Chapter 129: Human Experimentation!
Hearing this, the cautious Song Zhaomei didn't forget to add a note to Li Ang:
"I need high-risk roaming AIs. If they're too low-grade, I could catch one myself in ten minutes."
"Hey! Aren't you overdoing it? It's just an AI—why so stingy?"
Morgan Blackhand, Li Ang's personal bodyguard, standing beside him, couldn't help but chime in. After all, he watched Alt catch AIs from the other side of the Blackwall all the time, and it didn't seem particularly difficult.
Every time Alt Cunningham ventured into the Blackwall, she'd grab an AI with uncanny precision, like fishing by a lake—always a bountiful harvest. Yet, Song Zhaomei Infinity ly nagged about needing roaming AIs.
"You don't know a damn thing!"
Before Song Zhaomei could snap back at Morgan Blackhand, Li Ang raised his hand with a light laugh and interjected:
"No problem. Since it's a gift to the President to aid in pacification efforts, the quality naturally won't be low."
"Not only will it be a high-grade roaming AI, but even if it's an extremely dangerous AI, my LA Company can acquire it for you. The only question is—will you dare to use it?"
"That won't be necessary. I just need my original AI back," Song Zhaomei replied coldly.
"Alright, it's settled then."
Li Ang's words put Myers completely at ease. With his assurance, Song Zhaomei finally let go of her concerns.
In reality, for LA Company, roaming AIs were one of the least scarce resources.
Since Bartmoss joined their fold, the Red and White Queens (AI systems) essentially achieved self-sufficiency. Li Ang could upgrade the Red and White Queens to Level 8 or above at any time, assisting V and Johnny with the consciousness separation surgery, ensuring Alt wouldn't have to endure her current solitude.
However, the current matrix server required these roaming AIs for operations, so Li Ang couldn't spare them for the Red and White Queens just yet.
A single feast versus sustainable development—Li Ang knew the difference.
"Mr. Li Ang, since you're willing to contribute to the revival of the New United States, I won't let you go unrewarded. Do you know what our intelligence agents have been up to lately?"
Myers smiled at Li Ang. In exchange for resources, beyond monetary compensation, she could also provide highly classified information.
However, Li Ang suspected this was just another test and answered jokingly:
"Madam President, I've never been politically sensitive. I'm not sure what your agents are up to—maybe stealing prototypes from some corporation?"
Li Ang still vividly remembered how New America once sent its agents, Reed and Alex, to steal Arasaka's Oni power armor, only for the mission to end in complete failure.
Myers , however, remained unfazed by Li Ang's sardonic tone. She replied calmly:
"Our agents are currently targeting the masterminds funding these rebels in Europe, Cuba, and other regions—particularly the Cuban crime syndicates."
"There's a faction of assassins in the Cuban syndicates called Aguilar. According to our investigations, Aguilar isn't just a single person."
"These Aguilar assassins have been particularly active in North America recently, assassinating numerous of our agents."
Li Ang suddenly had a hunch. Was Myers bringing this up to recruit LA Company to form an elite squad for counterattacks?
Currently, Li Ang had two top-tier mercenaries: Morgan Blackhand and a fully equipped cyberwarrior, V, in their prime.
However, Li Ang wasn't willing to risk losing either of them on Myers ' behalf. If anything happened to them, it would be LA Company that bore the brunt of the loss.
Sure, LA Company also had combat androids like 2B, but Li Ang preferred keeping her as a Titan mecha pilot rather than sending her to fight for Myers .
"Madam President, LA Company specializes in mercenary services. We're good at warfare, but assassinations? That's a bit out of our league."
"You know, Morgan Blackhand here is my only ace bodyguard. If I let you borrow him, I'd lose all sense of security."
Li Ang smiled humbly as he spoke, even glancing at Morgan Blackhand, a dependable and meticulous guard.
"Rest assured, I'm not asking you to raid Arasaka Tower or form a mercenary team to fight the Aguilar assassins this time."
"We haven't even pinpointed their location yet," Myers replied.
With that, she retrieved a set of photos from a nearby soldier and placed them on the table before Li Ang.
"Take a look."
"These are from a human experimentation project currently being developed by biotech companies. Participating companies include Arasaka, Militech, and the European Space Agency."
"Now, I'm inviting you to join."
Myers smiled confidently, revealing her "gift" to Li Ang. Originally, the results of this human experimentation project weren't intended to be shared with outsiders.
However, in an effort to further win over LA Company, Myers decided to bring Li Ang into the fold.
"Human experimentation?"
Li Ang picked up the photos and examined the details.
He quickly noticed that the content primarily revolved around experiments to create military-grade cyborgs.
For instance, fusing chamelion genes with human DNA to develop soldiers capable of perfect camouflage, or implanting cheetah genes to enhance physical explosiveness.
Although overloading soldiers with implants would typically strain their neural systems, integrating animal genes with lightweight power armor could produce super soldiers!
As Li Ang recalled information about Biotech, he realized the company was a powerhouse.
Biotech had grown wealthy by patenting Triticum Ethanol-2 (TE2) fuel, replacing traditional fuels. Their scientists, once content counting money, had never stopped researching.
From synthetic insect-based meat to TE2 fuel, these were just the tip of the iceberg. Their focus now lay in drug manufacturing, cloning, and genetic modification of animals and humans!
