{Chapter: 104 Initiative!}

Qiao Siying looked at Lin Yuan, her sharp gaze locking onto him as she calculated her winnings. If she beat him in just one round, she would only earn 500,000 yuan at most. That amount was far from enough to soothe the resentment simmering inside her.

No, she needed to make sure he played multiple rounds, ensuring a more significant gain. That way, even if he lost the first match, he would still have to continue competing with her.

With that in mind, she took a deep breath and said, "Let's make it more interesting. One round isn't enough. We'll play more."

"Alright," Lin Yuan replied without hesitation, nodding casually.

His calm response caught Qiao Siying slightly off guard, but excitement quickly took over. She clenched her fists in anticipation. This was perfect.

Soon, the participants selected their horses and mounted them, preparing for the race.

Among those joining the competition were Qiao Siying, Lin Yuan, and Tang Bowen. A few other wealthy second-generation heirs, including Zhang San and Wang Wu, also entered the race.

These young men were quite skilled in equestrianism. After all, they wouldn't have made a habit of frequenting the equestrian club if they weren't at least competent riders.

A silent agreement had already formed among them.

They couldn't surpass Lin Yuan in terms of family background or power. But here, on the racetrack, they had an opportunity. They would use their superior riding skills to try and defeat him. It was, in its own way, a small but satisfying victory.

Seated confidently on her horse, Qiao Siying shot Lin Yuan a mocking glance and smirked. "Let's see what tricks you try to pull this time. You won't be able to cheat your way through this race! I'm taking that 1.5 million yuan from you."

The deposit had already been collected before the race began, so she wasn't worried about him backing out.

She was confident—almost arrogant. Equestrianism wasn't just a casual hobby for her. She had trained abroad, refining her skills with some of the best trainers. Very few people could defeat her in a fair race.

Even Tang Bowen, who was quite skilled himself, was still a step behind her when it came to horse riding.

And as for Lin Yuan?

She had checked his background thoroughly after the deposit was secured.

He might have a membership at the prestigious Yue He Equestrian Club, but he had barely set foot inside more than five times. That meant he had almost no practical experience.

There was no way she could lose.

Lin Yuan, however, simply chuckled at her provocation. "If you lose, don't start crying again."

Hearing his words, Qiao Siying's expression darkened. She gritted her teeth in frustration. "Hah! We'll see who ends up crying today!"

Just as the participants were getting ready, Tang Bowen suddenly reached out and pulled a girl onto his horse, seating her in front of him.

Then, as if remembering something, he turned toward Lin Yuan and grinned. "Oh, right, Young Master Lin. There's another rule in our races—each horse must carry two riders. You'll need to find someone to accompany you."

Lin Yuan scanned the field. Sure enough, every participant had someone seated with them. Even Qiao Siying had a girl positioned behind her.

This wasn't an official equestrian event. It was just a game among the wealthy elite, meant for fun rather than serious competition.

Sitting in front of Tang Bowen was a stunning woman, leaning closely against him. It was clear that this was just another excuse to enjoy some physical contact.

Qiao Siying glanced at Lin Yuan, her lips curling into a smug smile. This rule was always in place, and they had all played like this before.

Unless Lin Yuan's equestrian skills were far superior to theirs, there was no way he could win while balancing another person. And she highly doubted that possibility.

But Lin Yuan remained unbothered. He had already anticipated this.

The moment he swept his gaze over the remaining girls, an immediate reaction followed.

Excited voices filled the air.

"Take me!"

"Young Master Lin, I'll ride with you!"

"Choose me! I promise I won't be a burden!"

"I have the perfect figure for this! My balance is amazing!"

Finally, one particularly bold girl shrieked, "Take me! Take me! My ass is super big!"

The enthusiasm was overwhelming.

The wealthy second-generation men watching from the sidelines couldn't help but turn sour. These same girls, who usually acted cold and reserved, were now practically throwing themselves at Lin Yuan. But there was nothing they could say—Lin Yuan was undeniably handsome and had a background that outshone all of them.

Among the crowd, Yan Ruyue had remained silent, but she was watching everything unfold.

Her eyes shifted to the vacant spot behind Lin Yuan.

A strange emotion churned inside her—one she couldn't quite name.

As she listened to the chorus of eager voices calling out for Lin Yuan, an inexplicable discomfort settled in her chest.

She wasn't sure why, but the thought of another woman sitting behind Lin Yuan, so close to him, made her feel... restless.

Her mind wandered back to the time he had held her.

The warmth of his touch. The steady presence of his arms around her.

That warmth had lingered even after they parted ways.

And now, someone else was going to experience it?

She bit her lower lip, feeling conflicted.

At that moment, Lin Yuan's gaze shifted away from the screaming girls and landed on her.

Their eyes met.

He didn't say a word, but the slight upward tilt of his lips spoke volumes.

Yan Ruyue froze.

Her heart pounded.

A thousand thoughts ran through her mind in a split second.

Finally, she made a decision.

"Take... take me…"

Her voice was soft, barely audible amidst the chatter, yet it seemed to cut through the noise like a blade.

A hush fell over the field.

The moment those words left her lips, time seemed to freeze.

All eyes turned toward Yan Ruyue.

The people who had been vying for Lin Yuan's attention were stunned.

Everyone knew who Yan Ruyue was.

The elegant young miss of the Yan family. One of Jiangbei's four great beauties.

A woman with an icy aura, as untouchable as a snow lotus blooming on a mountaintop.

Even among the wealthy elite, she was known for her coldness. She was always distant, always composed. No man had ever been able to get close to her.

Although she is indeed beautiful, but no rich second generation dares to strike up a conversation.

They only dare to look at her from afar, but not approach her.

In their impression, Yan Ruyue is a workaholic, and that except for working, it is strange for her to even be here.

They never saw her have any physical contact with any man.

But what did they just hear?

And yet, she had just volunteered to ride with Lin Yuan?

What is going on?

The rich second generations including Tang Bowen all turned sour.

What was even more shocking was the subtle flush of pink staining her flawless cheeks.

Tang Bowen's face twisted in jealousy.

He knew about Yan Ruyue's past engagement to Lin Yuan. Back then, she had been indifferent toward him.

But now, the engagement was canceled, and instead of growing more distant, she was getting closer to him?

He couldn't wrap his head around it.

Meanwhile, Lin Yuan smiled.

"Alright," he said, extending a hand toward her.

Without hesitation, Yan Ruyue quickly approached, her long, slender legs moving with grace.

Yan Ruyue's slender and straight legs, even under loose trousers, were difficult to conceal.

Qiao Siying, despite her confidence in her own body, couldn't help but feel a hint of envy.

Yan Ruyue reached Lin Yuan's side and, without waiting, took his hand and climbed onto the horse.

"I… I'll sit behind," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Yan Ruyue is still a bit ashamed of sitting in front like other girls, so she chose to sit behind Lin Yuan.

"This… this is just for my treatment," she added hastily. "You said that I should have more contact with the opposite sex, so I came up to help you. so I'm just doing what's necessary."

Lin Yuan didn't say anything, but Yan Ruyue explained first why she wanted to sit behind Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan didn't reply—he only chuckled, his smirk deepening.

And with that, the race was about to begin.
