to the training field to resume his drills.

"Sign in," Jiraiya said aloud the next morning as soon as he woke up.

[Ding! Sign-in successful. You've obtained the Storm Gauntlets.]

"Explain their effects," Jiraiya instructed the system.

[The Storm Gauntlets enhance the user's strength by 30%, channel wind-style chakra, and create a pulling force to draw enemies within a three-meter range. Note: Chakra consumption is high, so use cautiously.]

"Wow, it's like you read my mind. You're the best, system!" Jiraiya exclaimed as his eyes lit up at the description. Tsunade had mentioned wanting a gift, and he had been racking his brain for ideas. The system had just solved his dilemma.

The gauntlets seemed tailor-made for Tsunade. Her monstrous strength was already terrifying, with these gauntlets amplifying her power, one punch could level entire battlefields. The added pulling force was a bonus. Injecting wind-style chakra to activate the gauntlets didn't require hand seals, making it an unexpected and deadly advantage in combat. If an enemy got pulled in, Tsunade would undoubtedly crush them in the next second.

Although the high chakra consumption was a drawback, the gauntlets could still be a game-changer in critical moments. They were perfect for enhancing Tsunade's already formidable abilities.

Jiraiya retrieved the gauntlets from his system inventory. Made of dark, spiked metal, they weren't bulky like traditional gloves. Instead, they resembled finger rings, leaving his grip unimpeded.

Slipping one onto his right hand, Jiraiya watched as the gauntlet adjusted itself to fit snugly.

"Such thoughtful craftsmanship," Jiraiya mused as he tested its fit and functionality. Satisfied, he returned the gauntlet to his cabinet, planning to gift it to Tsunade once she became a Jōnin.

Next, Jiraiya pulled out a blank scroll and began drafting the evaluation for Shirayuki's assessment, intending to hand it to Hiruzen Sarutobi for approval.

Just as Jiraiya stepped outside, an Anbu member arrived at his doorstep.

"Jiraiya-sama, the Hokage requests your presence at the office," the Anbu said respectfully.

"Perfect timing. I was just about to go see him," Jiraiya replied, nodding. He followed the Anbu to the Hokage's office.

Upon arrival, Jiraiya noticed a team of Anbu, led by Yuhi Mitsune, as well as Orochimaru and Koharu Mitokado. Among them was an injured shinobi.

"Jiraiya," Hiruzen Sarutobi began gravely, "you just completed a mission recently, and you were due for some rest. However, the situation is urgent. The village is short-handed, and we have a critical mission for you."

"It's an honor to serve the village, sensei," Jiraiya replied, his gaze shifting to the injured shinobi. He already had an inkling of what was coming.

"Recently, two intelligence teams infiltrated the Land of Rain to gather information. They uncovered vital intel about the Land of Wind's operations there, but their cover was blown. They were pursued by Wind Country shinobi and are now trapped near the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Rain.

"They managed to break through the enemy's encirclement at great cost, but only three members escaped. The others remain trapped. Your mission is to lead a team to rescue them immediately."

Hiruzen handed Jiraiya a scroll. "This will be your first time leading an Anbu mission. Elder Mitokado will accompany you as an advisor. If you encounter difficulties, consult him."

"Understood, sensei," Jiraiya said with a nod. "Elder Mitokado, I look forward to your guidance," he added, turning to the elder.

Mitokado smiled and nodded in acknowledgment.

"Orochimaru will also join you," Hiruzen continued. "This mission will serve as his assessment. Orochimaru, I trust you won't disappoint me."

"I won't, sensei," Orochimaru said confidently.

"The situation is critical. Depart immediately," Hiruzen instructed. "This scroll contains the escape route mapped by the intelligence teams. The red marker indicates their location."

Jiraiya unrolled the scroll and scanned it briefly. "Understood. Let's move out!"

With that, Jiraiya and his team swiftly departed. Once outside the village, he changed into his Anbu uniform, ready to lead the rescue mission.
