Night Studios – Main Building, New York
The next morning, Luke stepped into the sleek, modern lobby of Night Studios, his company's main headquarters. As soon as he crossed the entrance, a wave of greetings and chatter washed over him.
"Good morning, boss!"
"Hey, Luke! You're a little late today—everything alright?"
"Boss! Did you see the news? Windwalker's fan club is exploding online!"
Luke chuckled as he walked through the bustling space, giving nods and casual waves to his employees. "Morning, Williams. Good to see you, Josh. And Samantha—please tell me you didn't forget to eat breakfast again."
Samantha, a sharp-eyed lead programmer, groaned. "Ugh, not this lecture again."
"I knew it!" Luke sighed dramatically, shaking his head. "I swear, I should start adding 'Meal Reminder' to your work emails."
She rolled her eyes but smirked. "If you want me to eat, double my salary."
"I see! Extortion! Betrayal!" Luke placed a hand over his chest in mock offense. "Is this how my own employees treat me?"
A few nearby developers laughed, the casual, friendly atmosphere of Night Studios shining through. Luke had worked hard to create an environment where people felt comfortable, and moments like these made it all worth it.
As he made his way to the elevators, his mind briefly drifted back to how all of this started.
When Night Studios first began, the team was small. Not because there weren't enough talented developers out there, but because Luke had to be cautious. Shield was watching him. And not just them—probably other hidden organizations as well. That meant he had to be very selective about who he hired.
He investigated each of his first employees personally. Not just surface-level research—deep dives into their lives, careers, and online presence. He learned their successes, their failures, even embarrassing stories they probably thought were long forgotten. He had to know for sure that none of them were spies or undercover agents.
And, well… he might have gone a little overboard.
By the time he had his initial team assembled, he knew details about their personal lives that made him feel way too guilty. Who had a bad breakup, who had student loan struggles, who had embarrassing high school yearbook photos—it was all way too much information.
To make up for it, Luke made sure Night Studios treated its employees like gold.
• High salaries? Of course.
• Flexible hours and a relaxed atmosphere? Mandatory.
• Casual game nights and fun events? Naturally.
And most importantly—genuine friendship.
Over time, as Night Studios expanded, Luke and Henry put together a trusted group from their original team. These were people they knew they could rely on—so they let them in on the truth. They told them about Luke's Windwalker identity, the real reason behind his paranoia with hiring, and even tasked them with screening all future employees.
Of course, those first few conversations had been chaotic.
"Wait, so you're telling me… our boss is Windwalker?!"
"Is this a prank? Did Henry put you up to this?"
"Holy crap, you have superpowers! Dude, what the hell?!"
Once they processed the truth (and got over the initial shock), they took their new responsibilities seriously. Now, every employee who joined Night Studios was thoroughly vetted by a dedicated team—one that had grown alongside the company.
But Luke never forgot the guilt from those early days. That's why, even now, he went out of his way to make sure everyone here was happy, comfortable, and thriving.
Stepping into the elevator, Luke sighed contentedly. Things were running smoothly, Night Studios was booming, and today was going to be a good day.
He reached the top floor, where his office was located, but before heading inside, he stopped to admire the view through the massive glass windows. The city stretched out before him, bright and full of life.
As much as he loved being Windwalker, he also loved this. His company. His people.
With a small smile, he opened the door to his office, ready to take on the day.
Hello, Henry."
"Hi, Luke. I saw the news this morning—another night of superhero antics, I assume?" Henry said, leaning back in his chair.
"Yeah, just a couple of idiots causing trouble. Nothing serious," Luke replied, dropping into his chair across from Henry.
Henry nodded, then glanced at the monitor in front of him. "Well, since you're here, let's talk business. The company's doing well—really well. The development teams for Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Demon's Souls are making steady progress. As usual, the writers wanted to contribute to the projects, but I told them, as always, that any game you personally bring in is your domain—writing, design, and direction. The rest of the studio just helps bring it to life."
"Good," Luke said with a satisfied nod. "Tell them there will be more games in the Souls franchise later. They'll have plenty to work on. But what about current releases? Anything ready to drop?"
Henry checked his notes. "A couple of smaller titles are coming out soon, but the biggest one that fans are excited about is Silksong—the Hollow Knight sequel. Other than that, the rest of the upcoming games are new IPs."
(Chuckling)
Henry squinted at him. "What's so funny?"
Luke leaned back in his chair, grinning. "Just thinking about how insane our lives are. I mean, look at us—two 17-year-old kids, sitting in the office of a gaming company that we built, making millions of dollars every second. And on top of that, one of us is also a superhero."
Henry smirked. "Correction—the owner of this company is a superhero."
Luke shrugged. "What can I say? I'm just that amazing."
Henry folded his arms. "Speaking of secrets, since we've told a bunch of trusted employees about your double life—which, by the way, I still think is a risky move—why haven't we told my parents about it? I mean, at this point, they should probably know, right?"
Luke smirked. "First off, I'm not really worried about my employees trying to blackmail me. Even if they revealed my identity, I wouldn't care. The conditions I set for my reveal have already been met. I have more than enough money to protect myself financially, and socially, and a ton of heroes have already gone public—Iron Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Doctor Strange. The world is getting used to heroes with public identities. The only reason I haven't revealed mine yet is because I want to do it at the perfect moment… in the most dramatic way possible. as for your parents… well, I just think it'd be hilarious if they found out when I reveal my identity to the entire world."
Henry stared at him like he was looking at a lunatic. "You seriously think a 'perfect moment' to reveal your identity is just gonna magically appear out of nowhere?"
Ring ring.
Luke's phone buzzed on his desk. He picked it up, and after a few seconds of listening, his lips curled into a mischievous grin.
"Okay, I'll be there," he said before hanging up.
Henry raised an eyebrow. "What was that about?"
Luke stood up, stretching. "I just got that perfect moment."
